A couple of years ago, C.Ann actually started a thread called that and it got up to like 600 pages or something huge. It's actually what started all the ebaying questions around here.

I have to get listing, though lately I am having a great time buying. I have gotten several Christmas items for the kids lately. Have to be careful when the boxes come though cause the kids are wanting to know what "we" got. :rotfl:

C.Ann's original thread was so long that it eventually was closed and continued into a second thread! Very specific information is a bit dated, but the basic information and cautions about eBay still apply.

I've only sold a couple of things during the past 2 years. I've been sorting and have to brush up on the changes made by eBay and PayPal while I've been away! :)

ya know...already people are changing my club name! i was the prez for about 5 minutes & i was impeached! :rotfl:

Yup, gotta love ebay! I have some auctions going and the one with the most action is the one for coupons. :rotfl: Now, if that isn't selling cr@p, I don't know what is. :sunny:

HayGan Thanks for the kind words.I do have a bunch od cr*p as the club wouldsay up now .Actually some great pin sets People are buying coupons ??? What kinda of coupons?? I want to be in the club too please
Thanks Brenda

We love Ebay :lovestruc
I have bought and sold a lot over the years. We are currently Ebaying our way to Disney. Should be able to pay for the whole trip by the time we are done! We are both ham radio people and DH especially "collects" a LOT of stuff. :rotfl2: We are going through his inventory of radios and such and selling off some. I am preparing to go through a lot of my stuff too and start listing it.

So I've read most of the Help stuff on eBay, but still have some questions:

How does Paypal actually pay you (the seller)? It looks like they take a cut, but how do they send your money?

Aren't you constantly running to the post office to mail stuff out?

How do you calculate how much shipping will cost, and do most of you include shipping in your asking price?

What about bigger items - like furniture - how do you ship them to the buyer?

Thanks!!

You can transfer the money from your paypal account to your bank account. After you have been a Premier member with Paypal for a few months you can get a Debit Card so you can take the money out that way.

We ship out twice a week. We use stamps.com so we print postage at home then just drop the items off at the post office.

Get a good postal scale and weigh the item with packing material and box and go to usps.com and check the rates.

Furniture is usually done as a local pick up only. Shipping big things is a PAIN!

Good luck!

You can actually print your label on Paypal, i fthey have paid that way, with the postage coming out of Paypal. Or, you can print your label through the Post Office on line and your mailman will take your package direct from your house (you can leave notice you have stuff to be picked up on his regular route (don't make it a special pick up..that costs more) and he's happy to do it. Apparently they get a small cut. Our mailman bugs us and bugs us to do it that way.

I don't know if they are still around, but crate and freight used to be a way to get furniture delivered..and the buyer arranged it and paid. I woudl rather just put for local pick-up..there is a place to tick that off when you list.

I have a scale and weigh my item, then when I put it up to bid (except on the stuff that goes flat rate Priority or first class) I fill out the form that gives the buyer delivery costs based on what you put on the form for weight, size and any extra you want to include for handling. YOu can pick your method as well.

Really? I never wanted to bother them. (luckily my po is 1/2 mile away :) )

Woohoo!! I made another 100 bucks by selling my dh's old Game Boy Advanced (the old kind mind you , not the SP version) + a few gb games. :cool1:

Anyone know of a good place to get shipping boxes? (large kind, I have to ship some dolls)

Does anyone sell kids clothes. We have taken ours to consignment stores but they barley give you anything for them. Thinking e-bay may be a better way to go.

the best kids clothes that go are Kelly's Kids, Gymboree, GAP, Old Navy really anything name brand.. Bailey Boys all the smocked dresses etc..etc. you might do better listing in lots!

Thanks, we have a bunch of name brand stuff that is really stacking up. I think we will give it a try!
