March 11, 2006 - 7 Day Magic

Two weeks from now, we will be on the airplane!

I'm starting to throw things in suitcases. Looks like I may have to rethink some of the clothing, though. The recent trip reports that have been coming back are reporting cloudy and cool weather. I'll start checking the 10-day forecast in a few days. Hope we get sunny skies. :sunny:

I haven't been checking the weather, but I hate to hear your report amesmom! I am hoping for clear skies all the way. We will be leaving for the airport in exactly 2 weeks and 1 hour! :cool1: I am glad we are not having a transamerican flight like some of our group! I can see where the two weeks would be justified. Everyone have a great Friday night!

Two weeks from now we should be in Southern Georgia/Northern Florida, depending upon what time we hit the road. Too long to wait, much too long...

Two weeks from now I am hopefully having my rematch at Buzz Lightyear with Leslie (DisneyPinDiva) or enjoying a Dole Whip :thumbsup2 or maybe a sandwich at The Earl of Sandwich....

Question on the weather. Are the trip reports saying that it's cloudy the whole time? Last year we did the eastern a week earlier than we are doing the western this year. The weather in florida was chilly, as was castaway cay. We actually wore our jogging suits on castaway cay!!! But St. Martins and St. Thomas were HOT and the sail dates were HOT. I was expecting jacket weather in Florida and Key west, perhaps a bit cooler at Castaway Cay, but I thought for sure our 2 sail dates and Costa Maya/Cayman Islands, would be warm!!!

I couldn't really figure out what to send dh.. he doesn't drink so beer/wine were out.

Oh good - after all the early talk of :drinking1 in this thread, we might need a designated driver!!

I'm not likin' this weather talk. We did DCL & WDW a week earlier in 2004 and it was really warm, mid-80s in every port & Orlando. I NEED to thaw out!

Great photos everyone! You are all actually real!

I hope this works. This is our family pic @ sailaway. My sil is on the right and sadly wont be joining us this year. Obviously the kids are a lot bigger! This pic was in 11/03!

Just a reminder! If you are staying in a hotel prior to our sail date, you may need to book your shuttle! We are staying at the Radisson at the Port the Friday before. I just called to book our shuttle to the ship that morning. I read somewhere on here that if you wanted to get to the ship early, to make sure to reserve your transfers 2 weeks in advance. And guess what, THAT IS WHERE WE ARE!!! WHEEEE!

Keep in mind that the trip reports I read were from mid-February and we will be there mid-March. I'm sure the weather is getting warmer as we speak. :goodvibes

Today's Weather: Key West-79 and sunny
Grand Cayman-82 and partly cloudy
Costa Maya- 86 and partly cloudy
Bahamas-79 and cloudy/windy

Sounds good to me. I'll take it over the 25 degrees we're going to reach here today. Even the DISers who were reporting back on the rainy and cool weather didn't let it dampen their spirits. Pun intended.

Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait.

Hi Morticia (Mortlives)

I was reading through my trip tik from CAA and found the following:

Dear Member

US 19 in West Virginia - Some information for you to consider; we've directed you through Charleston WV, along the toll portion of the I79/77 route, instead of taking you on US 19.

Presently, the US 19 is not recommended because of excessive speed enforcement in the area of Summersville WV. This route will add about 75 kms of interstate highway to your trip.

CAA Central Ontario recommends you pay close attention to variances in the posted speed limit, especially in the area of Summerville WV, if you do decide to use the US 19 route. CAA encourages you to drive safely and responsibly by observing speed limits and other traffic safety laws.

I have also heard that the police/state troopers are targeting Ontario and/or Canadian vehicles.

I am going to look at the route they suggest and decide closer to when we leave....I'd sure hate to start off my vacation by getting a ticket.

speeding ticket + vacation = not fun!

We ended up with 2 speeding tickets on our last WDW-DCL trip! I got the first (and still only) ticket in my life on the way to school the morning we left (I taught a morning class then met DH & kids at the airport). Then DH got a ticket driving from the port to WDW. Hadn't budgeted for that $260! :scratchin

On another topic - I'm thinking about booking the Chacchowhateveritisben ruins tour in Costa Maya with Native Choice, lots of good things said about them on the Dis. Is anyone else planning to do this?

On yet another topic - 2 weeks from right now I plan to have a cheeseburger in paradise and a margarita in from of me. As my DS5 with a minor speech impediment would say, "This is the yife". :cool2:

12 Days 20 Hrs 45 Mins 36 Secs

But I wanna go now!!!!!:teeth:

Hi, Elaine.

Thanks for the warning. We've had the same warning from CAA. The first few times, we took the detour to Charleston, WV, but the last few times we have gone through Summersville. So far, we have observed the speed limit, and haven't had a problem. I've never heard it said that the tickets aren't legitimate, so I don't think it's a problem as long as we keep it legal. And the scenery is gorgeous. Much better appreciated when not barreling down the highway at a million miles an hour.

That's what we're doing.
