Marathon Weekend 2025

SAFD: on 7 am flight thru DFW arriving at 2:30pm MCO. When we first booked our flights American had a non-stop from Austin to MCO, but alas they pulled that flight several months ago. Mom will be driving from Jax, picking us up, taking us to the Expo, and then off to Beach Club. Topolino’s for dinner Wednesday, MK on Thursday, 10K and EP Friday, HS on Saturday. Dinner at Monsieur Paul on Saturday night for a celebration before heading out around noon on Sunday.

Drove to MCO this morning after hitting early entry at AK. Went to the United baggage counter and they had my iPad! Woo hoo!

The weather today is beautiful. It was cold this morning for early entry. But it’s 63 now and sunny and feels like upper 70’s with the sun out.

SAFD: “only” doing the half, so I’ll drive over on Fri to hit the expo, settle into my room, and maybe have time to hit EP for a couple hours. I leave on Monday, so only a couple days to spend with some friends I don’t get to see often enough - I’ll be doing whatever they want to do!

I started having a similar issue, only for me it’s my big toe joint. Started after doing a short run in new Cumulus 26s and now I can’t wear anything other than a couple old pairs of Altras. I’m absolutely certain that for me, the issue is lack of forefoot flex and a rockered sole, as I have no pain at all barefoot or in very flexible, low-drop shoes. Sharing in solidarity and hope you can find a solution quickly!
How new? And what are the old ones and how old are they?

So, the "old" shoes are Karhu Ikoni 2.5, which feel wonderful (more natural) to me, but I believed maybe led to some knee issues since they are low and not as cushiony. I now have 4 pairs, phasing out the older ones for the newer ones. Karhu's size up, so these are 12 wides (I normally have 11.5) and I wear them "loose" - laces not tight at all. They seem to allow my feet to spread and settle in nicely. It feels like my feet expand a bit when I run. Also my 2nd toe is longer than my big toe. I have tried Hoka's to help with the knee pain, but they were just too odd - felt like running in sand and too high off the ground for me. The Brooks Glycerin 21 I got just before Thanksgiving and I have put about 38 miles on them (also a pair of Saucony Ride 17 that I have used a few times). I have been doing some PT exercises for knees and ankles to help strengthen them and I think that has helped.

So I know that is a lot of info but this is my dilemma. Don't get me started on what to wear to keep warm in the corrals....

I’m working Thursday morning, then heading over to the expo in the afternoon. Friday I’m hitting the mini golf and HH meetups. Saturday I’m planning to spectate the HM since my boss is running, as well as cheer on all the DISers. Not sure if I’ll hang out afterward, it’ll depend on the weather. The rest of the day will be spent trying to relax before the marathon. I have no plans afterward, but reserve the right to claim birthday hibachi at a local restaurant or a last minute Disney Springs trip if I need to walk around. Monday I took off, and am planning to hit DATW.

SAFD: Leaving this evening! I was supposed to fly out tomorrow (we're going to Titusville for a day or so beforehand to visit family), but we are getting a foot of snow tomorrow in the DC metro area and I decided to get out ahead of it. Now I have to figure out what to do with an extra day in Titusville.
KSC. There's a SpaceX launch scheduled for tomorrow morning.

Not sure how to help but yeah I had issues with Brooks sizing and had to bail from them. Different issue for me, although the toe box was definitely tighter, but the heel was also higher and cut into my ankles. Actually ran MW 2022 with them, so it wasn’t THAT bad, but after that I switched to Hoka.

SAFD: We're driving over to the expo after work on Wednesday. Decided to leave the RV at home and switched our reservation from Fort Wilderness to Pop. Got some breakfasts at Boma and dinners at Mama Melrose's lined up. Winging it the rest of the weekend. We're both doing our first Dopey this weekend. Despite plenty of running experience, can't shake the anxiety.

I also switched away from Brooks recently. I was running on Adrenaline's for a couple of years. Wearing 10.5 wide to make room for my toes. I switched to Saucony Guides. They have a much wider toe box and slightly lower drop. I'm able to wear them in a standard size and they're a perfect fit.

