A new week- a new thread! It looks to me just by the sheer number of posts we had on last weeks thread that we were all able to keep our commitment that we made last week. WE ARE ALL SO WONDERFUL AREN"T WE!?!??!? I was very impressed with what we all accomplished in that short week.

So- this week I was thinking about what my new commitmenet would be- I have committed to Grammy's new focus on diet this week, but I have one more thing I want to do and wanted to see if anyone else was interested. I think what I want to do is go the extra mile. Now- I'm not talking a literal extra mile- but just go a little further then what id required of me. So- I'm gonna walk for 5 minutes further then I am supposed to walk. If I have a 1 mile day assigned- I'm gonna walk 1 mile plus an extra five minutes (however many miles that is). Anyone interested in going the extra mile with me?

I will post the new schedule as soon as I get it.

HAPPY MONDAY ALL!!!!

morning!!!

great suggestion Karen. I'll commit to it. Of course, my extra walk will be between Splash and Big Thunder!! :Pinkbounc

Have a wonderful week everyone, and I'll "see" you when I get back.

Colleen:earboy2:

My committment this week is to stay completely OP for the next six days. I also commit to walking at least thirty minutes three times this week.

I really let life get in the way of taking care of myself (threw my mom a surprise 60th party, celebrated my anniversary, and my children finished up their first year of preschool...lots of meetings to determine therapy schedules). I have to really embrace the fact that I won't be able to do my best for my family if I'm not healthy.

g morning :)

raining here so I didn't get in my last run before picking up my new orthotics this moring. i'll have to forego adding extra mins to my walk/runs this week as I'm taking a few steps back this week in the training aspect. Foot doc said to ease up and when i can walk two miles with my orthotics trouble free I may resume the training regimen. So - this week instead I will commit to being very conscious of getting in enough cardio, etc; which will probably be at the Y on my bike too. Not getting a good start today, but i'll make up for it later.

AND, this is a big one, AND ----- I'm definately onboard with the 'take off those last darn pounds' campaign!!!

hugs to all

Wow!! A new week for us!! How many weeks until we go? Anyone know?

I walked 23 minutes this morning. Not a long walk,b ut I got up late and at least I did get out there!! OH and we had some excitement yesterday. We have huge old oak trees (100+ years) in our yard and yesterday we had a little mini tornado or something and one of the trees fell across our street, and then we lost huge limbs out of some of the others. Spent all afternoon with 3 firetrucks, :firefight :firefight :firefight a back hoe, our mayor and two state troopers out front! (The joys of being in a small town...we'll probably be the front page story in the newspaper this week!) The girls wanted to set up a lemonade stand, The tree is off the road, but there is so much debris in the yard we look like we went through a huricane!! Fortunately no one was hurt and our house wasn't damaged. It could have been really bad!!:scared1:

Karen, I'm with you on the challenge. Good idea. :sunny:

Colleen!! PLEASE TAKE ME WITH YOU!!lol. I'm needing a Disney fix so bad!! Have a magical trip and a magical birthday while you are there!! :wave2:

CarolA- Sounds like your jog time is great!! I see by your countdown that you will be in WDW this week!! I know you will have a blast!! :mickeybar

tw1nsmom- I read about your party over on the community board, but didn't post. (I'm mainly a lurker there) The party sounded wonderful and you did a great job!! Congrats on making such a special day for your mom. Good for you for taking time for yourself. We all need to do that!! princess:

ohMom- te orthotics you sent me worked great this AM. I'll try them out more thoroughly tomorrow!! Thanks!! Good luck with your new orthotics you are getting!! :wave2:

Good am girls:wave:

I missed all of last week as I was down the shore and then had lasik surgery. Both events were fantastic:D I can see without contacts/glasses and for me this is a huge deal. I was the little kid with glasses in first grade and not regular galsses, reallyyyyy thick ones. So I must say I am veryyyy happpy:D I'm not to so strenuous activity for a week so I won't be jogging but I will take the "extra" challenge.

for my days at the shore I forgot my will power :( and gained a pound and only walked once.

