Marathon Weekend 2024

SAFD: Summer weather running fan here. Shoes, shorts, shirt, headphones, go. Simple and no thinking. Our cooler months vary in temps and I find the right layering plan a bit difficult to master, plus more variables such as wind, rain, etc create temptations to skip, at least for me. I find this time of year so much easier both in gear and sticking to a routine.

I run early (5am+) so beat the sun and other than a rare morning storm rolling through I don’t even think twice about the weather, which is nice.

My longest Dopey training run last year was around when that huge freak cold snap was impacting much of the country in December and it was my personal version of hell. Very much in awe/admiration of those that have much harsher winters and gladly log miles in conditions I couldn’t even fathom.

SAFD:

Good morning runDisney All-stars!

I was cleaning out some boxes in my closet and found some Disney stuff I had packed up long ago, it included a Disneyland ticket booklet that my mom gave to me many years ago. Way back in the day you would purchase the ticket books and use the tickets to go on rides at Disneyland. The tickets went from A to E with the most popular rides as E-ticket rides and the least popular rides as A-ticket rides.

Leading to today’s question - what is you favorite “less-popular” attraction?

My answer:
I love the Country Bear Jamboree and Carousel of Progress, both have seen much better days, both are long gone from Disneyland and at Disney World are completely outdated. I have watched them so many times that I have them completely memorized. Yet, I still absolutely love them. Both are a must do on every trip. The AC certainly does not hurt that is for sure, but what keeps me going back are the memories, the feels, the nostalgia.

People mover. Carousel of progress and tiki room are mine. Love them all. Would be so sad if they went away.

SAFD: I too have a soft spot for the people mover. When I was in high school, my friends and I used to ride it over and over late at night. Usually if there wasn't a line, the cast members just let us stay on as it came back around to the start.

I also enjoy Muppet Vision 3D.

SAFD: I feel like I generally prefer the older, less popular rides at Disney. My absolute favourite is Carousel of Progress. It is one of the few "must ride" rides we have as a family.
I also love the People Mover, but I feel like it's popularity has grown recently. We even had to wait in a line to ride it on our last trip.

SAFD:
Carousel of Progress. I watched the Tiki Room show last trip for the first time in many years and it didn't do much for me. Sorry. I haven't seen Country Bears in years and years and will have to check it out when I'm back in September. I have also not been in the Swiss Family Tree House in 20 years and should check it out again.
