Man removed from flight because of odour



A man with foul body odour was removed from an Air Jazz flight from Charlottetown, P.E.I., to Montreal, Que., earlier this month, Charlottetown's The Guardian newspaper is reporting.

Penny Walsh of Charlottetown was on the flight. She told the newspaper she had a cold and couldn't smell the man, but other passengers weren't happy about the odour.

"The guy next to me said, 'It's brutal,'" Walsh said.

Walsh said she observed as the flight crew escorted the man from the plane and said she thought it was for the best.

"It's a very uncomfortable situation. I honestly think in this situation they handled it appropriately," she said.

Air Canada did not immediately return QMI Agency's request for comment.

I really feel for flight attendants who have to deal with that.

I did see an episode of that Southwest show where they had to not allow a man to board until he got cleaned up. They bought him some deodorant and soap and were able to get him a shirt and pants from maintenance. I thought they handled it beautifully, but how embarrassing it must have been for everyone!

At one of my former jobs the H.R. department had to pull an employee aside and explain to her that many other employees were bothered by her odor. I wasn't at that location so I couldn't attest to the awfulness of it but I am glad it wasn't my job to have that conversation.

It is a no-win for the airline. Either way they will probably get bad press.

The question is which is worse, sitting next to her while she ate them or sitting in the car on the way home after she ate them? Hopefully she wasn't getting a connecting flight

see, now food odor wouldn't bother me. even if it was a food i didn't like. but BODY odor is another story.

OK, the chili cheese dogs made me think of that godawful Stitch ride - thanks a lot.

I am glad they kicked the smelly guy off. Body odor is incredibly nasty. Can't people at least wash their face, armpits and areas "below the waist" before dressing in the morning?

I worked with a woman who had incredibly....strong....body odour. We were quietly informed that she had a medical condition that caused this. It was not a hygiene issue, but it still could be a struggle some days.

OMG!!! I know about 6 teachers in middle school - 6/7/8th grades here - and all of them say the same thing. The one teacher actually thanked me for sending a wash cloth and a bottle of Degree with my DS to use after gym class. She had my permission to read him the riot act if he ever came to her class smelling funkalishis. And he knew she would to.

I don't like spending the extra money, but I love the fact that DS like and uses ALL of the Axe body products. He just told me that when I go to the store this weekend he needs everything but the body spray.

There are still cultures where deoderant is not worn. When the US invaded the al quaeda camps in Afghanistan, the soldiers found instructions for terrorists who were going to live in the US. One of was on how to use deoderant - it said to wear it on the skin, not on the clothes.

Yeah, I wish that more smelly people would be asked to AT LEAST go into the bathroom and clean themselves up a bit or take care of the smell. I've sat next two a few different people that made my eyes water! One was a lady from India (I know because the flight attendant had a small conversation with her while I was sitting there)- she brought food onto a plane that was this AWEFULL smell- it was some type of fishy thing in a can. YUCK- people were giving her a MAJOR GLARE!!! then there was this larger guy who obviously hadn't taken a shower in a day or two- that was the worst! I was gagging. I asked to be re-seated, but the plane was full. The flight attendant KNEW how horrible he smelled- but she said nothing to him. It was the worst 2 1/2 hour flight ever!

Oh yeah... I hear ya. We had an employee who had no idea what deoderant was. We have an auto collision repair shop. This gentlemen spent a good deal of the time in and out of the office interacting with customers and other office employees. It was bad.

Finally one of the other men couldn't take it any longer. He point blank told the guy he needed deodorant.. Only the smelly one had not a clue what that was. He took him down the street to the Walgreens. Showed it to him and bought it for him!
Now for the funny part...
One day we have a car come in that was totalled out. In it was left a women's Jean Nate' gift set. deodorant, cologne and the like. The customer didn't want it, and it was being tossed in the trash when the employee who was enlightened as to the use of deodorant. spotted it and asked if he could have it. "Sure..help yourself" he was told. I figured he was going to give it to his wife or something.
NOPE....
Every day after that..he came in smelling like Jean Nate'. I tell ya..you can't make this stuff up.
Hey..at least he didn't wreak of B.O. ever again and I was good with that.

on last trip home from WDW, friend and I sat behind a huge woman who FARTED the whole 2 hours. It was disgusting and my friend kept making remarks under her breath(which I tried to shush her). Why wouldnt the lady go to the bathroom to let it go?
