Marathon Weekend 2016

So read somewhere that the metal dectectors will be present at bag check/screening so I'd make sure to not wear/carry too much metal (wonder how that's gonna work with the mandatory safety pins on race bibs...) me thinks I'll aim for earlier cause entrance to the compound may be nut so...

Ugghh! That will be bad. The bag check lines can get congested even when it's just the security guards looking through spi Belts.

Random thought I would like to share with yall, or more like an opinion poll. With every new year my facebook feed is suddenly filled with gym comments, running, and crossfit. I think its great people are at least making an attempt, and I really do my best to support those individuals. Every now and then some of them keep with it and things work out great. I also used to think runners posted every single detail all the time, but I think crossfitters may top us runners. Obviously I'm guilty of the running thing because I am posting on a forum for running, but at least yall expect it... So who post more to social media about a workout, RUNNERS or CROSSFIT?

I vote crossfit.

If this is true then it has the potential to be a bad morning trying to get everyone into pre staging. Also all those that will want to get to EPCOT closer to the start time just could miss their corral start or the whole thing.

It's hard for me to tell. I probably have more running posts in aggregate in my feed, but I also know a lot more running people. Its hard for me to tell because I don't know the ratio of runs per crossfit workouts.

I think we should turn this into a math problem for Keels....

Speaking of math, how many of you do pace math while you run.... At every mile I like to re-estimate my finish time based on different paces. I find the math gives me something to do and I can tell how my body is holding up by how hard the math is.

Crossfit. And for some reason they are always Paleo too. I have mostly Disney things in my feed. That and recipes I will never make. Haha

I don't post my running too much on FB. I come here for that! Lol

With all of the new restrictions on costumes, poles, walking sticks and such....will they stop the guy that has been carrying the American Flag these past years???
I hope not, but I'm not sure they can make exceptions for some and not others!:(
They had a write up about him in Runners World a couple months back. I enjoyed reading it, knowing I have seen him the past few years.

Landed and currently on magical express!

Jealous and currently on the couch.

Question. Any thoughts on what they mean by layered costumes? I was planning on wearing a sport coat as part of my bing bong costume....I'm wearing it over a compression shirt so the jacket seems like the main layer. It's short so there's not really anywhere to hide anything.

they didn't provide much detail but I think they are trying to eliminate the more flowy type layered stuff I think if you have a shirt with a jacket over it you would be fine because what if it was just a running jacket over your running shirt ?

If they don't allow your Bing Bong costume, I will riot. The terrorists will have won.

To me it's really vague- as a girl my tank top is a 'layer' so are my shorts and I bet those are required 'layers'.. So would be a long sleeve either keeper or throwaway or a tutu (which are allowed)

To me i read 'layers' to be that more as non form fitting (robes) or non cloth (foam etc) as for the suit coat I could see it go either way depending on how they read the 'rules' but to me it's not a safety issue so I'd say it's a go...

I'd love to see someone show up in a thong or string bikini with the insistent that more would be 'layers'...

I volunteered next to him at space coast and kept pace for awhile at the half so a fan :) to me that'd be a reasonable inclusion with permission until everyone started carrying flags or non Appropriate ones and misbehaved with them..

Same with if firefighters wanted to run in full gear-

I've decided I'm just going to show up in my lab coat to the 5K (it was also going to keep me warm pre-race), and if it's not allowed Goodwill will end up with a used lab coat and my Honey Lemon costume will be less interesting. It's quasi-form-fitting if I button it up and only a tad longer than my running skirt. Experimentation seems appropriate for a lab coat!

Tell them if you take it off it won't be family friendly.

Gah... My leg has been playing up since Sunday. 45 min swim tonight instead of a run in attempt to soothe!

Walk, run or crawl, so excited!!!!

Weather Update 1/5/16 @ 7:40 AM CST

QOTD:

What is your preferred time of day to run and why?

Late to respond, but very long day! Last run, full work day and then packing...
My favorite time of day to run is in the morning, when I actually get out of bed. Well it is more like the time I hate to run the most is the 15 minutes between the alarm going off and my actually beginning a run. Once I am running in the morning air, I love it!

So we checked in. We were supposed to be club level at yacht club. They switched us to the beach club yesterday. They forgot to add our club level to that tho so we got a room on the first floor looking over the lagoon. And for Inconvenience of them forgetting our club level service they gave a $100 credit!
