We had eaten here in May 2009 on the F! package, and while it was nothing to write home about, the food was OK and the tiramisu was good. We went back the week before Christmas, also with the F! package, and apparently, they have changed chefs and the food was not good. The meat and cheese appetizer was the best thing we ate there, so things started off ok. But then came the entrees. I ordered the steak (the gargonzola steak that was on the old menu was pretty good)-- this new steak was NOT. I actually had to send mine back b/c it had a huge strip of gristle running straight through the middle of it (I expect gristle on a new york strip, but not right in the middle of the steak). Even when I got my new steak, it was tough (and I order my steaks meduim rare), and just not good. Then, when I thought we'd be ok for dessert, since I ordered what I thought was the "old stand by" of tiramisu, I was in for a nasty surprise. Apparently, the new chef has a "new take" on Tiramisu, and his dessert is really flavored coffee in a cup with lady fingers in it and some gelato on top-- it was a DRINK, not a dessert, IMO. I had to send that back, too, and got chocolate cake istead (which was called canoli cake-- another bad name, IMO, since my mom odered it expecting a canoli!). Anyhow, I think we're done with the F! package for now. Since we use DDP, and the only other one credit choice is H&V, which is also supposed to be yuck. Just thought I'd warn a few others about the bad steak and the tiramisu that's not! --Katie

we were there in april last year and i booked it on a whim. gotta say it wasn't a really good meal. i didn't like mine at all, can't remember what hubby ate, but i dont think he finsihed it.

now about h&v i think im the only ones on the board that likes it! lol we've done it twice now and will do again next month. im fussy and have a lot of dietary issues(crohns) and always manage to find somthing to eat. and yeah i've read the horrid reports of kids sticking various body parts in the food...but in all honesty is it that different from any other buffet? can't really speak for that one, we don't have any buffet restaurants up here, atleast not like down in the states, ie golden corral, etc.

We really liked it in June. There were 5 of us including one with a dietary issue. The food was good and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. I am headed back there next weekend!! I hope that it is still good as it is the ONLY resturant at DHS that I actually liked!!

The dining options in the Studios are just lacking. We've done MM 3 or 4 times not when we just can't stomach another Studios counter service and you can typicall get a table walk up there. I don't remember anything specifically other than we've never had anything there that was great. We're done trying with eating at the Studios.

I used to enjoy Brown Derby and you can almost always get a table, but frankly our last meal there was bland and way more expensive than the quality deemed. I don't mind paying $10 for a bowl of soup, but I expect the soup to be excellent, not campbells. I'm totally not opposed to paying $300 for a dinner when the dinner is worthy of that $300. So far Artist Point and California Grill have been consistently worth it.

I have seen reviews where people rave over the new twist on the tiramisu! (not on these boards) Sorry your meal was bad!

I didn't care for MM when I went but I do like H&V and will go there this summer for fantasmic.

We tried Mama Melrose last June because we agree, the food selection is lacking at my favorite park! Surprisingly it was one of our favorite meals of our trip. 3/4 of us had the steak, I enjoyed mine more than the steak at LeCelier. We are going back this June and hoping for another good meal.

Gotta say, we've eaten at Mama Melrose on our past two trips and it was delicious both times. In Sept. 2010, I had the grilled chicken pizza and a flourless chocolate cake (both made specially to accommodate my Celiac disease), my husband had the chicken parm and our son had pasta. All was delicious. Actually, we had these same meals the year before, as well, and thought they were delicious then. I guess it all depends on what you order. I'm sorry your experience was not a good one.

We may be in the minority, but our family likes Mama Melrose. While it's not our favorite, we don't find the food bad. We even liked that we got a coffee drink in place of our dessert last time we were there which was very tasty and just what we needed on a very hot day. They were very accommodating. I am going back in June as well.

oh God, I'm doomed. I have a family reunion in August and figured this would be a safe bet for the fantasmic plan.

Brown Derby is my new favorite for the fantasmic package... You can read my review - link below.

We had 2 great lunches at Mama Melrose in Nov and Dec. The steak was good and the appetizers were extremely good.

The tiramisu was different for sure but it was still tasty IMO.

We had the F! Package at MM last May and my DH and I both loved the Pipette. I had it with chicken (not on the menu anymore but I bet they could make it) and my DH had it with shrimp.

I also loved the cheesecake with the amaretti cookies.

I wasn't expecting much from this meal and was pleasantly surprised.

Even more surprising was the fact that they not only let us bring our stroller into the restaurant in the first place, but they also let us bring it to our table since our then 2.5 year was sound asleep. He woke up right before dessert and our waitress offered multiple times to get him a kids meal either for there or to go. We politely declined as he is a hotdog kinda kid, but the service and the food both exceeded our expectations!

We ate at MM in July and I really didn't care for it. It will be a while before I give it another go.

The peppers that were served with our calamari still had the labels on them. My SIL was very, very grossed out. I took it as, "well, this could happen anywhere" but it really ruined our experience. And, our server didn't care.

H&V on the other hand, was decent. I was expecting horror, but the breakfast was quite good. Plus, the characters were very fun.

So sorry to hear. It's been quite a few years since we've eaten here. DHS has never been a favorite of mine for meals. I try to avoid eating here.

We were there in September and were spending the day in the park so I booked a lunch ADR at Sci Fi. It was much better then I remember, 8 of us enjoyed our meal.

We are returning in May and will be spending all day in the park. I made ADR at MM for lunch, hoping it's not too bad.

Just ate there 12/29 for Fantasmic package(2:15 lunch for 6:30pm show). It was our second time there and it was very good. We were seated early, and it was quite busy. Server was attentive and very pleasant. We had DDP but with F package you get app, entree and dessert. Appetizers: caesar salad for DH and I had salad with blue cheese and walnuts..both were delish!! DH had the steak(he enjoyed this even better than the prime rib at Le Cellier..excellent!!) with potatoes and I had flatbread with shrimp and arugila..also both excellent; dessert I had sugar-free lemon creme with berries and it was one of the best desserts all week and DH had cake I think(can't remember, sorry. It was a leisurely meal, but service was efficient. I actually spoke to one of the chefs on the way our as he was standing by the open kitchen and complemented him...I also had read some of the other negative reviews, but I had had a good experience before and I'm glad we did it again....I will put it on my list for next trip also.

We at at MM in 2007 and it was by far the grossest meal of our trip - we will never go back there again. The only restaurant in DHS we will eat at is SciFi Dine-In Theater.
