Marathon Weekend 2016

I need to catch up reading the thread, but here's my update.
I'm in corral B like I thought!
I'm so tired from not a lot of sleep and then maybe too much time on my feet today.
Although our room wasn't ready when we were hoping, the hotel upgraded us to castle view. Not sure if it was an "I'm sorry" or that was all that was left. So we are about to watch the fireworks from our room! We gave up on some after dinner FP including mine train because this watching the castle from our bed thing was too enticing. Also we have beer and I'm waiting do tomorrow post race shower to indulge :)image.jpg

I would take the MK view anytime ::yes::

I'm probably in the minority, but I liked the orange. I would like all of the shirts to be neon. I think rD would get a lot of complaints if I was designing things.
I really like my neon orange goofy shirt from last year, the goofy is a little hard to make out but I prefer the neon orange to the darker red orange goofy had in other years.I agree with others that RunDisney needs to get a bit more creative in race shirt colors, way too many red, dark blue, black and royal blue shirts.I don't know how many agree with me but I really like long sleeve white dry fit shirts,I know Dopey had one in its inaugural year but its getting rare to see them go with white. If I was designing them I would go with similar designs for the shirts every year and one white one, like 3 of the 4 long sleeve shirts get neon colors and one is white with a neon design. The next year we go with softer lighter colors like the 2014 full baby blue or maybe a beige one and like I said before one of the shirts in white. The next year they can go and use their normal dark blue, red, royal blue.My point is change it up,people get tired of the same thing,I like the red one I'm getting for the full but I just got a red one for the half last year, give me some variety.

I'm hoping that's all that is left for me when I get there too. I gotta say, all you guys being down there is making me feel a little jealous. I am officially on vacation so now the excitement is starting to kick in I think. Seeing everyone's pics is helping. I JUST WANT TO BE THERE. END OF STORY!

Woot- made it from the mk tunnel to the cast bus to my car to WWoS parking to bib pickup in 31 minutes which gave me 14 min to grab the race shirt, grab the pin and license plate frame and take a pic of the Star Wars medals with 3 min to spare before expo closed. Bet that was my fastest pace in awhile cause my other option was either call late or call in to work to grab my bib..

Only Dopey and Half capris - I would've TOTALLY bought Marathon ones, too!

I ended up just getting the Dopey ones - I grabbed two sizes and when I brought the one I wasn't going to keep back to the rack, the spot was completely empty. Hopefully they printed more! I tried them on when I got home and I LOVE them. I'm heading back by tomorrow in hopes I can grab a half pair as well.

Wait. There were half capris?! I only saw the Dopey ones. Good thing I'm going back tomorrow anyway. Lol.

The good news is I got my missing bag of merchandise back and everything is there. I am so relieved, even if it did take almost 2 hours out of my day.

The last person in our group is finally arriving tonight, at some point, after an almost 2 hour flight delay.

QOTD:

Fri night: Via Napoli
Sat night: Sci-Fi

Both are late lunches. I know sci-fi is not a typical race meal, but my be loves it there and it was the only day I could fit it in. Lol!! Also, he would not help with the planning. So, oh well. LMAO

Happy you got your bag back.

Remember all those posts about weather weeks before marathon weekend, now's the time to get serious about looking at the forecasts. It's not looking that great for the half,it looks like its likely the half will get some rain at some point.I'm doing the full and I'm kind of stressing about when the rain chances will drop,Sunday looks pretty good but Saturday overnight has a front coming through, hopefully it clears by 5am,Monday looks amazing!!!

Good luck to everyone running this weekend! Whether you're doing one race, two, three, or all four, go out there and have fun, stop for lots of pictures, and thank all the volunteers you see. I'll be cheering you on from afar and look forward to hearing the stories at DATW on Monday.

Everyone have fun this morning. Wishing I was up there already but will be soon enough. Can't wait to hear how y'all enjoyed the 5K.

I am in the last corral. Annoyed! I have never been stuck there. Unfortunately, could not get a proof of time race in time. Accustomed to prior participation with team in training where we had more calendar time to meet deadlines.

Any tips???

Will use it as motivation to go go go once we can get going. But so discouraging.

If we do Disney again, I will remember to log proof of time sooner. (We plan to do the volunteer route the rest of this year and next year.)

There were half capris. Definitely check again. Check all the rows as the way they were set up, it seemed they had multiple rows of merchandise for each race but alternating---so the first row of half stuff wasn't the only row.

I just had to look this morning at to what prices the EBay'ers have listed the items from the expo already. WOW.

RunDisney needs to make all of the merchandise available at racer sign up. Not just a package or 2. This would make the Expo experience so much nicer for everyone except the EBay crowd. No more stressing about the merchandise for those that are unable to get to an event a day or 2 after the expo opens.

1. Don't feel discouraged. You made a mistake, and there's not much you can do about it now.
2. Accept the fact that the course is going to be very crowded and don't stress over it. Getting frustrated is only going to make you spend energy that would be better used to get you through the marathon. It'll also make you tense and that will lead to soreness and pain later in the race.
3. Don't weave all over the road from side to side trying to pass people. It wastes energy and can be dangerous to those around you. Instead, try to keep a straight line, and as you approach someone, tell them "on your left," as you step to the side, thank them as you pass by, and get back into your line.
4. Get to the corral early and go to the very front. It'll give you some clearer running room.
