Marathon Weekend 2024

SAFD I used to use the Galloway plan from runDisney, then slowly started tweaking it. Now my shortest run in any given week is five miles so I wont start the “plan” for several weeks into it. Mostly I just wing it using the long run distances as a guideline, fitting in a couple simulated Dopeys, running Wine and Dine, and trying to toss in a speed workout every other week.

SAFD: I'm planning to run Space Coast the Sunday after Thanksgiving, so MW will be just coming back from marathon recovery and I'll be taking it pretty easy (I'm just doing the half, which helps). I'm working on putting together my own training plan for Space Coast, with lots of advice from Billy and others on the boards! You can follow along on the process in my training journal if you're interested - I took a slight detour into mile training when I switched from MCM to Space Coast but will get back to the marathon plan soon.
I'm tempted to run that race as well. Great timing with gorgeous medals!

Why they don't play up Life Day in Galaxy's Edge, I have no idea.

They had Life Day merch when I was there last Christmas, but sadly nothing specific to Lumpy, Itchy, or Malla (Chewbacca’s family). Since canon Life Day involves Jefferson Starship and Harvey Korman, I’d love to see the imagineers take a stab at that.

I seem to recall Disney sening all the lights back to Arkansas when they retired the show. I don't believe they still have them.

No dream lights for Cinderella’s Castle and no Osborne Lights. Incredibly disappointing that they continue to eschew practical effects that require more planning and effort for projections. Projections can be a good thing when integrated well; they’re not as charming when they’re the only thing.

It’s sad that they’re doing the same thing with so many movies. Quicker and cheaper to use CGI (and, in a disturbingly high number of cases, bad CGI) than to execute practical effects.

I am sooooo sad about the dream lights. They used to have them on during the races when MW was early in January, right? The projections do not make for a great picture. So dim when it is dark! There’s nothing special about the projections when they project things on the castle all year now.

I’m very disappointed by the lack of announcement about the dream lights. I’ve been two separate Christmas seasons when the projections have been used, and before seeing the picture posted above, I honestly couldn’t have told you what they looked like. That’s how not special it feels.
The Dream Lights on the other hand, I haven’t seen since 2010, and I still have a perfect memory of it.
I truly hope they’ve either just omitted the information or have a change of heart and bring it back. At this point, I’d be happy seeing it one last time with my kids.

I miss the Dream Lights. :(

The Osborne Lights were great, but SO crowded. And the rest of the time, Streets of America was such a waste of space. I loved it, but there was nothing there. I never understood why they didn't try to put a ride or stores/restaurants in that area once HS stopped being an actual studio.

Disney donated most of the lights and they're currently used at Give Kids the World "Night of a Million Lights" event.
