Marathon Weekend 2017!

Not just Disney, either. I've lost count of the times I've had half drunk cups of water or Powerade dumped down my leg by someone tossing a cup without looking! :crazy2:
You don't even have to be on the race course for this to happen. I had someone toss their drink on me at a resort because they weren't paying attention.

@DopeyBadger I asked my daughter if she read the "plan" you made for her and her response was "I don't really understand most of what he wrote but if you trust him, I trust you!" :) I had to go into it and just tell her what to run which weeks. I think it looked a lot less daunting to her than the plan she was on at this point. And now I am going to stop asking her about her running because she said "You are stressing me out even more than I already am!" :( Whatever will be will be, come marathon day, lol. Thanks again!

Yea sometimes (most of the time) I have a tendency to ramble on, so I can understand if someone doesn't get me. Let her know to feel free to ask any other questions if she has them and that I wish her the best of luck!

Yes, Happy Thanksgiving to all.

For those racing tomorrow... have a great run. Just a 11 mile run for me early in the morning to work up to a nice turkey dinner :)

Hi guys - I searched but it didn't look like anyone had asked. Does anyone know the last day to register with a travel agent? (Hoping there are some agents on here!) I figure it has to be soon, since they will need to start getting bibs together. Thanks!

Just finished prepping the turkey and getting it in the oven. Getting ready to head out on my run today. I have been thinking about the upcoming Marathon Weekend. I was hoping we could try again to do a meet up before the races. We tried this last year and it did not succeed, too many people and we need a definitive meet up location. I was thinking maybe just after the gear drop off areas. So not the security bag check, but the gear drop off. It is usually organized alphabetically and last year I noticed that there is some open space just past the last gear drop off section that could work. I do not remember exactly but the last section was like W-Z (I am guessing here).

Anyway, we could set a time to try to connect before we need to head to the corrals for a meet up and possibly a picture. If people are interested, let's decide on which race/s to do it and then set the time. Let me know your thoughts.

Happy Thanksgiving - at least for those who celebrate it!

A meet up would be fun. I have never done marathon weekend so I don't know if there's a better morning than others.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

Good idea, but I'd prefer something during the day, mostly because I get to the start later than recommended, but also because we'd have more time for socializing. And better light for pictures.

I second this suggestion. Race mornings are so early and frenetic as they are, trying to squeeze a meetup in would be tough. Also, a lot of folks get really stressed out right before a race. I'd rather meet people in a more relaxed environment.

I was planning on setting up a meeting prior to each race morning before corral release. I was going to bring a sign and provide a map of where we could meet race mornings with the list of dis'ers we'll put together. Also, was going to put together a meeting place post-race near the finishing line for the 5k and marathon. I can try to do a meet-up during the day, but it's tougher with family vacation obligations for me.

@Keels normally has a good sense of this stuff. :)

At this rate, I'll think you'll see TAs and RunDisney putting the hard sell on pushing these bibs right up through Christmas, if availability is still what it is. Though they may do a Goofy giveback-type thing with Dopey as a holidays sales push.

No TA has even mention a sale date yet, so that has me feeling like there are a LOT of bibs floating around out there.

Ditto. I don't get to bag drop before 5 a.m., so any pre-race meet-up is out for me.

I am usually fine and just excited, but I had a port o potty related panic before wine and dine (my cousin assures me I was just really funny). I waited 45 min and my line was barely moving. Finally realized there were no lines on the other side behind me?? So weird. Corrals had started 20 min prior and I just didn't get why no one was hurrying with fireworks going off! I sprinted to meet my cousin to change my socks (that were slipping down for some reason) and I was in a tizzy, swearing. To the two volunteers nearby hearing me - I am so sorry for my meltdown lol. I'm throwing socks around. Finally I sprint to the other potties and followed someone into a break in the fence thinking I was 3 corrals late. Turned out it was miraculously my corral! And at the front now no less. Big props to the people in corral I for being amazing and calming me down :) naturally though I tweaked my calf while sprinting and was about 10-15 min slower than planned pace overall. So it goes! So anyways, yes, I now realize how people can be in panic mode right before the race and you are not wrong about that!

Thank you @Keels and @Ariel484!!! One less thing to worry about over turkey today :)

Hi you guys!!! The day we need to pick-up our bibs for the Disney 5 k of January 5th we will be in MK.
What is the easiest and fastest way to go from MK to ESPN??

Thanks

I don't think there is a bus from MK to WWOS but someone correct me if I'm wrong. Best way would probably be to walk to Contemporary and catch the bus to the expo from there, unless you want to spring for a taxi. All the resorts should have buses running for marathon weekend. I'm guessing they will start running Wednesday. Somebody correct or confirm please.

@croach is right that there are no buses from the parks to ESPN, so I agree that bus from Contemporary or taxi is your best bet.
