Marathon Weekend 2016

Congrats all 5K finishers! Forgot how much I am not a fan of running a 5k hard. It seems harder to me than the longer distances. Anyway, fun race. World Showcase is really cool in the dark like that! 1 race down and 3 to go! Looking forward to the meet up tomorrow.

Did anyone who did the 5k sign up for runner tracking and not get any updates? It was a fun run but checking after the race and I never got any emails. Am concerned that maybe my bib didn't work and there is no record of me participating. Results are not up yet so I can't check there.

1. Don't feel discouraged. You made a mistake, and there's not much you can do about it now.
2. Accept the fact that the course is going to be very crowded and don't stress over it. Getting frustrated is only going to make you spend energy that would be better used to get you through the marathon. It'll also make you tense and that will lead to soreness and pain later in the race.
3. Don't weave all over the road from side to side trying to pass people. It wastes energy and can be dangerous to those around you. Instead, try to keep a straight line, and as you approach someone, tell them "on your left," as you step to the side, thank them as you pass by, and get back into your line.
4. Get to the corral early and go to the very front. It'll give you some clearer running room.
Been there done that. We do like to spend the first mile or two gently passing people. We did that for the Cocoa Beach half.

Definitely plan the front of the corral. I am just surprised to be stuck in the very last corral. I wonder if those doing Goofy or Dopey were automatically given precedence. No biggie. Just curious. When I did Goofy, I am not sure if I had proof of time. But I definitely was not the last corral.

Thanks for the tips.

I didn't even try. But I am not even sure their bibs had chips. I will check again when my runners return.

Under the runDisney policy that's been in place for almost two years now, anyone not submitting a proof of time is automatically put in the last corral. For marathon weekend, the web site clearly says:
  • Proof of time must be provided from an officially timed race reflecting results after January 1, 2014 and must be one of the below listed distances. Runners will be placed in the last corral if the appropriate race distance is not submitted for Proof of Time.

There are no trackings for the 5k. The mile marker signs have a time but there are no emails for the race.

1/10 - Low 63, High 73. Partly cloudy 10%
1/11 - Low 49, High 63. Partly cloudy 20%

This is likely my last detailed weather update because we are leaving early tomorrow morning and I am to lazy to type all of this in my phone. Based on this report, it looks like the half may avoid the showers and the rain could be out of here before the start of the marathon. I would also guess the 63 on Saturday will feel a bit different than the 63 on Sunday after the front moves through. Monday will be nice and chilly for everyone spending the day in the parks and/or DATW.

On the road to WDW from Walker, LA! Can't wait to get there! Congrats to all of the 5k finishers! Excited for my race on Sunday! Safe travels to everyone heading down today :)

Leaving from Baton Rouge tomorrow morning, but stopping in Gainesville Friday night, so we wont officially be there until Saturday morning. Hope you have a safe trip! You don't by chance run with the Varsity Sports group in Baton Rouge?

Had an awesome, awesome, awesome run this morning.

Just crushed a grilled cheese, took a nice warm shower and now I'm on the express train to Nap-Town.

Not a bad start to Dopey. Hopefully tomorrow will build off today for a killer start heading in to the weekend!!

Hope everyone else enjoyed the 5k as much as I did - even from back in Corral E!

It mentions that she will be speaking at the expo on Friday. Does anyone know if there is a schedule of who is speaking and when? I could not find anything in the official guide.
Still on the lookout for an expo speaker series schedule because I couldn't find any with my usual google sleuthing methods. Anyone have a copy?

Congrats 5K'ers! Hope everyone had a great run this morning :) So excited, it's my last day in the office and we head out for the airport in Detroit later this evening...flying out first thing in the morning!

I don't know about everyone else, but I find that I'm spending my day running to the bathroom...I swear I'm peeing every 15 minutes! I suppose that just means I've been pounding enough water and Gatorade, hydration shouldn't be a problem ;)

Safe travels to those leaving in the next day or so, and see y'all down there!

I think they had posted the speaker series on Twitter and maybe Facebook. Have you checked there?
