Marathon Weekend 2026

SAFD:
OK, I know I was literally just complaining about how cold I was on a run today. But if we are talking a perfect temp for the races I would prefer to be a little cold. Race starts in the mid 40’s and on marathon day finishing in high 50’s; that would be perfect for me. But add to that a jump up into the 70’s for the afternoon and then cool off in the evening.

Three and a half weeks to the expo!!

Last year when I went past Cake Bake, a CM tried to hand me a slice of cake, and I declined! I was too close to the end to stop and eat it, and I couldn’t see running the last few miles carrying it!

Yeah, I miss Teetz’s posting, but I see him pretty regularly at the Expo, or on the big screen with his spaghetti costume being interviewed at W& D, and on his YouTube channel, so haven’t totally lost touch with him.😁 Glad that @lhermiston will be back. You two were some of my favorite entertainment a few years back! I’ll never forget the look on Mary Poppins’ face. IYKYK
Teetz has a youtube channel Ryan On The Run that contains a lot of runDisney content.

SAFD: Last year's weather (aside from the rain before the HM) was pretty darn perfect. I'd take 40s at the start maybe up into the 50s by end of the half (not running the marathon this year). I'd pick sunny and 60s for DATW, but low 70s would be acceptible too. Just no extreme heat and no thunderstorms, please.

I did 14 today for my marathon training. I was craawwwwwling the last two miles! I was pleasently surprised to still be under 16 min overall. Not far under, but under. I know I should be going further but I’m still working up from missing most of October. My plan is to do 16 on the 26th as my last long run. But I’m kinda like how can I go 12 more miles than I did today?! Hoping the energy of the day carries me through.

SAFD: I feel like it would be smarter to plead the 5th.

If I'm honest, I'd like the mornings to be in the mid 60s and the afternoons to be in the mid 80s, including the day of the marathon. I'll even take rain and those temperatures above cold and dry. Now to go into witness protection after I post this. :duck:

I totally concur with these temperature ranges.
That said, I can deal with a race start temp in the mid 50's as long as it keeps warming, preferably to low 70s at race finish, and then low to mid 80s in the afternoon.

As for merch: yeah, the Dopey stuff seems to go quickly, so a lot of non-Dopey runners are buying it up, which in my book is Not Cool. The one year I did it, all I wanted was a mug, a magnet, and a shirt. The magnets and mugs were all gone, so I had to make my own. The one Dopey shirt left was a size too small (fits a little better these days) and probably (gads) a women's shirt. So one of the biggest accomplishments I've ever done, and practically no merch to show for it.
It honestly never occurred to me that people would be buying up the merch for a race they weren't entered in. It just ain't right!

No tomatoes from me!

I ran over 17 miles last weekend in single digit temps on fresh snow (felt like running on sand) but threw in the towel this weekend for my 12 miler and did it on the treadmill, as we have been in double digit sub-zero Fahrenheit temps. I think a 60+ degree marathon start would send me to the hospital :rotfl:

SAFD: That said, Marathon and Princess this year were a bit too cold in the corrals, even for me. If it looks like it'll be that cold again I need to spring for some throwaway coats. I would prefer the corral temps to be in the 50s, and race temps to be 50s to low 60s. 40s in Florida, with the humidity, is just a little too bone-chilling for me.

Please no. No warm weather marathons. It’s bad enough I need to train when it’s in the 80s. I don’t want to race in it too.

It would be fine with me if it was like this or maybe five degrees cooler. I hate running with cold muscles and lately they’ve stayed cold all the way through all runs. Georgia is not supposed to be in the 20s-30s almost every morning for weeks at a time!

SAFD: I want it to be cold enough that I need throwaway layers at the start, but not cold enough that I'm shivering even with the layers. Last year's marathon was almost perfect - it would have been nice to be like 5 degrees warmer at the start so I didn't need leggings at all. But it got too sunny later; even though it was only in the 50s when I finished, I felt SO warm because of the sun. So I'll take 45-50 degrees at the start and 55-60 degrees and cloudy at the finish, please! Then immediately warm up to 75. That's not too much to ask for, is it? :P

But truthfully, I'll settle for no inclement weather and no needing to cut the course short for any reason.

To tie in with SAFD, here is the still too early weather forecast for MW. I am in Toronto for work the next couple of days, and I will take gladly take anything warmer than here. LOL.

Thursday, 1/8: High 75, Low 53, 25% chance of rain
Friday, 1/9: High 74, Low 55, 5% chance of rain
Saturday, 1/10: High 75, Low 52, 25% chance of rain
Sunday, 1/11: High 74, Low 53, 55% chance of rain

I will take those temps every day. The only thing I hope goes down, is the chance of run on marathon day. Running in wet shoes and socks is not fun.
