I've been reluctant to post, mostly because I am reluctant to be back in the "real world." LOL.
Being a veteran
Disneyland RunDisney runner, I didn't think running down Main Street and seeing the castle would be a big deal for me. Boy, was I wrong. I teared up as soon as I saw that fog-covered, most beautiful Christmas-lit thing I've ever seen. Both when I first saw it and when going under the snow that Elsa was throwing off the back (NICE TOUCH DISNEY).
But overall, I much prefer running in Disneyland. Yes, our parks are smaller and the time actually in the park is limited (not to mention I think the races are more expensive). But at least we get entertainment on the streets of Anaheim. The run for me between parks was soooooo boring. It was shocking to me. The uneven streets definitely had an impact as I was still feeling it in my quads through Monday! So all-in-all, if you have never done a run in California, I really think you should give us a shot.

And give me a jingle if you do!
I did improve my half time by 4 minutes, but it really didn't feel like a success to me. This race was hard for me. I didn't anticipate the inclines being so difficult for me, especially at the end leading into Epcot. Seriously? Mile 12 Disney? Was that a freeway on-ramp or something? Either way, it "stole" another 2 minutes off my time since I had to walk the whole thing in that section. I really need to get better and don't know where to start, so I guess that is coloring my view about being happy about the 4 minute improvement.
My bf did his first full marathon on this weekend, and by mile 18 he was ready to call an uber.

Like a lot of you, he made it to EE just before opening and decided to hang out and ride it and he was really glad he did. But after that, he felt like there was nothing to look forward to on the run. Marathon running is definitely not for everyone.
Like everyone else, I am sad to see this thread close. Has anyone thought of making a general running thread that we could all join? Or is there one? Or a "Veterans of 2016 WDW Marathon Weekend" lol. I've loved all of the advice and camaraderie. Who knew running had all of this too?
