Marathon Weekend 2026

Good morning! Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who helped me a few weeks ago with my post-injury training plan.

I ended up doing a 7.5 mile run last Saturday and a 10 yesterday, so I felt confident enough to purchase flights and book a hotel room (AKL Jambo House). I still don’t know if I’ll end up stopping after MK, AK, or try to make it the whole way, but the Galloway run/walk plan is really working for me and I’m thrilled to have made it this far. Thanks again!

Re: merch selling out. rundisney is super hit-and-miss with how much they stock of stuff. Spirit jerseys (still available for pre-order last I saw) tend to go quickly, the moderate sizes of jackets usually are gone the first day, and dopey hoodies outside of the very small are usually gone in the first few hours, if not during club rD shopping. I feel like the dopey hoodies last year sold out really quickly due to the weather, but also because they were not too busy, and a more "neutral" design if that makes sense. And the sizing was actually pretty accurate (unlike the 90s weekend when they ran about 3 sizes smaller than labeled)

Back from Disney and woke up to this and it’s supposed to be very cold this week. I guess it’s the indoor track or go back to WDW

Yeah . It's looked like that here for a month, and we are well on our way to getting a foot of snow this weekend. And then it's supposed to get into the low 40s for a few days midweek and everything is going to be a huge mess.

I'm going to drag myself down to the basement at some point today to work on test-running the newest pair of adrenalines I picked up to make sure there are no differences between a mens 9 and womens 10.5-wide. There *shouldn't* be, but I've definitely run into slight size differences between colors in my shoes in the past.

Looks beautiful there!

Similar weather here in mid-Michigan. I had 16 on the docket this morning as the tail end of a simulation, 2-4-8-16. Lots happening today so I had to get up super early to get the run done. It was soooo cold. With the wind it was 2 below and I felt every bit of it. I guess it is true that it is coldest before the dawn. I was all settled in to the temp and then towards the end of the run every walk phase was absolute torture, little walked backwards a few times to avoid going face first the wind. It made me want to race the last few miles to get out of the weather. But I am trying very hard to stick to my plan given the hip issues I had in October. Hip is feeling a lot better but makes me nervous to push it. So long run, slow pace and freeze or pick it up to warm up and maybe hurt my hip. Came up with third option, the last four miles would be best on the treadmill. Have not done that in so long! But it was a good decision!

There used to be a DIS member, McFlurrieJohn (?) on previous Marathon Weekend threads who would do that every year. Sounds fun but I would instantly regret that choice!

He often posted/s on the DIS Camping board @John VN and yes he did detour down to the McD for a McFlurrie. There was one year when he and I overlapped on the Full Marathon and I told him I wanted a McF with him but his pace was too fast for me.

However, his legend lives on. :thumbsup2

EDIT: I shoulda read the whole thread thru to the end b4 posting but @garneska and the star himself @John VN weighed in on previous pages. But what a cool idea he has.

Slightly off topic- I'm trying to figure out grocery delivery
We will have a car and are planning on picking up a few things at Target for race day. Bagels or English muffins, bananas and peanut butter. I obviously will not eat it all myself, so it will go to waste. Still cheaper than buying the resort race day packs though. If anyone is staying at the Swan, we will be happy to share!

Good morning RunDisney All-Stars! Welcome to this week's edition of Sundays are for Disney (SAFD). We're getting close enough to Marathon Weekend to start looking at the weather and we're seeing a cold snap sweep across the country this weekend. Long range forecasts look like things are setting up for an extended period of above average temps in the Southeast after this cold air passes. Will that carry through MW? Only time will tell. All that being said, what does your ideal Marathon Weekend weather look like?

SAFD: I get cold and chilled very easily. My ideal Marathon Weekend weather would be overnight lows in the mid- to upper 50s for relatively comfortable race waits and starts. I'd love to see that coupled with daytime highs in the mid- to upper 70s for pleasant park temperatures. Here's hoping for something like that and not too much variance in either direction!

I've already listed my desires of warm temps through Friday evening (upper 70s for highs would be amazing!) and then "normal" temps for the HM and M (50-65 deg range) followed by a nice mid-70s Monday for DATW.

Basically, warm enough to take a pool break or 2, not need a winter jacket and hat/gloves, not shivering in the start area and wearing a thick outer-layer over my costumes for the duration of the race, etc.

SAFD: I second @Dopey 2020 and @accm, with temperature hopes of 45-50 during the races and a warm up right after the last finisher for pool time!

Training update: I did my full Goofy simulation this weekend (for schedule reasons), getting it in before the snow/ice! The last long run is such a big deal, whatever the length. I kept thinking to myself, "This is the real challenge, and the race weekend is the victory lap." Good luck to everyone hitting those peak miles over the next week or two!!
