Mar. 13, 2010 Eastern Magic - "Caribbean Amphibians"

We are at -7 right now in Ontario....good for the ice rink!

Don't forget the windchill factor making it -22. Can't wait for sunny days on the Magic!

For those who have cruised before.... should I be packing summer clothes (shorts/T's) or more spring like clothes (capris)?

67 days to go!

I ordered Caribbean Ampbibian T-Shirts from a local printer today - I expect they will be a great souvenir before we ever start. We'll likely wear ours for embarkation.

Got $460 in savings, so now we have hotel rooms for the day prior and day after covered, that will help (we don't fly home until Sunday). I think I just about have enough Mypoints saved up to pay for rental cars as well. So, now, its time to hunker down and survive our coldest week of the year (and as Texans, admittedly 15 for a low is not that bad - but we hate this stuff!).

OHH - CAN YOU post a pic of the shirts? I didn't love the one I got as it was too generic looking...

you do mypoints -- do you do swagbucks as well? great for getting free stuff!

I have never used swagbucks - I have not heard of it.

I'll take a picture of the T-Shirt once I get them back.

I am so torn between two excursions on St. Thomas: the Buckeye Catamaran Sail and Snorkel 3.5 hours, or the Full Day Caribbean Sail & Snorkel to Turtle Cove & Honeymoon 6.5 hours.

We'd be leaving the baby on board at Flounders ($6 an hour, yousa), so that's part of the dilemma. I'm not sure how I feel about leaving her for the whole day.

Has anyone done one of these excursions before? I'd love to hear your thoughts on them.

Thanks!

We are considering the Captain Nautica snorkeling excursion at 3.5 hours - wanted to leave just a bit of time to shop/wander around afterwards. I haven't found a great deal of info on the disboard about the Eastern excursions for some reason. Seems not many people are doing trip reports from that route either!

Woohoo! I just ordered our Fish Extender off of Ebay. I am so not a crafty kind of person, so I think it's great that someone else will make it for me. :rotfl:

I also ordered our daughter's NoZone swim suit http://www.nozone.ca/noz_usa.htm. It's a bit more than I had anticipated spending for an infant swim suit, but she's so fair skinned that I want to keep her as safe from the sun as possible.

I love this part of the cruise. All of the planning and packing and anticipating is so fun!

Hi Iggipolka,
I finally got around to reading your 'babymoon' trip report ... what a fabulous time you had. Just reading it makes me want something better than the mundane fare we have planned for dinner tonight!
We are also DVC members - new last year, at BLT. But am hoping to book an AKL stay before too long. Just love the idea of seeing those animals from the balcony.
Are you planning to do a trip report on our cruise? Hope so -- it will be great reading, if it's anything like this one. And now we'll be able to recognize you, thanks to the pics. (And we'll recognize Princess Lillian too, if she wears that hat!)
Also wanted to ask, since you guys are such Toy Story Mania fans, whether you've tried the Wii version? We got it for DD this Christmas, and I confess that I'm the one who's nuts about it. Go figure. Now thanks to you I'm going to be studying that Youtube video in order to lift my paltry scores when we're back at DHS!
Best wishes!

I'm working on our door signs as we speak!

I usually use most of the same ones. Theres a few with the date, that I have to change. I always start packing 1 month before it sails, so not to far away!!:thumbsup2

I am so ready to go! Well except for the packing.... I haven't decided on shore excursions yet, hopefully tonight. Looks like everyone has been busy making plans. We have done this itinerary before so we are kinda leaning towards beach days in ports. It all sounds good right now.:beach:

Are there any more teens on this cruise? I would start a teen thread but havent seen enough to keep it going.:confused3

Hi everyone! I.ve ordered my FE's and have got all my treasures to deliver. It is going to 22 degrees tonight here in Florida!!! It's not the way it's supposed to be! i saw some treasure chests at Walmart yesterday for Valentines Day. I thought they woud make cute goodie containers for my grandkids. They are $10. I had trouble booking Palo for my kids. All the reservations were for crummy times and for 2 or 6 people. We said we'd watch the kids so our 2 kids and their spouses could have a quiet dinner......I hope I know what I;m doing. One night is my 36 yr old son's birthday. Any ideas what to do to make supper special? Can you order a cake? How about a photo? Going out now to cover all plants before the frost, Florida may be brown when you all get here. P.S Do you really need that much sun screen?

If you tell your servers ahead of time, they will bring out a birthday cake and sing. The cake is the same if you pay to deliver it to the room, or you just get it for free in the dining room. ( I think I read it was free in a TR.):thumbsup2

Hey Everyone - If you're making door signs and want them with photo-print quality....go to this link - http://modelsearch.parenting.com/modelsearch/and register (no need to upload any pics) and it will give you a code for $10 off any order at Shutterfly. I just ordered some that I'll laminate and put magnets on when they come....enjoy!

Even in TX we endured cold over the weekend. We hit the middle teens a couple of nights. 51 is just lovely in comparison today!

Still no cruise shirts yet - I need to talk my printer!

WE are so excited that we have reached the 2 month mark! I spent last night making magnets for our doors and we have put up our countdown calendar for the kids (and me!) to check off the days til our cruise.
Hope everyone else is getting excited too!:tinker:party:

last time we were cruising we figured out that for our family of five - we needed 1.5 spray sunscreens each day. We got (the adults) particularly burnt on the second island and couldn't find even a small container of screen for under $14. I'd rather have extra than not enough. I am also bringing two face sticks.

I started pulling clothes from everyone closets and drawers last night. It's a good thing because DS13 had outgrown most of the summer clothes! off to the store!:scared1:
