Mama Melrose temp closing?

I couldn't find this announced anywhere, but multiple people on the Yelp!/tripadvisor review page noted that MM is closing soon during the construction in HS. I currently have a Fantasmic dinner package scheduled there for June 1st.

Anyone have any insight?

It likely won't be until after the pizza planet location reopens in November. There is a construction permit for the mama Melrose location that expires in November 2017. You should be completely fine in June.

This was the first dinner of our Disney vacation and we enjoyed it. It smells great as soon as you walk in the door! I really liked the atmosphere here. The inside is dark and cozy with dim lights all above you. It was inexplicably loud inside for some reason. I had the Margherita flatbread and my boyfriend had a seafood pasta. Both were good, though not amazing compared to some of the food we had later in the week. It's a shame this will be closing soon. I hope when they're done renovating they'll bring it back elsewhere! Glad I got to eat while I still had the chance!

Wonderful Birthday dinner with a friend....The waitress was very entertaining and kept us laughing even after a long day walking in the parks...The food was excellent and it certainly wasn't anything I had ever tried before...Sorry to see this location closing whether its temporary or permanent due to expansions of the Hollywood Studios.

The two restaurants are connected and the permits for construction involve both. I do see mama Melrose closing at some point but until after pizza planet is done.

I don't think its closure has been confirmed so far. It's been heavily rumored and there's a logic to it since as @rteetz says Pizza Planet is currently being refurbished and the two share some stuff.

So yeah almost certainly happening but no one should be putting a date on it at this point. Might not even be this year at the pace they go. Pizza Planet isn't even supposed to re-open until "late 2016."

Since it was a reoccurring theme on the recent reviews, it made me wonder if they were being informed by staff when dining there, or if there was some sort of sign posted indicating it was "soon." The only Disney news site I found that mentioned it had the same explanation as @rteetz and no expected dates.

The only date we know of it the permit expiration date of November 2017 which means the work would have to be completed by then. We just don't know when it would start.

Or they could get the permit extended... Surely though it would be done by then.

Our last trip the staff told us they had heard rumors that it might be closed and turned into a Star Wars themed restaurant as part of the expansion. We would really miss it. We eat there every time we go to DHS. We love the Chicken campanelle. To me, it always seems like a little bit of peace, quiet and relaxation on a crazy park day which we don't get at most of the park restaurants. I like the set up of the restaurant and the fact the tables aren't shoved so close together in one big open room like you see at so many of the other park restaurants and as keeps the noise level loud. I would love to see the whole thing stay as is, but with the Streets of America gone and it not fitting the themes around it anymore, I can't imagine that they won't repurpose it. We will be very sad when they close it!
