Marathon Weekend 2017!

the wife and I have used the plans that are on the rundisney site and they have worked amazing ! I was not a runner and within 12 months i completed the dopey challenge this past january
Wow! That is inspiring! Thanks! I printed it out and will try!

I will be running the 1/2 marathon in 2017. We have ran the full the last three times (every other year) but age and beer has caught up with me. My BIL will be running the 1/2 and the full again. That is my bucket wish dream to do with my two children. Unfortunately, I have few years to wait for them to be able to commit the time and dedication. I too, have no set time. My only goal is to finish injury free to enjoy the remainder of our vacation. We arrive just one day prior to the 1/2 and will celebrate heavily after our success!! Good wishes and prayers to everyone that will running with us this year!

Why have I never thought of these rides as an option? Do you just go off course and ride? I'm intrigued and feel like I may need to accept this challenge.

Yes. It's a long way off course in DHS. Not so bad in Epcot. I think if you set your FP up right, it won't take too long.

I get that, but you're still finishing over those times,I always thought even if you didn't get swept you didn't get the challenge medal since your time was over the 16mm pace.

You do get your medals, but Disney has language in their race guide & on the web site that gives them the ability to not give them to you. They've never enforced that thus far, but they could always start doing so.

Pardon me if this is a repeat or just obvious question, but if I submit a POT from a race in the coming weeks, then am able to run another, faster 10K in September (there are very few races in summer that cover 10K distance), will I be able to send in that second POT? Is it best to just hold off submitting POT until closer to the cut off when I know which my fastest race has been, or am I better to have something in and then update that if I race a better time? Thanks in advance, everyone!

You can continue updating your PoT on your Active registration up until the PoT closing date! They overwrite each other when you hit submit, so the only one that is seen is the most recent one you submit!

1. Great username and
2. "Age and beer has caught up with me" made me LOL, so thanks for that. :)

Marathon Weekend Goals

Now that registration is out of the way for most of us, I'd love to hear your goals for Marathon Weekend. Here's how I see goals. They're personal. You chose it because that goal means something to you. It's important to you. Which means your goal is important to me. No goal is too big or too small. The person's goal to finish their first 5K and another's to take down Michael Wardian's Dopey World Record are equally important to me. So, I'd love to hear yours. And yes, even the super secret I don't want to admit it goals. :teeth:

Here are some ideas if you haven't thought about it:

Finish my first: 5K, 10K, Half, Full, Goofy, Dopey
Finish with a time goal
Run a race with a family member
Overcome an adversity in your life
Drink a beer or margarita at a certain mile marker
Participate in DATW (Drinking Around the World) *Happens on Monday in EPCOT (ask @FFigawi about it)
Beat a family member
Get as many character photos as possible
Get a character photo with a certain character
Do lots of park time and enjoy the races
Have fun

So, let's hear them! What's your goal?

That is a simple one to answer...my goal is to FINISH THE 1/2. I'm not shooting for the stars or thinking I can turn in 13 4 minute miles...I just want to finish.

Is the Race Retreat transferable? My sister accidentally purchased it when she registered for Goofy on her phone. She contacted RunDisney immediately after she noticed her mistake (maybe a few seconds after she hit apply payment) and whoever she spoke to said the money would be refunded in a couple of weeks. Now someone at RD is saying they will not reimburse her the money for it.
My question is is the Race Retreat transferable if she can't get her money back and someone else happens to be interested in buying it from her? Would she get a bracelet for the retreat or is it something special on the bib that allows her in to the retreat area?

Wow, I never thought about it before, but I guess the parks will be open when we are doing the full? All the halfs I have done the parks have still been closed. So if we have family & friends cheering us on at the full, I guess they can be in Epcot and then come and meet us at the finish. Any tips on a good place for them to watch us? I am guessing around the World Showcase.

Animal Kingdom POSSIBLY will be open (depending on what corral you start in)...Hollywood Studios and Epcot definitely will be. So yeah, World Showcase would be a goo bet, or near the Boardwalk Resort, or in Hollywood Studios.
