I had my POT race today. I ended up running it despite the foot injury. I just had to, it would have bothered me to miss it. The first 4 miles were painful but once my body warmed up the pain wasn't too bad. The course was VERY hilly. I would say it was 10 miles of hills and 3.1 of flat roads. So it slowed me down big time. I didn't improve my corral placement, which bums me out, but I am still glad I ran the race.
I got home and took off my shoes and socks and my foot is black and blue. So, I guess it is time to shut it down for a bit to try and finally fix my foot. It will mean I miss my October marathon, which bothers me a lot, but I can't imagine what kind of shape I would be in if I had run a full marathon today. And it is more important that I run Disney in January than this race in October so I just have to deal with it. My official time was 2:06:03. Considering the hilly course and a foot injury I didn't do to badly. But I will end up using my ToT race time as my POT.
For those of you that are US History buffs I am attaching a picture from the finish line. The race was in Plymouth, MA so that should be a clue.
