Marathon Weekend 2016

It's a discussion point for the board
its always nice to have something to discuss even if that something can change between now and then

Guess nothing changed on the costume front with RunDisney. Their website is the same wording.
and

yeah they also sent out a race info email today with the same wording wich I'm guessing they wouldn't have done if they were planning on changing anything, I imagine they might be more strict with the guidelines that are in place but I don't think they plan on saying no more costumes

I have a weird question. Disney gives out the finisher medal to people who don't finish but will not give out challenge medals to people who don't finish. How does that happen? How do the people who don't finish get their medals?

This is one of those topics that will always be a hotbed when it comes to running, I think RunDisney is the only company that I know of that still gives you a medal if you get swept but I could be wrong, Personally I wouldn't want a medal of a race I didn't complete but that's just me personally, I don't begrudge someone if they feel like they earned it even if they didn't finish because in running the race is really just the victory lap of completing training.

Thank you for the responses. I know I have been in other races were people who ran the race went back to run in friends/family with no issues. These were fairly big races like RnRs, but I know Disney is different and is far more strict on things. I doubt that this will work out logistically, but it's just something we were thinking about.

I know a lot of other races its fairly easy to do this, I did it at Hot Chocolate last year but ducked out just before crossing the actual finish again. But I think with Disney its a little harder, he may be able to pull it off if he goes to the boardwalk area and keeps his bib on but I fear they may have more security in place this year just because everything that's going on and I don't know what kind of repercussions you might face if caught

I saw pictures of someone running as Bing Bong with a wagon from Inside Out, pretty sure it was at the Osborne Lights, so don't think anyone stopped this person. But that does seem like a major hazard to let slip through.

Shocked by this - maybe she just confused the workers so much they didn't know what else to do and let it go due to the half-half-yness of the whole night.

I don't know if this makes me a bad Disney fan, but I had to google "Bing Bong from Inside Out" because I have never heard of it. If I see it this year, now I will know! Is the film worth watching?

Loved it. I would think especially if you have kids or experience with kids in their tween/teen years. :)

EDIT: My ticker that is way off is truly bugging me. 13 days, MickeyPath, 13 days.

It is certainly worth watching. Saw it with the family and was really surprised by how much i enjoyed it.

Adding to the chorus, yes, it's definitely worth seeing. Even watching it on a plane with an iPad-sized screen, I loved it. Pixar never makes a bad movie. Some are better than others, but they've all been enjoyable. Kind of like Nick Park and his claymation team. All their movies are very funny and great entertainment.

Well it seems like I have a movie to add to my list. Still trying to get over this cold which has prevented me from running since Saturday. I feel alright in the morning, but by the time I get home I feel like death. The good news is last night DW came home from NOLA and brought home KING CAKE!!!! She also stopped at the grocery on the way home and got some Blue Bell ice cream, which finally hit the shelves for the first time in many many months. Carb loading right?.?.? Any who, I am hoping to get at least 3-5 miles in this afternoon. Thanks for the feedback on the movie.

Are you including transit time, time for pictures in front of the banners and stuff at the expo and are you taking the buss or driving. I think 30-45 minutes is a reasonable estimate to get your packets and shirts. The long lines are for disney merchandise, getting kinisio taped, and for the new balance stuff (although you might have to do virtual queue for that booth). In the past there have been runDisney race sign ups and that has been crowded too. Depending on how many of the long line things you want to do I would budget 1-3 hours. Parking is a pain so if you drive it can take a while to get from the parking lot to the buildings. If you take a bus you'll spend time waiting for buses so you'll likely need to add that too.

Can anybody tell me when the virtual queue for the New Balance shoes usually opens up? Is it a day or so prior to the Expo? Any help is appreciated.

Got another email from rundisney today is one saying waivers are online and expo hours. It also had a section saying photography is ok but absolutely no selfie sticks.

My TimeHop app says 1 year ago today was the Star Wars merch preview! So yeah, a little late. :)
