I am going to be in town Friday (1/8) - Sunday (1/10.) I want to go to MK and Epcot and then have a day at Disney Springs/resort hopping. Any thoughts about which days to which park based on the marathon? Touring plans has both parks between a 5/6.

I went the weekend on the marathon 14y ago and there were no issues and Epcot was dead - but the whole running program has grown a lot since then!

We aren't staying on site (last minute trip) so no EMH.

Thanks!

For the last 20 years, we have been going for the marathon. We usually stay they week. I can honestly say that in 20 years we have not ever has a problem. Some waits are longer than others, but mostly no more than 15-20 minutes. To me, its the best time to go. Have a great trip. We will be there from 1/8 thru 1/15

You could have issues getting to the parks (esp MK) on Sunday if you go in the morning. Lots of roads will be closed that morning.

Do not go to Disney Springs on Sunday. All the runners who don't have park tickets go to DS. It will be beyond crowded with people wearing medals. I went to DTD/DS after the Princess 1/2 and would have been better off going into a park.

The biggest impact from Marathon weekend will be getting to places early AM Sat and Sun. If you allow extra time and use Disney transportation whenever possible you should be ok.

That's because a lot of stores and restaurants give discounts to runners for wearing their medal.

FWIW this year I was part of the hoped-for crowds at DTD and there was just no one.

2014 on marathon day I heard about the roads leading in being really jammed up, made worse by a Toys for Tots (maybe) motorcycle charity ride that went on forever. The combo ended up being bad, even for the runners in buses trying to get back to their resorts.
