Marathon Weekend 2025

I've been freaking out a bit about the possible rain chances for the half, then I realized that's the costume that includes a parasol! Rather than make a costume one, I found an actual child's umbrella that has the look I needed, so it may indeed become functional. :cheer2:

I'll obviously need to be super aware of other runners and double check the guidelines, but it is pretty small and may not do much good anyway. I debated even adding it as I hate carrying things, but I want it for pics.

I looked at my and my sister’s bib number for the 10K
With 609**, can we hope to be in Corral B? Put in 8:00-10:00 finish time so expecting to be in C but this low bib number gives me a bit of hope… Fingers crossed 🤞🏻
I don't think anyone else has posted the same estimates for the 10k, just the bib numbers, so we don't have much info to work with. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I would say that the 8-10 min pace estimate SHOULD put you in B, but the ongoing question with regard to these pace estimates is that if too many people mark themselves as having a faster pace, will they have to split people with that pace into different corrals? It's unclear at the moment and we'll know for sure when people start getting their bibs.

Those estimates are in the file @Herding_Cats posted upthread, but here's the chart I used for estimating corral placement for the 10K, based on previous races. But as you said, what rD actually does is anyone's guess and an 8-10 estimate could realistically put you anywhere from B to D.

Caveat on corral placement......I think anyone who registers past the initial registration period--either because RD opens spots, or charity bibs become available, or whatever--gets put last/near last. This happened to me for W&D 5k and possibly upcoming 10k. For both, I put a realistic estimate of 8-10 min. Maybe it's just a 5k/10k thing, i.e. with PoT required for Half/Full, it isn't a problem. I'm always curious at what point the data file goes to the bib printers--how much will RD review the data before that.

I hate the thought (and will not) lie to get a higher corral placement for a 5k/10k, but yeah "people"--someone is bound to. I don't care so much about my finish time, but it was a real pain for W&D when I was running with people as a group trying to arrange how to sync up.

If I end up in the corral I "should" be in based on pace, I will be extremely surprised.

I don't think this is the case. I know if you register after the proof of time deadline you're given a chance to enter your PoT and it's been honored in the cases I've heard of. I don't know why it would be different for the 5k/10k. You might get an out of sequence bib number if you register after the bibs have been printed, but I recall stickers with the appropriate corral being put on the higher bib numbers in that case.

Here's hoping they get you in the right spot!

Yep, and I have a personal example, although it was for the DL 10k, where they had more corrals: put down 8-10 min, had a POT for the half, registered separately. Got B for the half, D for the 10k. I knew there would be a lot of people marking themselves as faster racers but didn't think there'd be so many that they'd have to spread people out among more corrals.

SAFD - Land at MCO at 3pm tomorrow and checking in to the MCO Hyatt. From there will desperately be phoning around for accommodation (preferably on site). Me and the girlfriend split up yesterday so I'm no longer welcome at her parents place. No idea where to stay or what to eat - wish me luck! and appreciate people in your life! It can all go south quickly.

SAFD: Flying in from the UK on Thursday, looking at a park on Friday morning before heading to the expo in the afternoon. Chill day Saturday with minimal time on the feet. Post-race Sunday will involve a drive to Jacksonville to see friends for an afternoon/evening of beers and wild card football, before driving back to Orlando to fly out back to the UK on Monday evening. Talk about whistle-stop tour!!

SAFD: My original plans were to leave early Tuesday morning and drive down to All Star Music by 3-4pm. And get up and try to get an early VQ for RD merch.

Changed plans to leaving Tuesday after kids home from school and drive until about southern SC or northern GA. Whichever my DH is willing to do. Then get up early Wednesday and drive into WDW hopefully by late morning.

Now with the potential snow/ice Sunday pm -Tuesday am, and dependent on if school shuts down, we either leave as previously planned or maybe leave Monday afternoon early evening to try to beat the ice on the roads early Tuesday.

Once in WDW on Wednesday, we will do expo and then have a reservation at Homecomin like 4:30.

Thursday-5k, Epcot w/guardians LL early dinner at Via Napoli and then hop to HS w/Rise LL. Maybe try to catch the 7:30 fantasmic and then go home to sleep.
Friday- 10k and then head to Universal.
Saturday- Half and then no plans. May hit up universal again, try sea world, add another Disney park day or head somewhere outside of Orlando to explore.
Sunday-full and then AK w/FOP LL and hop to MK, dinner at Be Our Guest(maybe?) and Tron LL
Monday head home.

Safe travels to everyone!

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

SAFD: Leaving Thursday morning. Planning to take Mears to the hotel, have lunch and head to the expo. As of now, I also have a rental car booked so if I keep that I'll go to the expo first. Friday- run the 10K, mini golf and HH meetup, maybe Epcot. Saturday- run the half, AK (maybe) and MK. Sunday- spectate the marathon at HS, do a few rides and head home on a late flight.

Get on the website now!
We have been stalking resort discount availability and it just came through. Saved 65 bucks overall not a fortune but something....
So there are things available. Not sure your dates. Good luck

SAFD: I'm driving down on Tuesday morning. Plan to hit the Expo whenever I am ALLOWED in and then hang around the resort. I might head to Disney Springs and/or the outlets and try and find some costume inspiration given all the different weather scenarios. Super glad I have a car I can jam full of stuff because just the race clothing has filled two giant IKEA bags! Those throw away options for cold are BULKY. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the light pole on Thursday! And Friday. And Saturday. And Sunday. :P

Maybe because Im international but Disney wont let me book less than 7 days out. It says I have to go ask in person.

There are some rooms showing availability and good discounts. There was an AP rate room at AoA for $154 when I looked a few days ago. I'm sure you'll be able to get in somewhere. Have you tried Expedia? I know they usually have blocks of Disney rooms. Not sure what their booking windows are or if international matters, but might be worth checking.

Yes Expedias only showing me 3rd party hotels nearby (Wyndham).

It must be an international thing - whenever I enter my dates and press 'search' a blocker window comes up telling me I cant book less than 7 days out. I've tried the .com website but it just diverts me back to the .co.uk one.

I registered fairly late (2.5ish months ago) and with a charity and my bib number seems to put me in the right place

When and how are you heading to Disney and what are your plans when you get there?
I didn't even notice this was the SAFD post :D

We're leaving Tuesday morning, just hoping that all of this snow will be gone by then, or at least gone enough that the roads and the runways will be moving. Then we get the rental car, and then head for BWV. After that, well, most of the time will be seeing if we can break Guardians!

SAFD: Even though we bailed on the half, DH and I still made the trip. We just arrived today and are chilling at the Poly Tower and loving it! We ate at Wailulu Bar & Grill and are hanging at one of the pocket gardens right now. So relaxing! Have seen lots of runDisney gear from previous races.

SAFD: We are leaving early Thursday to drive down. Hoping to be at Coronado by 3-3:30. Will hit the expo, and grab dinner at DS. Fri DH & I run the 10k, and then do some resort hopping. Lunch ressie at WCC. Sat will rest, maybe shop at DS. Sun is my 1st marathon - we will see how I feel and determine plans. Mon will be MK (my fave). Head home Tuesday.

Have you tried using VPN?
Also remember the Priceline express deals, select Bonnet Creek location, must likely are the hotels at boardwalk

Have you tried calling? I know the time difference is crappy, but a google voice number will save you the international call costs and they may be able to at least place a hold for you.
