Another week gone.... and another week closer to starting and finishing the marathon. It's just coming up so fast I can't believe it.

I can only spend a second starting this post this morning because I have some things I need to finish this morning before I go to church at 9, but I did want to start this thread so everyone had a new place to post this weeks accomplishments.

Did everyone see the links to the Grand Gatherings info I posted in last weeks thread? If not, it's on the last page- second from the bottom. It'll give you a clearer idea of what to expect. It also explains other events that could be planned in case we are unable to book the Wishes FIreworks Cruise. Please let me know what you think.

I'm supposed to walk 6 miles today- I'm a little scared because it's been a month since I walked this far, but I know that I ma capable of walking it. So.... I guess it's not as scarey as the first time I did it! I'll come back nad post when I am done!

Have a great week everyone!

Gosh - Karen said she posted really early today and it's evening here - well almost bedtime by my standards even, so that must mean we have all been really busy today - exercising and enjoying the weekend I hope.

Well, I am happy to report that Molli and I did our 7 miles in 1:45 - a 3 hour pace for the real thing, so I/we were pretty happy about that! Her DNeighbor (speedy gonzalez) brought herself a speedy friend and they were a bit ahead of us at times - but NEVER out of our sight, so I thought all in all, we did "good". I liked having walking partners - it does help to keep the pace and a bit of conversation was nice too!

Today I spend helping DH stain our privacy fence - you know one of those jobs that you think will only take a "little bit" and 6 hours later we were done - at least it looks good and it is DONE!! It was harder on my knee that walking yesterday ::yes::

I read through all your posts from last week and I say "HOORAY" to everyone of you - excellant work - new clippies, reduced times, and added mileage - we are an AWESOME group - aren't we!!!!!

My plan for this week is to basically continue my routine - but DH and I plan to go to a yoga class, too. We have gone before, a new teacher this time, but it is held in a church, no charge, so we go when we can - I would encourage anyone who has thought about yoga, even just get a tape from the library and just learn some basic stuff. I don't want to sound weird (oHmom is going oh-no what is she going to say :teeth: ) but like, when I am walking up a hill - I just think "yoga" style thinking - my leg is lighter and feels free, then I think that for the other, back and forth and then I get a bit of momentum and then I am up that hill ::yes:: I know Molli does yoga (much more than I do actually) so she probably can even give you the name of a good tape. Anyway just a thought for those of you who seem to have a bit of doubt - it is a good way for some positive thinking while you are actually walking too. Oh gosh, I didn't really mean to get on that tangent - but it's all typed in -so it stays ;)

Karen - I am all for meeting whenever we can, my personal TA (the best daughter one can find, and an excellant WDW researcher) would have to let you know when I am available. She is still trying to see just how many restaurants we can "squeeze" into our trip, so if there is one involved it just might happen for us, :teeth: I liked the sound of resting by the pool with an adult beverage in hand - sounds like a reward for all this hard work to me ::yes:: Uh - oh that reminds me that I will need a new swim suit tho - yuk - hate shopping for one of those.

Have a good week everyone - I continue to think of each of you and I, like others, can't wait to meet in January!

everyone must have been very busy yesterday :)

karen -- I didn't finish reading last weeks thread - i will go back and read the info on the GG, thanks for mentioning it

I got up early (for me) this a.m. and did my intervals for 60 mins - i powerwalk 8 mins, jogged 4 -- not sure how far probably 4.5 - 5 miles I guess? i just went for time this morning. finished off with 10 mins yoga

i was eating well this weekend until we went to my brother's sat night for dinner and then to a Cinci Reds ballgame. He really went all out for us and grilled us very yummy foods, but he's not as WW conscious as mom and I are together ;) anyhow -- I did forego a snack at the ballgame, I was just tooooo stuffed; but had trouble getting totally into my WW mojo yesterday. Today i'm back OP full swing and ready for a visit from that WF!

Karen how did the 6 miler go???

anxious to hear updates from everyone!:teeth:

Good morning everyone!

I'm back in MD after being in FL for 10 days...survived Frances in the hotel - unable to leave the unit for almost 3 days (YUCK!! Making me think about whether or not I really want to move down to Orlando).

