Marathon Weekend 2025

There's a slight chance that if you speak to runner relations with your proof of time, they may make a corral adjustment. As someone said earlier in the thread, the answer is always "no" for a question you don't ask
It really doesn't matter, the friend I'm running with didn't submit a POT and I was going to move back to his corral regardless.

But it has been nice having the higher corral them him in past races, it made a good bantering point.

We're planning on Rope Dropping the expo on Friday.
I've heard there is some beer deal... I'm not interested in that, but my FIL might be....? Is there food options there or should we have lunch at the resort before we go to ESPN?

Usually ESPN Sports Grill is open and Wetzel Pretzels. I think there might be a couple other snack options.

SAFD: My daughter (not running, lol) and I are flying Tuesday morning arriving that evening from California. Staying at Pop and heading to the expo Wednesday to get my Dopey merch! Park days Thur, Fri and Sun and taking Saturday off after the half to chill. I'm liking the cooler temps predicted and hope for little to no rain, but it is what it is... Hope everyone has a magical race week!

I believe the beer deal you are referring to is the souvenir cup. You spend like $15 for your first beer and get to keep the cup. Refills are like $7? I don’t remember the exact pricing, unfortunately.

SAFD - My best friend/travel partner and I leave Buffalo mid-morning on Tuesday. Thankfully, it is a nonstop flight AND we have gotten next to no snow so assuming that our flight originates in Orlando (it seems like a lot of Jet Blue's nonstop flights are simply shuttles back and forth from two airports), we might be okay. Our flight lands around 1 p.m. and then it's Uber to our hotel (we stay and play on the dark side at Universal) and then off to the parks. Goal for Tuesday night is to see CineSational for the first time (sadly, without the drones) on the one night that we DON'T have to up the next morning.

Wednesday is going to be park time, pick up our rental car at the hotel, do grocery shopping and a massive amount of time at the Expo with the order of the above depending on what VQ spot we get.

Thursday is a park day. Friday might be a park day or a hotel day, depending on how I feel (I've tried doing the parks this day in previous Dopeys and both times have wound up bailing early because I just wasn't feeling it). Saturday is a rest day, only heading to Disney Springs for the Rise & Run meet-up and dinner (and Gideon's cookies). If I feel up to it, Sunday evening might be more park time.

Monday we'll probably rope drop, stay until lunch time, and then try to sleep all afternoon as we have tickets for After Hours at the Magic Kingdom.

Tuesday morning is a relatively early (I think it leaves around 10ish) nonstop flight home.

Driving down via I-95, I-4 Tuesday morning
Thanks for clearing the way! We’ll be making that trek later on.

Kids school got called out tomorrow for winter precipitation. Thinking Tuesday will too.

So with that said, we may be trying to leave tomorrow afternoon to beat the snow and icy roads Tuesday morning!

Saw this posted on IG. Do we think this means the EWP barges will be out (and lit and playing) between GF and MK?!?! Of all the years for me NOT to resurrect that costume! (Kidding -- there's no way I could wear that contraption for either distance.)

Love seeing this! It will be fun to have some new things to see this year with the changes in the course. Leading up to the race I always love spotting these signs and getting a preview of some of the entertainment and characters that will be out and about. Thanks for sharing!

I believe it’s around $7 too. If you put the cup in your bag drop bag, you can use it to get the discount at the beer truck in the finish area.

SAFD: I haven’t slept in my own bed since Dec 15 so I guess that’s when I unofficially started my journey 😝. Had a weeklong training in Orlando and then flew directly to Wisconsin to see my in laws for Christmas. Then we drove south to see my family for the holidays as well. Fortunately, we have company holiday time off from Dec 21-Jan 1. Since then we spent a few days working remotely in southern Florida but I finally arrived to WDW yesterday. Due to the mini grand tour of the USA, I’ve already packed for all weather conditions 😊. It might not be my preferred outfit, but I have running clothes for every situation (and three pairs of running shoes 🤣).

We explored Disney Springs yesterday evening and I noticed the Art of Disney shop has hat embroidery. If you aren’t planning to go to MK, that would be a good spot to get your finisher’s ears decorated. You could alternatively go to the Christmas shop next door to get the ears painted.

Temps keep coming up and rain chances keep increasing for the half. Per my local (100 miles west of WDW) news, it probably won’t involve any dangerous weather, just rain. If you haven’t already, you might wanna pack a poncho or two.
The chance of rain sucks, but it's a relief it will just be wet, not stormy.

In addition to the options mentioned, there are usually a few pop-up options that I've always enjoyed. At W&D they had a ratatouille, an Asian noodle bowl and something else that they make fresh on-site. They are upstairs on the left just after you come up, and before you hit the ESPN grill area. That said, it's grab-and-go (seating in the grill area and outside), so if you're looking for more of a restaurant I'd head elsewhere.

assuming that our flight originates in Orlando
If you plug your flight number in at FlightAware.com there's a link (toward the top on your phone, or on the right on your computer) that says either "where's my plane" or "track inbound flight" and you can find out exactly where the flight originates from. Note that this may differ on different travel days, but the site lets you go back or forward a few days to find your exact flight (or the most recent one on the corresponding day of the week). This time of year, I always track both my flight and my inbound.

They usually have the Cilantro Express truck there. I know because my friend is extremely allergic to cilantro so I always text her a picture of it and say "it's your worst nightmare." :P
