Marathon Weekend 2016

@SunDial & I are at France during DATW so far. If anyone wants to join us, we will be at Morocco in 30 minutes if anyone wants to join us.

I am at my desk in Chicago and it's single digits outside. I would like to recommend the gray goose orange slush in France as it was so pleasant on Saturday! But it is kind of big and I was feeling kind of "all right" afterwards. ENJOY!

I know, the wife and I flew home yesterday and when we got off the plane in Indy she looked at me and asked if we could get back on and fly back to Orlando.

My kiddo fell asleep on the drive home from the airport and we put her right in bed. We thought she was half awake but this morning she asked why we were not at the hotel and then when I was getting her dressed she said "today we should meet Merida." Poor thing was very confused.
We are probably waiting three full years before our next trip. Possibility one of these days I'll go to DL or somewhere for a half marathon or something with my husband on a very short trip...but the next big family vacation will require no stroller. We should have enough money saved up by then too :)
Or I could get the powerball and then move there. haha

Here I am. The non trained one... But somehow I did it!!! I finished my Goofy!!!

My plan to jog mile 1 of the half and walk the rest went out the window as when I hit mile 1 I was feeling pretty good... So I jogged 2. Then 3. And jogged the first half, and jog/walked the rest....

I DEFINITEY paid for it yesterday though! Mile 1 was a struggle to jog, and 2-13 were so rough! By the time I rode Everest i could barely stand back up again! By mile 14 I decided to just try to walk the rest of it. I HATED that world of sports seemed to never end. But getting to Epcot was amazing, with all of the random Guests who were just supporting even though they were just there to be on vacation. I came in with a 7:15 but I don't care. I'm proud that I finished. And that's enough for me!

Congrats to everyone that ran any or all of the races!

My Half was great, ran with Dopey friend the whole race and we kept each other in check from running to fast. Plenty of stops for characters. I carried my own camera, and that did not go so well. So much moisture in the air, many of the shots had plenty of water dots.

Marathon was great as well, once I pulled the plug on caring about time for the race. That was around mile 5 where I was already more soaked then I was at the end of the half. Stopped at as many characters stops as I could, almost all of them. I might be getting the marathon photo package. Coming out of WWOS, I saw my Dopey friend with his wife (her 1st and last marathon) about to enter the area, and gave them a big yell.

4th year in a row for my M&M McFlurry stop at mile 15. This time I also bought a Coke. Both were VERY REFRESHING! Was once again greeted by the State Trooper at the traffic light. She got out of her Patrol car and shouted with a big smile...."They ran out of McFlurry" On the way back to the race I told her I'll see her next year.

Congratulations to all.

Just wondering was the trooper suppose to pick you up or something? My running group is saying that people were taken off the course for running out side of the cones by the Contempo bridge. Just wondering if there was an ounce of truth to that since you said a trooper said something about your McFlurry stop.

I can't comment on that location, but I was viewing the marathon right before mile 5 and a few people were running across the street to give things or get things from their spectator friends/family since we had to be on the side of the road opposite of the running lane. There was a traffic cop there and he was warning several people (non-runners included) to be careful crossing streets where the other lane had vehicles. But he was just stopping them to tell them that...they would continue on running. And it was only a handful. It was kind of dangerous that area before going past the MK bus stops because they did have hotel traffic going down that street.
Unrelated but related, I saw at least one person totally biff it tripping over the median and falling down and scraping their knee. She got back up and the whole crowd of us cheered for her like she was an NFL player returning to play. It was pretty awesome but I bet it hurt once the adrenaline wore off.

Congrats on our finish!! As I was going past the McDonald's I thought about you and your tradition. One year when I have plenty of time in the bank I would like to join you.