Didn't do any major walking while down there (except at the parks - AK, and MK (3 days for NOJ). Weighed myself this am and only gained 1 pound (which is wonderful based on all I ate :D ).

Planning to go back to last weeks thread to catch up on my reading. Hope all is well with you guys.

Goiod MOnday to all:wave2:

It's been a beautiful day in PA and I just finished a 3 mile walk. Yesterday I managed a 2mile with dm. My goal this week is to hit at least 15 miles.

Welcome home MOnica! sorry to hear you were there with Frances and stuck in the hotel. Did they provide anything to you?

Good job Ohmom on the 5 miler and the bbq sounds like a great time:tongue:

AEG congrats on your 7 miler:Pinkbounc It is so much more motivating to have those walking buddies. I took yoga once, I liked it but didn't love it. If I had more time I surely would do it but I have to choose cardio due to my hip size;)

Karen did you get in a 6 miler? I checked out the links you gave and love all the GGs. I'll do any one you want:) Did you get a chance to call?

Karen -- congrats on the new clippie!!!!! you soo totally :rockband:

ok - here are my .02 on the GG -- I did find this schedule among the posts on the thread karen linked us to from last weeks' thread
The Wishes cruise is offered on Saturday and Monday. The time is anywhere from 5:45-8:45-depending on when Wishes is scheduled.

The Illuminations Dinner is offered on Monday and Friday. The start time is 7:30pm.

The Safari is offered on Thursday and Sunday. The start time is anywhere from 4:00-6:15-depending on what time the park closes.

The breakfast is offered on Tuesday and Saturday at 9:30 am only.

to me the GG look to have a lot of character interaction, which sounds fabulous but may not be what my group of 4 adults will be looking for. my first initial thoughts would be to pass on these events, hope that doesn't offend you Karen I really appreciate your researching and willingness to plan a mini-meet.

keep me posted on the group as a whole and your decision, depending on which one you decide than our group of 4 will make our decision. I just don't want you to wait for my preference on choosing one, you pick and then we'll decide. i hope i don't sound snooty?!

Would anyone be interested in Fantasmic Dinner package? i haven't done one but was considering booking one for this trip - dinner at Mama Rosas.

Hey everybody! Ashley is back on the marathon bandwagon again, for real this time! I did 65 minutes on the TM today, logging 4.2 miles. A little slow from my pace before, but I was sick all last week and haven't set foot in my runnin shoes for almost a month! It has been a ROTTEN month for life, too much going on! I'm getting back in the routine of it, though, thank goodness!

It sounds like everybody is doing really well! I'm so excited to meet everybody, you are such an awesome group!

I'm very curious about this Grand Gathering stuff, so I'm going to go look at that. I am curious, though, does any of this apply to DVCers who are not in the blocked rooms? Do we get to have any fun?!

PLEASE consider a Jellyrolls night! I need as many of those as I can get since it is honestly my favorite place in the WHOLE WORLD! I'd love to have ya'll there with me!

I did get in a 45 min. walk/run today. 2.11. miles. I felt like I was pulling a sled full of rocks. I just couldn't get up any speed and was winded often. I did not walk at all this weekend and am hoping that it is only a temp. set back. DD turned 17 today. DH turns 47 on Thurs. He is giving up smoking for his birthday. I am so happy but he will be miserable for a while. We are going to dinner tomorrow night. The rest of the week is pretty quiet. Friday night I am having a spaghettti feed for 20 soccer players. Had a good time at the Craft fair this weekend and lots of laughs with my sisters. Already planning for next year.

Glad to hear all are putting on the miles. I need to up the mileage this week so that I am ready for the 10 k in 2 weeks. The end of this 10K is uphill for 4 blocks. It should kill me. I was just hoping to do flat land for 6miles. We'll just have to see what I'm made of.

Way to go everyone !!!

Just to let Beckie, Lily, Debbie and Susan know that I got your surprise today into the mail today. Sorry, I think my surprise maker had been on strike (well she has been making stuff for a show she is doing) but FINALLY they are in the mail.

Offer still stands for anyone who I have missed - send me your wrist size, name and address and I will get one to you too.

