March 10, 2012 - Eastern on the Magic

Hi everyone,

I can feel the excitement starting to build. It's getting cold up here in the Great White North, so we're ready for a Caribbean getaway!

I have updated the FE list on page 2 (and the roll call too). I am missing information for a few families (two just need to send me emails, and the other four are just MIA). I have sent a PM to everyone requesting the missing info.

I'll give everyone until next weekend to see if I get some updates, and I'll send out the draft FE list then. I know it's helpful for everyone to know numbers, and ages of the kids.

As proposed previously, our cut-off will be Feb. 10. That gives everyone 30 days to finalize their gifts.

Here's hoping you are all well. Happy planning!

Sent you a PM....never received a PM from you so I just sent one to you. Not sure why I am not getting notifications either...didn't know the thread was updated.

Hi all... what a surprise I get when my husband emails me (from business trip) to let me know his reservation (there's 5 of us, so 2 rooms, 2 reservations) has an outstanding balance of $52. We paid everything in December. And we even got minimal refunds last week or the week before. WTH? Has this happened to anybody else? :confused3

Of course, by the time I received the email, DCL was closed. I did send them a message via the website.

And, just to make things more confusing... the website info still states we are in good order and do not owe DCL money.

Can somebody make me feel better by suggesting a plausible cause for all this before I go nut?!?!?

Thanks for being there and I am looking forward to meeting you all!

Got an answer when I called this morning... Turns out I had to call them Sunday so that they would correct the spelling in my husband's name... Would you believe that the system automatically charges $52 for corrections... even if it wasn't our fault???? And, again, automatically, the system sends an e-mail with an updated "invoice", but the fees were waived... luckyly

I'm glad you got an answer, but wow, that's crazy that they'd automatically charge that fee regardless of who was at fault! That's good info to have and and watch out for in case we ever need to make any changes!

Glad that it worked out for you! :goodvibes

We are staying at the Country Inn & Suites in Coco Beach. Anyone stayed there before and have comments and how far is the drive to the port.

I think that one is actually in Cape Canaveral. If so, probably 5 minutes. If it's a different one than it won't be more than 10-15 minutes. Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach are not big towns.
We go to Cocoa Beach all the time (we're actually trying to move there!) and are quite familiar with the area. If it is the Country Inn I'm thinking of, we're staying next door at the Residence Inn. :)

What the heck? Good thing you caught it. I assume you goy that fixed?

Has anyone received their cruise paperwork in the mail? (the booklet with the luggage tags) We are on the look out and know that any day we will receive them, but just curious if anyone gt them yet.:hourglass

FYI

You should have received a credit from DCL to your credit card. I received two credits for two staterooms, ABOUT $20 for each credit. It is for a reduction in port fees.:thumbsup2

Not sure why you would be charged something after paying in full.....
Maybe they made an error? If your account is in good standing, I would wait to see........

Opps, sorry....I see that you posted earlier....

Problem resolved!
;)

Up here in Canada, we usually receive our cruise packages about 30 days or so before sail date. They come through Puerolator.

It seems so official when they arrive!

We're staying at the Country Inn & Suites as well from Thurs - Sat! From all I've seen, great reviews for the place.

Anyone been to Aquatica? We are considering it post cruise.

We have not been, but would love to. I looked at this as an option post cruise, but they are only open until late afternoon in March. I didn't think it was worth the money by the time we would get there.

Good point. We plan to blast off the boat asap to get to whatever we are wanting to do. Lots of options. We'll have a couple of options based on how exhausted we are and the weather. What are you thinking of doing?

Right now we are booked at the Marriott World center for the night. After our last cruise we stayed at the Yacht Club and hung out at the pool. I'm thinking of trying one of the Universal Hotels, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I'm staying on points at the Marriott so I'm not sure I want to drop a few hundred dollars on a room at Universal.

I have circulated the draft FE list to everyone who has supplied me with an email address. Still waiting to hear from two family groups, to whom I have sent PMs asking for info.

We are so excited -- one of DD's friends and her dad will be joining us on this cruise. When he was booking last night the computer showed only four rooms available on the ship, but I suppose is not much of a surprise given the time of year.

We have linked our dining reservation with them, and are trying not to overwhelm them with all of the info on activities and restaurants and shows and shore excursions. We'd like their first cruise to be relaxing, too! :rotfl2:

I doubt they'll be joining us for the FE, but I think we will have BFF over one afternoon soon for some magnet making.

Now I'm off to amend our car rental booking to upgrade to a minivan to carry all of us to the port!

Cancel that plan!

I booked our rental car in August and got a full-size at Budget for $60 all in, one-way to Port Canaveral. (We've had great experiences with the staff at the Port Canaveral office, btw.)

But rebooking now to upgrade to a minivan would be $150 one way ... so DH has determined that the five of us will now fit. Guess it's easy for him -- he'll be driving, and not stuck with a bag on his lap! :rotfl2:

We booked through Budget as well - enjoyed my experience with them at PC last year:thumbsup2

Hi,

DS#1 is 11 and is actually looking forward to going to The Edge. I know some of you have cruised before with tweens... What is your experience with them coming and going freely from the club? I know we'll have a Wave phone (actually 4 since we have two rooms) and we'll be able to reach him at all time (hopefully!).

Waiting to hear from you experience!