So this week I pledge to walk and stay op.

Did everyone make their ressies? which resort?

Sorry to hear Beth about your tree, just happy you & family are safe:)

Need to go check last week's board and see what I missed.

:wave2:

Hi all!! :wave2:

Can I join??? I'm finally ready to get it in gear and start seriously training and eating OP. I'm doing week 1 of the half marathon training program on Hal Higdon's site, but I'll take the challenge to "walk the extra mile" and do a little above and beyond what's called for.

I'm booked at the Caribbean Beach for Thurs. - Mon. of half marathon weekend.

I think we have 28 weeks until the half!!!

Ok - fro anyone interested-

I got the training schedule for the next 3 weeks. Here we go-

Starting JUNE
28- (today) -rest day
29- i mile
30- 3 miles ( here's one new change)

JULY-
1-1 mile
2- 2 mile
3- rest
4- 5 miles
6- rest
7- 3 mile
8-1 mile
9- 3 mile
10- rest
11- 6 miles (I'm not sure if I'm gonna be able to do this one!)
12- rest
13- 1 mile
14- 2 mile
15- 1 mile
16- 2 mile
17- rest

and that is all for now. I have a vacation from July 7-15 I'm really hoping to get that walking in while there, but for right this very minute- 6 miles seems almost impossible for me to do. BUT- I WILL TRY!

Good week for me to say "yes" to that little something extra! Just finished my healthy lunch ::yes:: - okay I know it's only Monday at noon - but sometimes Monday are the hardest for me when I say that I am recommitting (a mental thing, I'm sure) but anyway so far so good!

Glad to know that there are some others joining me in their own recommittment too - just seems to make it easier knowing that I'm not going it "alone" !

My extra will be that I am setting my alarm 15 minutes earlier so I have time to add just a "bit more" :hyper:

Everyone is doing so well - cyber high five to all - I did walk 3 miles on the tm this AM and plan to Curves tonight.

Keep up the good work !

well trola -- your orthotics were certainly more affordable than mine! jeesh!!

picked up my new custom-fit orthotics and WOWSERS!! it feels like I have golf balls under my arches! that is probably the only part that is uncomfortable so far. I stopped at Meijer and shopped 40mins or so, and the walking wasn't too awful but I'm definately feeling them in there.

after I picked them up I went to the shoe store my foot dr said i MUST go to and get fitted. Well $101 later I have a new pair of New Balance shoes. OHMYGOSH i have NEVER EVER spent a hundred buckaroos on a pair of shoes!!! you guys heed my warning -- WEAR GOOD SUPPORTIVE SHOES NOW BEFORE YOUR FEET COMPLAIN TO YOU

these shoes are the NB 842 if anyone is interested. they are walking shoes but she assured me I could run in them. they have some kind of supportive bar in them and are wider. I actually needed an extra-wide to accomodate the middle-age spread of my metatarsal bones:rolleyes: he he he I crack myself up ;)

Doreen -- welcome and glad you are joining us!!!

BTW -- is Melanie ok? i haven't seen or heard from her in a long time i'm worried:confused:

meme- we are staying at CBR jan 8 - 11 (me, AEG, and evansmom)

off to check the Y schedule and see if I can do something there this evening. A walk in the neighborhood is probably not happening for a couple days for me!

Hi there everyone --- ok.....I recommit to moving and doing something....I've been so depressed this week/weekend and just couldn't do anything!! I kept thinking about you guys, and looking at the TM, but it just was not happening.

Hi Doreen!! Good to see you over here!

Meme---isn't lasik WONDERFUL!!! I gave that to myself as a Christmas present in 2002...I can't believe it's already been 1 1/2 years without glasses---I LOVE IT!!!

Jackie - I sent you a PM

Thanks for the PD that was sent my way---hopefully it will take hold.