Hooray - when you wear yours - remember there is a whole lot of us getting ready for a big day in January :teeth:

no exercising for me today - it was too tough to get up and get moving as I knew that I would not get home after work tonight until 9ish and I was right. But I plan to be up and at em early tomorrow - I taped the Oprah show to watch and I heard that it was fantastic so that will be my enticement to get up to see it!

Good Monday Evening Everyone,

I got two short walks in today. Around 15 minutes after work and then a very quick 10 minute one before my meeting. Tomorrow night I have a BBQ at my DS school and then a church meeting at 7. I'm hoping to get my 30 minute stroll in over lunch. It's tough getting the time in when I have meetings at night.

I've heard mixed reviews about the WISHES cruise. Some people say that they can't hear the music aboard the boat and that that is half the show. The other thing I was thinking is what if it's cold that night. We may not want to be out on the water the night before the Marathon if the temperature is cool.

Have a super day tomorrow!!

Mom- I'd do a Fantasmic Dinner thing in place of the cruise if you want. I really don't care what we do- I'd just really like the group of us to get together for one evening. The GG events were just a way to accomplish that. The Fantasmicc Dinner thign would do the same thing. No offense taken at all! I'd love to be able to just sit and talk with everyone. Maybe we should just gather at a pool???

What would everyone else like to do?

I did get my 6 miles done Today- not yesterday! But I did get it done! It took 1 hour 52 mins. Not too bad- but I still have to improve my time loads! I think that because my calorie intake is so low right now (800 cals/day) I ma lacking energy when it comes to these long walks I have to do. BUT if I keep losing weight the way I have the last 2 weeks, by the time I have to stop- by Mid November- and I can start increasing calorie intake, my energy will come back and I should increase my time fast because I'll have lost lots more weight by then. Does that make sense to anyone??

Grammy- I saw Oprah today- it WAS good! ;)

Decaff- don't get discouraged. Just keep plugging along. You'd be surprised how things can change from day to day. Good luck on the spaghetti dinner. I use to do that for about 40 football players - only for BREAKFAST!! It was a lot of wokr- but so much fun!!! 4 blocks UPHILL would kill anyone!

Ashley- WElcome back. Sounds to me like you hardly missed a beat! We missed you.

MeMe- Sounds like you had a very productive weekend, and are planning a big week of walking! Good luck!

monica- 3 days in a hotel room sounds like fun to me!!!
 And you only gained 1 lb! That sounds like SUCCESS to me!! Welcome home!!

Karen,

I too am losing weight while training and I discovered two weeks ago that I must eat after my long walks. I read somewhere that after that kind of workout a person needs 75g of carbohydrate within 30 to 60 minutes of finishing. Ever since I started having some whole wheat pasta after my walk I'm not so exhausted and hardly sore at all. What the article said is that your muscles need the carbs and if they don't get them then they start to break down which is why you hurt the next day. Can't say if this is true or not but it has worked for me.

My pedometer also tells me how many calories I've used so I don't feel guilty about eating the extra carbs. I still have a long way to go in my weight loss so this is the way it's going to be until well after the marathon so I have to figure out what's going to work the best for me on that day.

I like the idea of getting together around a pool; or what about the carbo loading meal the day before. I heard that it runs all day long.

Just a thought.

I did a short walk on Sunday and I plan to walk for at least 45 minutes today while the kids are at school. I've been doing okay with my eating. Not great, but okay.

The kids are beginning to adjust to school. Spencer seems a little overwhelmed by all of the changes, so I'll have to keep an eye on that. I was having major second thoughts about putting him in the integrated class this weekend. Every time I would ask him how he liked school he would very sadly say "not so well." Every time I asked him if he talked to the other children he would say "not so much". Well, yesterday morning we went to a playdate and he had a blast. He ran, rode scooters, laughed, snacked... On the walk home I said "that was fun, didn't you have a good time?" He looked at me with sad little eyes and said"not so well". I think my lovely little boy has been playing me like a violin  .

I also wanted to say that any activity is fine with us. The wishes cruise, an Iluminations cruise on friday night, a pool-side get together, a sign making party, dinner at a resort restaurant, carb-loading (at either wide world of sports or another place), drinks earlier on friday (the other meet may be scheduled at 10pm friday...too late for our little ones). For us, really anywhere except the parks for fri, sat, sun, and anywhere, including the parks for 1/10-1/13.

