March 10, 2012 - Eastern on the Magic

Trying to get my 10 posts in for Fe...and have so many questions, so may be taking some liberty on posting.

Has anyone done the wine package? We are considering one as we like a glass with dinner and figure it might be the easiest thing to do. Any thoughts?

My DS is 4 years old. We just got moved to early dining thinking it was best for him. Don't think he would make it to a dinner until 10pm. But he might stay awake for the shows that are later.

Anyone have an opinion on which is better? We don't mind either, just doing the best for him.

Welcome Janette311! I have added you and your family to the Roll Call on page 2. It's really just a list of all the DISers who are onboard.

If you are interested in the FE (that's Fish Extender) -- it's really sort of like a Secret Santa gift exchange. If you wish to participate (we have set a deadline of Feb. 10 to commit), just say so and get your post count up to 10. Then you can PM me your details (email, stateroom number).

Yes, please include me in FE. I will work on my posts and get all my info to you.

DH - 36
DS - 4 (logan)

My vote is for early dinner.

When we did our first cruise our DD was about 4. We did the early seating and loved it. The show would keep her up and then she would crash within 5 min of her head hitting the pillow. We vote for early seating especially with younger kids.

Hi!

We have early seating too, and thought it would be a good idea with the kids, until we realized the following:

We fly from TX to FL on Saturday, therefore our dinner will feel like it is 4:15.

Then, from Saturday to Sunday, it is daylight saving, so Sunday's dinner will feel like it is at 3:15.

Then, as we are cruising east to our first port destination, we change time zone once more, so Monday's dinner will feel like a mid-afternoon snack at 2:15!!!

But, we'll be in good shape to stay up at night and enjoy the nightlife (hopefully, while the kids are at their different clubs)

I would agree that the early dinner is better for little ones. I've heard too many stories of melt downs / falling asleep at the table by over tired kiddies!

We did early last time (my kids were 8 & 10 then) and it worked out fine.

Yep, early here too. The kids have dinner with us, then off to the clubs. And DH and I have some nice adult time....i don't think they could wait until 8:15 to eat.
Main dining is most popular, and always good to book. You can change to late on board, but main ( early) is hard to switch too.

Thanks everyone for all the great info! We have made peace with our early seating decision!

Another question, does anyone drive and park at the port? We are in South Florida and will be driving up Saturday morning but don't know where to park. Is there a "park n fly?" Any thoughts on the matter?

Thanks

Can anyone tell me if there is pineapple juice at the free juice bar? I know there are sodas, coffee and some juices...just wondering on one particular one.

Thanks

Hi Janette and welcome! What day is your birthday? Mine is the 14th and my DD's is the 16th! :cool1:

Mine is the 11th! Fun day at sea for us and they planned formal night just for me. Can you believe everyone is getting dressed up to celebrate my special day?

Just Kidding...what a great way to celebrate for you and your DD. Fun to have the bday's so close together. Go Pisces!

I'm don't sew, so I made my FE out of stiffened felt and foam! It worked pretty well! Now I'm working on the gifts. I'm in that lull where I think I'm fairly ready, but the frenzy of packing etc... will soon be here. I usually get myself so worked up (stressed, excited, etc) that I get terribly run down and sick during vacation. My family all say I'm allergic to Disney because it never fails! I haven't even had a sniffle this year, so if it happens again, I'll be inclined to agree!

Hi everyone,

I just emailed the spreadsheet to all FE participants. I didn't get any bounce backs, so let's hope everything landed okay! If not, please PM me and I'll re-send.

I noticed on the main cruise board that the Castaway Club gifts have been changed -- there is a photo on the thread of a nice looking backpack, keychain and treats.

Also, I was reading about the Fantasy's christening in NYC at the beginning of March, and the story said she is supposed to be in Port Canaveral on March 6. Very much hoping to see her!

Now it's off to tackle a pile of ironing. We snuck away for a weekend to WDW last weekend, and now I need to polish up the warm weather clothes before they get set aside for the cruise.

Cheers!

I've been so preoccupied with a work thing that I just looked at the calendar for real today. AH! I am so not ready for this!
