March 10, 2012 - Eastern on the Magic

On our last cruise, a number of us DISers got together to go to the evening festivities in Rockin Bar D on Sail Away night -- there was a scavenger hunt (very silly but fun, since we won of course!) as well as a Match Your Mate contest.

I'm wondering if anyone knows if these activities are still offered? I know that things have changed a bit from last year. I haven't been able to find much in the way of updated Eastern Navigators online.

And I'm wondering if any of you would like to join us? Our DD will have ditched us for the Edge at that point!

That was a blast! I'll be there!

Just booked Port Orleans Riverside for a couple of days after the cruise since our flight home isn't until Monday. Going to hit Downtown Disney, hang out in the pool(s), etc. :cool1:

Love being able to use Magical Express for the ride to the Airport!

Now to figure out where we are staying BEFORE the cruise ... leaning towards Country Inn & Suites. Anyone else staying there? We are flying in on Thursday.

Oh yes! We will be there for sure! That is the one night I'm most looking forward to in Rockin Bar D. Loved those games last time! Better wear a good bra that night! :lmao:

DundasDad, I approve of your after-cruise stay choice! :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

And for finishline413, we each bring 2 b-suits, although one is fine. They don't take up much room and I hate a wet suit! Haven't decided on formal wear yet. DH is keen to dress up, but I'm not - weird reversal...

Who's itching to start packing??

Thanks for the advice on packing! We have made our packing list. I have had to force myself to not start packing at this point. :goodvibes Although, we do have a plan in place.

Sounds like FUN! I will check with the DH and see if the DGM can watch the DS while the DD is at her club!

OOH! ME!!! :rotfl: I refuse to let myself start packing until February, cause you know, that seems a lot more sane... but in a few weeks, my suitcase will be out and ready to go!

Is it technically "packing" when I'm hanging things on the back of a door?:confused3
Nah!

And as to pre- and post-cruise stays, we are arriving a couple days early and staying at the Wilderness Lodge Villas. Never been there, and are really looking forward to it. We'll be renting a car to drive to the port on Saturday, March 10.

On our first cruise we stayed at the Courtyard in Cocoa Beach and were really impressed. It's further away from the port though, not too far from Ron Jon's.

You'll LOVE Wilderness Lodge - we haven't stayed in the villas, but we've done the resort twice!

Not sure if any of you are still in the market for some bathing suits. We found some on sale today at Walmart...$5.00 for DH and $5.00 for DS.

You crack me up!
We have stayed at the Wilderness Lodge several times...we love it. Make sure to eat at Whispering Canyon, it is a fun place. We enjoy taking the boat over to MK.

It's so close now!

We don't get into Orlando until late Friday night, so we booked an airport hotel with a shuttle. SPRINGHILL suites.
We also booked Tiffany Town Car for the next morning.
Any one have experience with them?
We were going to book a minivan for $85.00 from Budget as there are 6 of us, but I really don't want to worry about looking to fill it up with gas, wait for a shuttle, etc.
We usually get a van , so any reviews on Tiffany would be great.
Also.....if anyone is upgraded in the next few weeks.....please post!
On our past 4 cruises we have been lucky in the upgrade dept. !
Hoping my luck has not run out!

Hi,

I need 4 more posts before I can PM to give our info for participating with the FE, so I'll post questions in different posts!!!

This will be our first Disney cruise and even though I'm not blonde:rolleyes1, I'm confused with the dress code for the dinners, mostly for the men in my party, which is everybody but me!!! Please help me get it all straight!

We will have one night of Formal Dining, DH will need jacket and tie, or is tie optional?, Sons (11, 9, 5) will also need jacket, or is dress shirt and tie ok?

Do we have semi-formal? if so, what is the dress code?

Then, there is cruise casual: I know it says no shorts, are bermudas considered shorts? otherwise, it's pants for the men/boys. if shorts are not allowed, are jeans permitted? how about t-shirt (I'm mostly asking for the boys), will it fly or should we really condition them that they will be wearing polo shirts (or dressier) for each and every dinner?

Thanks for your help!... here comes another post with another question!!!

Hi all!

We'll be joining you on this cruise. This will be our first Disney Cruise. DH and I cruise way back when with Carnival, that was before the kids came into the picture!!! We're originally from Canada (as a few other cruisers I've seen post previously!), but are now living in the US.

Traveling with me will be DH (we're both early 40s), and DSs, 11 (turning 12 in April), 9 and 5 (turning 6 on 3-23). We will be celebrating DS#3's birthday during the cruise.

We wish to participate in the FE exchange. I explained to the kids tonight what it required from them (distribution) and that we would get some in return and they were all excited!!!

Please add us to both roll call and FE!

Another post with another question to follow so I can PM!

Sorry about the numerous posts.

Thanks!

I read that some of you already scheduled and received your calls from (I assume) Mickey.

I've never done this, so, I realize you can set the day, but can you also set the time the call will come in?

TIA,

Sauterelledesiles

Also, St. Thomas has the cheapest price for alcohol that we have experience in any of the ports we have visited. It's the local Kmart. Yes, Kmart. Just folllow all the crew members , and you will find it. Again walking distance from the ship, or a short cab ride.
We bought 6 bottles and carried them right on the ship. Kmart had special boxes ready to go or cruise passengers.

Will DCL allow you to bring those bottles back on the ship and open them? I know there is a corking fee, but what if you do it in your own room? and what Kmart sells, is it only wine and beer or can you find vodka/rhum/spirits?

Again, TIA

I've been "dreaming" all day and been working on prepping our cruise. Again, more questions!

How do you know if you have been upgraded? Will DCL send you an e-mail with updated info and you need to compare it to the old one?

We are thinking of purchasing some of the bottled Evian water DCL is offering. Is the water from the tap in our bathroom drinkable? Is it recommended that we don't drink the water from the tap? If we want ice cubes, do we need to ask our stateroom stewart? And, what size are those Evian Bottles? 500ml?

Thanks!

I can now PM papertraveller with our info!!!