Thanks everyone for posting your progress.
Sorry this is so lame for a post. I will try to do better.
I've been doing ok, just need to press a bit more.

I did a big walk of 72 minutes yesterday (well, big for me anyway). While I am glad to say I did it, I am not smiling as my new shoes caused me small blisters. Go figure, these shoes are exactly what I have been using--only new--with the orthotic inserts and all. I don't remember my other shoes doing this during breakin period. I am wearing the same socks and everything. I will be checking at the running store for more info on this; I just don't have the time right now.

Tonight after work I take DH to PT and again the weather is beatiful so I will walk. I've been also doing the 20 minute windsor Pilates to help me strengthen some.

More later...

Keep on keepin' on

Hi all :wave2:

Today was a rest day for me, I exercised 6 days in a row and felt a little slow yesterday so I'm listening to this old body of mine;) and slowing down.

Congrats to all of you who managed to get that training in:Pinkbounc

Who's having the spag dinner? how many players? are you crazy:crazy: Decaff you sound like an amazing woman, it'll be my pleasure to meet you:)

Karen, I'm up for any type of mini-meet. whatever it is, I think we need to plan soon. What is the temp in January? Kami's 10 pm meet will be too late for me. I'd love to hit jellyrolls one nite but depends on ds situation.

Ashley welcome back! will you be updating the spreadsheet?

See you tomorrow:wave2:

I joined a curves like club today that has oliptical bikes. That is a real workout. I worked on the machines for 30 min and then the bikes for 20. I needed to get it done because we are going out for birthday dinners tonight for hubby and daughter. Felling better today with this workout. Mixing it up a bit helps with the boredom of the same roads and distances.

Yep! 20 soccer girls for a carbo loading spaghetti feed. In 10 days I will have another for 40 girls (both teams) . It is an easy meal and they are only here about an hour.

Hope everyone has a great day!!/evening!!

:hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:
I did it! I have officially registered for a room. I feel all excited and my palms are sweaty when I think about it.

Is there a place we are supposed to let someone know about this? I admit I am too lazy to seek out this info. Anyway, DH and I will be staying at BW. Now I still need to book a flight, but I will get to that.

And, I did 2 + miles while DH was at PT. I did it in 65 minutes so I don't think it is too bad. I just put a strip of tape across my heels and that seemed to ease the discomfort.

Are we planning on meeting up while at the official events too? I am hoping to see everyone at those as well.

I look forward to meeting up and hope we can all work out something.

Keep on keepin' on.

Alright everybody! Two days on the bandwagon and I'm still here! Today was a 40 minute cross train day, so I swam laps for FORTY minutes. That is a long time to swim back and forth, but I did it without even taking a break! It just feels so good to be back in a routine. I also like the feeling of "gettin' skinny." *sigh* we'll see...

Anyway, THE ROSTER! Here's the information I need from anybody who has not sent me their information!

Krista, if you still post here, I still need your email address.

Would anybody be itnerested in setting up some WISHWalker exchanges? We could do things like motivational/inspirational stuff, mix cds, even just letter writing type things. We could have a type of WISH Secret Sister or soemthing? I don't know... I just think it sounds fun. I am all geared up and ready to be a motivating force on this TEAM again!

Let me know what your interests are...

Karen - You are doing an awesome job with all this planning. WISHES cruise sounds nice, but I don't know if we would be able to do it since we will have some non WISH, non family members with us (I just found out!). I can set up a JR meet for Sunday and Monday nights, since that will probably be where I will be found after my post-race nap! (THEY OPEN AT 7!!!) What about the Illuminations deal where you get reserved seating and they have the dessert buffet, but it is not the cruise. That would allow us to have extra people in tow, maybe?? Poolside is nice, I will be at OKW if people want to come pool hop over there. There are so many wonderful things that we could do, and that is precisely why i LOVE it in the WORLD! Anybody for Off Kilter and American Vybe one afternoon? What about a huge table at Whispering Canyon Cafe? Oh no...the hamster's are spinning that wheel in my head.

Hopefully they'll keep spinning, because I have to go write lesson plans! Anybody know of a good book to teach 4th graders "fairness?" Let me know!

Keep it up, you rockin' crew!
