DW and I will be at FW for Marathon Weekend in 2 weeks. Just found out that DW will be a volunteer for the 5K on Friday. She has to be at EPCOT at 4:00AM and race doesn't start until 7:00. I was planning to go Goofy again but since DW, motorhome and I will be in the EPCOT parking lot at 4:00AM I asked DW to register me for the 5K. Another Dopey year for me. :cool1:

Just wondering who else will be at FW for the weekend's events, what races will you be competing in and will you be taking your RV to EPCOT like us.

We parked at EPCOT for this year's events and really enjoyed having the MH there. We were able to chill-out, eat something and use our facilities before the races. After finishing we showered, ate breakfast, relaxed and then hit the Parks before driving back to FW.

Good luck to all. :thumbsup2

John,

What a great idea to take the entire RV over to the parking lot. There are some extended pre-race waits. I did the Whole once and remember hiding in a port-o-let for nearly an hour to get out of the wind before the rope drop. My one Whole was a month short of my 40th birthday. I did the 5k-Half-10k-
Whole in consecutive years (I finished and that was all that mattered). My next decade is rapidly approaching. Maybe I can work up to the half.

So good luck, break a leg, make sure you get your picture taken with Snow White if she's by the side of the road <she's hot :3dglasses>

Enjoy your accomplishment! :cool2:

We will be there January 2012!

My better half ran the full marathon this past January and I ran the half marathon. Then we both did the Disneyland Half this past September, so we got the Coast to Coast medal. And now we are both doing the full marathon January 2012. My goal is to beat Oprah's time of 4:30 but I'm not sure that is going to happen for me.

In January 2011, we did not move the RV to the Epcot parking lot because we're not sure what that entails. Are we allowed to park the RV in the Epcot Center parking lot for free overnight? What time do you move the RV there? Don't they start closing roads and isn't the traffic terrible - which route to Epcot do you take? Are you allowed to run your generator all night? Is there a special RV parking lot?

We might just take the shuttle they provide again.

We did DL for the C2C also and vowed not to return to DL. Not our cup of tea.

I like getting to EPCOT early so we broke camp by 3:30AM. Out of FW and left on Vista, right on Bonnet Creek, right on E Buena Vista, right on World Drive into EPCOT and follow CMs directions. It was a breeze. :thumbsup2 From MH to entrance was 100 yards. Ran generator, slides out and jacks down on pads.

We made the mistake of departing the Fort on the day of the marathon. I ran out early in the morning to fill up my truck with gasoline before hooking up the trailer -- a 3 mile drive took over an hour! Traffic was bumper-to-bumper and barely moving. That would have been a good day to hunker down and just enjoy the Fort.

So, how did it go?

The drive to EPCOT at 2:30AM took 20 minutes. Pulled into lot, jacks down, slide out, generator on then HEAT on. :thumbsup2 While other competitors were cold, we relaxed, had the tube on and waited until last minute to line-up.

Worked out great having the MH there because I had to call DW on cell at the 1.5 mile mark of the marathon when my knees started to act up. She got my braces and met me as I entered EPCOT.

Overall we had another great Marathon Weekend. Will be doing the ToT 10 Miler in Sept. then the W&D 1/2 Marathon in Oct. and of-course the 2013 Marathon Weekend.

bigredbill....sorry for the traffic jam.

We had problems getting around the fort one other time in the past. Planning a last minute trip the end of January.