Will check in tomorrow.

Hi everyone! My goal for this week is to stay on WW all week, last week was BIL's 2nd wedding and other BIL's birthday. I get weighed tomorrow and hopefully I did not do too much damage as I walked 23 miles this week.

Karebear1- I will also pledge to walk those extra five minutes a day with you. Your training schedule looks interesting.

pixiechick- Have a great time!

tw1nsmom- I hear what you are saying about putting everyone else first. It is hard to put yourself first sometimes and you are absolutely right about not doing your best if you are not healthy.

ohmom- I had a hard time when I paid $85 for a pair of NB walkers two months ago but they are really supportive and are great to walk in.

trola2- Sorry about the tree, gald to hear your family and house are okay.

Auntmeme- I go back and forth about Lasix surgery glad to hear yours went well.

DoeWDW- Welcome, I just joined this wonderful group last week. They welcomed me with open arms and are extremely encourging. I can't wait to meet everybody in January.

AlreadyexcitedGrammy- Mondays are tough for me too, because I weigh in on Tuesdays. A cyber high five back. Three miles and Curves is great!

mishoe1- Glad you have recommitted. Hope you have a better week this week.

Keep it up everybody! 28 weeks from yesterday!

Good morning all! Last week was great! I walked 1/2 hour m-f and then did 5.4 miles on Sat and Sun. I had a doctors appointment on Tue. My BP was 117/72! It has never been better. My resting pulse rate has dropped 20 points. And here is the best part; I registered on the scale for the first time in years(scale only goes to 350)!!! But wait it gets better. On Saturday I got my blood work back. I am now back in a non diabetic range! All this by just watching what I eat and walking every day. This week I plan on my 1/2 hour walk every morning at 6AM and then on Sunday I am walking in a 5K race. My goal is to do the 5K at a 16 minute pace. I will let you all know how I do next week.

Great job Terry! That is such great news about your health! Keep up the good work.

I walked 3 miles on Saturday and 2 miles on Sunday. Yesterday I did 1 and 1/2 miles. I put away the scale after my WW weigh-in yesterday. I am going to try to go the whole week without weighing. I am going to concentrate on walking and training for the half marathon. I can already tell a difference in my clothes and in the way that I feel, but the scale just was not moving. I will join in the commitment to go the extra mile this week.

Someone asked about my children last week, and I never got a chance to reply. I have 4 DDs: 5, 3, 3, and 1. I had twins in the middle! I am still convinced that the twins are trying to kill me. LOL! When we go to Disney World we take 2 double strollers. :sunny:

Oh, I almost forgot, I actually jogged some of the 1 and 1/2 miles yesterday! You guys have inspired me to try new things. I have never been a runner. I just imagined that there was a Twinkie truck at the end of the street, and I was inspired to run a little faster. :hyper:

katiebelle - I used to love twinkies......... they are a thing of the past for me but I loved the visual you created, and I sure would have tried to keep your pace and tried one again with you!!
::yes::

Got the extra mile in today - literally for me - did 4 on the tm and Curves this evening. I have to say I feel really good today - I think I am getting rid of the "carb residue" from the weekend splurge!!

Welcome to all that have joined the thread - just how many of us are there now? I keep reading haven't had much time to post but believe me I think of all of you everyday and it is just helps me so much to know that we are in this together.

Keep up the good work everyone!

I tried posting earlier this morning about my walk, but I wasn't able to access the DIS. Did anyone else have taht porblem or was it just me?

Well- I walked 1.25 miles- the .25 was a result of my extra 5 minutes taht I added to each work out for this week. I actually liked working the extra 5 minutes. I felt like I got a lot more out of that mile.

Katiebelle- You Go Girl! You actually jogged some. That is so wonderful. It is amzing how people can inspire us to do thigns we didn't think we would/could otherwise do. Good luck on the no weighing this week. that is somethign I've tried- but could not do!

