I saw it last night and I definitely recommend it!

There is never a time when you think 'arrgh when is this going to end!?' and when it does get to the end you're not thinking 'ohh, that was rubbish'. And one piece of advice I will give: stay in the cinema for the credits!! Obviously I don't want to give away why you need to stay, but just stay! I promise you, you will regret it if you're in a hurry to get out of your seats!

It's a hilarous, upbeat, fun film that appeals to everyone!

I'm ususally not a fan of broadway shows turned to movies. I can just go and see the real thing on broadway because I live so close. The re-makes usually just turn out not as good as the actual live show.

True. Phantom of the Opera wasn't good compared to the live show (Gerard Butler couldn't sing for crap).

Hairspray, can't compare it yet.

ehhh, I don't know. I've seen MM twice on Broadway, but I'm not a huge fan of the show. Fun songs, yes, I still listen to it alot because it's fun upbeat songs, but the actual show? eh. Not my favorite.
I'll prolly wait until it's out on dvd to see it.

And yes, musicals turned into movies (recent ones at least) generally aren't as good. The only one I liked better than the stage show was Chicago.