SAFD: Flying in Tuesday, expected to land around noon and then will spend the rest of the day (after a Publix stop) expolring Coronado. Wednesday is expo day and AK, followed by four early morning wake up calls.

On a side note, I was checking to see if my expo pass was available.....and I noticed that I forgot to enter my 1:54 half as proof of time 😭😡 😭

Merritt Island National Wildlife Reserve, especially Black Point Wildlife Drive. Also, up at Haulover canal there is a manatee viewing area.

Only doing the full this year.
Flying in on Friday, get in around 11, then will head to the expo.

I plan on spectating the half on Sat, will go to Main St, then the finish. May hit up Disney Springs for lunch.

Sunday after the race, planning on taking it easy and napping, then have a dinner reservation at GF, then plan on staying to watch HEA from there or the Poly.

Was initially planning on skipping the parks this trip, but something in me decided to add a day to my trip. To either sleep in and get a good breakfast somewhere or go to the parks. Well my brother messaged me about 2 weeks ago saying that him and his family will be in Florida that week and are planning on going to MK on Monday to take their 2 boys for their first trip (6 mo and 2 yrs old). So that made that decision easy, I got a one day hopper and plan on hitting all 4 parks on Monday, and I get to see my baby nephews experience Disney for the first time!

There's a slight chance that if you speak to runner relations with your proof of time, they may make a corral adjustment. As someone said earlier in the thread, the answer is always "no" for a question you don't ask

SAFD:
I fly out Tuesday morning at 7 and should arrive at MCO around noon. I am renting a car. I plan to stop for groceries on the way to Saratoga for breakfast items and then head to MK! I’m hoping to get an early VQ for the expo on Wednesday.

I’m hoping my airport gets clear of snow and ice by tomorrow evening, so my plane will make it here to fly out Tuesday morning.

SAFD:
My whole family is flying in before me :(
They are flying in on the morning flight on Tuesday and I am flying in on the last flight I could take on Tuesday to get in another work day :( So I am not arriving till 11:30 pm :(
My husband will come pick me up though since we are renting a car. The key for me is I will be there in time for Wed expo morning to hopefully get stuff before they sell out.

We are staying at the Cabins in Copper Creek as my 40th birthday present even though my birthday was a few months ago. Super Excited 😊 Reservations for Wispering Canyon for Lunch after the Half and Storybook Dining for dinner after the Marathon. Super happy with those two reservations. Esp being able to meet Dopey after hopefully completing my first Dopey. 😀

We have reservations at different parks through out the week. We shall see how much park time I actually do with the family. We have APs so makes it easy for us. I might be chillen in my hot tub a lot in the cabin ;)

We also have on Saturdays a jedi trainer coming to our Cabin to teach my son for his birthday. We are celebrating his birthday on the trip too. He will be turning 8 in Jan. So that should be fun.

I looked at my and my sister’s bib number for the 10K
With 609**, can we hope to be in Corral B? Put in 8:00-10:00 finish time so expecting to be in C but this low bib number gives me a bit of hope… Fingers crossed 🤞🏻
I don't think anyone else has posted the same estimates for the 10k, just the bib numbers, so we don't have much info to work with. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I would say that the 8-10 min pace estimate SHOULD put you in B, but the ongoing question with regard to these pace estimates is that if too many people mark themselves as having a faster pace, will they have to split people with that pace into different corrals? It's unclear at the moment and we'll know for sure when people start getting their bibs.

SAFD: Since I'm 'only' doing the marathon, we aren't flying in until Friday. Right now there is a slight chance of snow in DFW on Thursday so hopefully it will get cleared by Friday and we won't have any delays. Texans can't deal with this winter weather... Assuming all is on time, we will land in the afternoon then drive to BWV with ADRs at Trattoria. I would love to spectate the HM from BWV Saturday morning then we'll be going to HS. I'm planning on doing packet pick-up that afternoon while my daughter naps, then dinner at Flying Fish. After the marathon on Sunday, we'll be flexible based on my recovery needs + toddler, then we have the rest of the week to enjoy the parks. My husband and I are doing the MK After Hours Monday night, so I'm excited for that. Plus seeing the park through my daughter's eyes will be so special! Excited to meet some of you Sunday morning :)
