I dated a guy from the middle east. He always had the most beautiful smell. I loved to smell his hair. I would often just lean up against him so I could smell his curls. He used Suave hair gel. Go figure. It had the most awesome smell. I also liked hugging him so I could smell his cologne on his neck. Man how I miss him.....LOL.

Not all middle easterners smell.

on last trip home from WDW, friend and I sat behind a huge woman who FARTED the whole 2 hours. It was disgusting and my friend kept making remarks under her breath(which I tried to shush her). Why wouldnt the lady go to the bathroom to let it go?

We had this same problem on our 11 hour flight to Milan. There was an available seat in another row; I took it. That left my husband dealing with Fart Man all on his own. My husband said he knew everytime it was going to come his way because the guy would turn on the overhead air to make sure it blew back.

Yeah, I wish that more smelly people would be asked to AT LEAST go into the bathroom and clean themselves up a bit or take care of the smell. I've sat next two a few different people that made my eyes water! One was a lady from India (I know because the flight attendant had a small conversation with her while I was sitting there)- she brought food onto a plane that was this AWEFULL smell- it was some type of fishy thing in a can. YUCK- people were giving her a MAJOR GLARE!!! then there was this larger guy who obviously hadn't taken a shower in a day or two- that was the worst! I was gagging. I asked to be re-seated, but the plane was full. The flight attendant KNEW how horrible he smelled- but she said nothing to him. It was the worst 2 1/2 hour flight ever!

Sometimes even that isn't enough.

Years ago, I was a staff nurse on a general medical floor. There was a child whose father smelled so bad that we drew straws to see who would take care of her. One day, one of my co-workers had had all she could take. She took towels and soap into the room, told the Dad she wasn't busy and she would sit with his DD while he took a bath.

The man went into the bathroom (we have all private rooms with en suite baths) and RAN THE WATER but didn't actually bathe! Like some little kid trying to fool his mom! We had tried to make excuses for him, saying maybe he didn't want to leave the child even to shower, but to not even bathe when you're in a private bathroom while an RN watches your child??! We couldn't come up with any excuse for that.

He stayed in there for 10-15 minutes with the water running, and came out just as ripe as when he went in. Dry and ripe.

(this was a caucasian male in his 30s, btw, so there were no cultural differences regarding cleanliness)

I wish they had asked the girl sitting next to me on my last flight off of the plane. She had 4 chili cheese dogs with onions and took the entire hour and a half flight to eat them .

Wow, four chili cheese dogs on a plane? That's kind of crazy! (Then again, I don't think those things look or smell appetizing in any scenario, let alone the close quarters of airline seats!)

The worst I've had was someone eating McDonalds on a plane....I'd already been on a 10 hour flight, was tired and slightly queasy and the smell of that grease...ugh. Can't blame the person who brought it on though; airline food leaves a lot to be desired

Now I know that it's not always possible, but ladies, when you go into spontaneous labor, could you try to take a shower before coming into the hospital? Most times, you have time for a quick 3 minute shower - remember, your coolie will be on display for quite a bit of tim, and you never know how soon you'll be able to take another one after the baby is born. And if you're gonna breastfeed......well, old sweat underneath the girls is no appetizer

I just finished taking a shower then went to bed, my water broke-eeww. I even took a shower in the hospital while waiting for DD to arrive. Our l & D rooms had private showers. But I ended up with e c section, I was so doped up on meds I couldn't have cared if Daffy Duck came into the room-lol.

DH & I know someone who has a horrible odor due to a medical condition. We've never said anything to him, or asked him for info. We just know its medical from things he has said to us about doctors. He's a long distance truck driver. Leads a very lonely life. When he's in the area, he'll stop in - maybe once or twice a year or so. He's spent the night. I've had to fumigate and wash everything. I know he's embarrassed yet grateful to have us a friends.

Last few times, he's been on some newer medicine & it wasn't nearly as bad.

Happy for him.

I really feel for flight attendants who have to deal with that.

I did see an episode of that Southwest show where they had to not allow a man to board until he got cleaned up. They bought him some deodorant and soap and were able to get him a shirt and pants from maintenance. I thought they handled it beautifully, but how embarrassing it must have been for everyone!

I remember that episode! I kept thinking what a horrible situation to be in.

Years ago, I had a co worker that had the worst smell about her. The HR woman had to call her in and tell her they had had so many complaints and she had to sign something saying she would take care of it or be dismissed. She looked clean but omg, that was awful. I had to give her a ride once and it was brutal and then I picked up my mom from work and she was convinced I had a dead animal in my car! It was Maine and it was winter but I kept the car windows down after I picked her up to air out the car!

Bottom line, the airline has many passengers to accomodate and I can't think of anything worse than being stuck next someone on a plane that stunk. Its not like you can get off when it gets so bad you can't stand it anymore!

I can only imagine! When I was pregnant and near the end of my pregnancy, I took a shower before bed every night just in case! I lucked out (or rather the staff did ) and was induced with ds and had a scheduled c section with dd so I could prepare myself before I went to the hospital!

Many years ago we were on a flight from Denver to Philadelphia. In the row behind us was a transvestite that kept spraying himself with perfume.

Of course, the plane was full and there was no where to go. Both DH and I are asthmatics and bothered by perfume, so it seemed like the longest flight ever.

On one of my flights to Orlando, I sat next to a woman who had a lap dog in a carrier. (I was seated in the middle.) All of a sudden I smelled this terrible odor. I'm looking around trying to find the source, and I finally figured it out. It was the dog's breath!

It was a verrry long flight.

Yeah, is there any rules/regulations about too much perfumes? I know 3 people who get BAD BAD BAD headaches when they are around people who spray perfumes- I can't imagine that an airplane would be a good place for a person with a perfume allergy! I remember one time when I was flying (several years ago-) a mom and younger daughter took out nail polish and they were going to paint their nails- the flight attendant asked them to seal the polish back up- because people were complaining of headaches in the area.

But, if there are people with actual allergies, how is that supposed to work- like allergies to perfumes, NUTS- that has to be a bad one! A kid in my school can't even be close to the smell of any type of nut or he starts to have a MAJOR reaction. What is a person supposed to do on a plane? When they can't get away from it and there's no place else to go?

ummmm, please tell me what this comment has to do with people who smell on planes personally I kinda find the comment offensive and frankly obnoxious I think just about every woman cleans up the "area's" prior to leaving for the hospital, unless it is an emergency besides the fact that some women could be in labor for up to 48 hours, so I don't think that 3 minute shower will make a bit of difference and as far as as the sweat under the girls goes, well again after hours of labor, I think you may sweat just a little bit

I use to have a coworker who would (I am guessing) only shower every third day or so. He would wear the same outfit three to four times a week. Some days that would mean that he would walk into the office wearing the same wool sweater that he was wearing yesterday (and the day before) in side out. He was so stinky!!

When he was out of the office on vacation we would place his chair outside to air out. Too bad the chair was leather and not very breathable.

Speaking of that leather chair...This coworker was a lean and farter. The leather chair would then amplify the 'rumble' throughout the office area.

He was a nice enough coworker. Very helpful and very genuine, just very stinky. A coworker told me that once (before my time working there) that his stench got so bad that she refused to go in the office. She told their supervisor that she would come back once Mr. Stinky showered and did not smell. According to her, it took nearly a week for that to happen.

Since that job I have had a few jobs in the medical field and within the dress code section of the employee handbook there is always a section dedicated solely to personal grooming and cleanliness.
