Marathon Weekend 2017!

Would someone going to the expo be willing to grab me a marathon hat and magnet? I won't get to the expo until Saturday and am worried they will be gone. I could send the money on PayPal

Got to the Expo around 2:00. Next to no lines for bin pickup and could walk right into official merchandise. All magnets still available. Dopey apparel was sparse.

Edit: Line to the Jostens Center portion of the Expo is stupid. I've got my bibs, magnets and race shirts and don't need that hassle!

Dangit I hope there are some dopey things left by the time I get there.

There may be more in the Jostens Center. I only looked at the merch in the bin pickup area. The good news is that Goofy/Dopey get their shirts in the bib area and don't have to brave the rest of the Expo unless they just want to.

Well im hoping the jostens line dies down. I'm finishing eating at Le Cellier than off to the expo.

Ah I see that now. I saw marathon and half was in the hp field house.. Didn't realize shirts were in other place.. That sucks

Agreed. All I really wanted was an I Did It shirt...but I didn't want it that badly!

Last year they had plenty of I Dit It shirts in the merch tent after the races. I dont think the I Did It's are as hot as the other items.

They didn't give us one at Wine & Dine either. I think it's new.

Speaking of "I Did It" shirts - did they print the wrong course map on the marathon shirts? I'm seeing that they used an old map on Facebook...

They didn't have them at wine n dine so wouldn't surprise me.. I think they handwrite them at the checkin if needed

I remember that when talking to someone at a Disneyland expo a couple of years back that apparently the hours are (or were) dictated by the pre expo crowd will be curious to see if they extend it earlier next year in response to today.

Is there something different about gear check this year? DW and I noticed that none of the bags had any stickers to attach in order to check gear. To make sure we were not missing something I looked at bags other people were getting and none had gear check stickers. This was for pickup for 5K and Half.

I would disagree the characters have medals around their necks and some of them are running.

I totally missed the medals around their necks! HA!! Cute style then. I won't be buying it, but I do like it.

And that line into the expo is INSANE!! Glad we aren't there today trying to get in but certainly is making me consider that Race Retreat package for Dopey next year. Which is, I'm sure, exactly the kind of thing runDisney wants to hear.

Bonus! I got two Goofy shirts in my Dopey bag!

As if DW doesn't think I have too many running shirts already, now I get to bring home 7 instead of the much more reasonable 6 from this trip!

Leaving now, I waited 20 minutes to get into the expo and maybe 20 minutes to get to the official rundisney area. I walked right up to get my bib, the worst was runner relations I waited over an hour to get my corral changed. It is definetly more calm now than when I got here at 1.

But they did change your corral, right? If they did, you'll probably get that hour back on the course!

Immediately after our great early expo experience, I was organizing in our room and realized they didn't give us the bag check stickers. I called runDisney and asked about this. First answer: "I can't help. You will have to go back to the expo to get the stickers." I explained I picked up my dopey stuff, my son's half stuff and another son's 5k stuff and there aren't any stickers at all, so has the process changed and could she please check. Second answer: "They don't hand out stickers at the expo anymore. They will take care of it at the race.". Glad I didn't take the first answer!

I would highly recommend that anyone going to the expo wait for a bit...

The line is why I skipped the expo. When we were there around 145, the line to get in the expo was around the field and back up to the beer stand. I wanted to check out the deals on shoes & gear from a few vendors, but didn't want it that badly.

The line ins extremely long to get into the main building. RD could really do a better job. Have shirt pickup be somewhere else for those that might not care to shop, or set up a big tent outside exclusively for RD merchandise. No reason to wait in a line this long to pick up race related stuff, nor have I waited this long at any other race I face ever ran.

Since the shirts for all the other races were available outside the expo, I feel bad the full & half people had to wait in that crazy line. Getting bibs was pretty easy and painless, even with a line outside the field house.