Terry- WHat great results you've ahd from walking! I wish my blood pressure and blood glkucose numbers would go down like yours did! !hat is fantastic! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

LAWalz- 23 miles! WOW! That is so far. You should get in the car a drive 23 miles one way to see where it would take you! CONGRATS>

Monica- I've been down the street you were on last week with depression. Please let me knwo if there's anything I can do to help.

Mom- I don't need porthodics, but when I bought my new good running shoes I felt that big lump under my arch too! It didn't take to lonmg for me to adjust. Really just a copuple of days. Now, when I walk without shoes, I can feel the difference in the way I land on my feet from before. I hope you adjust quickly too and can get back on the road again soon! that was very nice of you to send that stuff to Beth.

Grammy- how's you eating going for the day? I'm doing well with it so far. thanks for the challenge. Did you get up 15 minutes early today?

Ashley- I loved you b-day story- you're a very creative woman. How have you been doing with your running? How about those kids you watch- are their eating habits getting any better?

Meme- glad to hear you are recovering from your lasic surgery. I wear glasses, but not very often, but my DD Alissa has awful eyesight- I 've been thinking about having her checked to see if they could do that surgery on her, but her eyes are still changing, so until they stop- there's not much we can do about it. Keep excercising- just gently! :teeth:

DoeWDW- WELCOME to our little thraed. We 'd love to have you join us. Please be sure to post - we love news!

Beth- how are you doing with your walking this week?

Hi all! I only did 2 miles today instead of my normal 3.2 but I had to fit it in between an overtime shift (11pm-7am) and my regular shift (9am-5pm) at two different locations. I am going to do the extra 5 minutes starting tomorrow. I actually lost 1.6 lbs. this past week.

Terry- Great news about your BS and BP. I also have plans for a 5K race/walk in late July.

Katiebelle- I think the jogging part is great. I want to work up to that myself. My sister has 6.5 yo twins and they keep her hopping and it is just the them.

AlreadyexcitedGrammy- 4 miles and Curves! WOW! You go!

Have a great Tuesday, everyone! Keep it up!

Hi WISH walkers

This is a very BUSY week for me so I'm not sure how much I'll getto post but I definitely will be thinking of all of you. In fact by thinking of you I kept myself from stopping and getting the ice cream that I keep thinking I need at the local custard stand today :D . Thank you for inspiring me to not eat it and to remember that I recommitted yesterday to getting my eating back on track! I started over with my cheat free bear yesterday and I have actually made it 2 days in a row now!

I walked for an hour yesterday (I actually added in a few spurts of jogging again for the first time in about a month and my shins aren't killing me today :D ). I really wanted to get out there tonight again but I ran out of time before it got dark so I am going to try and go at least an hour tomorrow, or make that 65 min to add the extra 5 min that Karen is inspiring everyone to do. What a great idea Karen!

Welcome to all the newcomers that have joined this thread  This is a great group of very motivating people! I feel that because of all the support we give each other here I will actually be able to accomplish this. :grouphug:

Keep walking everyone!

Cheryl

So all you recommitters for this week -how is it going? Getting a tad easier to resist and food just becoming secondary thoughts? I am doing okay - along with this thread keeping me on the straight and narrow - my buddy group has recommitted to food journaling and - well - that makes me "think" just a tad more about what I really am going to eat cause I gotta write it down for them to see. I also find that if I write it down and know exactly what I am going to eat that I don't stray too far from my plan. Also, my 7 pm rule - no food after that magic hour - when I know that is what I am doing - I don't even think about food now in the evening.

I did set my alarm 15 minutes earlier and today I did 3 tm miles and then 15 minutes of stretching and yoga. I really wanted to stop at 2 miles and then I remembered that I said I would go that "extra" bit - so I hung in there and of course, when I was all done - I was glad with that decision ::yes:: Ah - yes- thank you Karen for that suggestion

Time to get back to the office - hope everyone is having a really good day - don't forget to drink your H20, too!
