Mama Melrose? How is it?

We actually ate here for the first time on our trip in February. Due to an illness in the rest of our party, DS, DH and I found ourselves with an extra table service credit on the day before we were leaving. We were in MGM that day, and walked up to Sci-Fi. They were fully booked, but the CM checking guests in offered to look up other restaurants for us, and got us a PS at Mama Melroses 10 minutes later.

DH REALLY enjoyed his meal, mine was OK (my calamari appetizer was also DELICIOUS!), and DS had his typical chicken strips.

We'd go back again.

Good to hear that people like MM. I just switched an ADR from Whispering Canyon to MM. Our family likes Italian so I hope we won't be disappointed.

What is the atmosphere like at Mama Melroses? We have never been and are trying to add a couple "new" restaurants to our itinerary in May.

It looks like we are in the minority, but we really didn't like it in December '05. We did the Fantasmic dinner package and both the food and the service were really bad. Maybe it was just an off night, but we won't be going back.

One poster mentioned that the fantasmic pkg menu was very limited and another stated that you can choose any entree, which is correct?

By the way, we have eaten here without the fantasmic pkg and we all enjoyed it.

When we were there in December the menu was limited from the one that is posted on allears, and the menus that we got had something like "Fantasmic Package" written on top. So I will say that the Fantasmic menu is limited.

I was somewhat disappointed at our last visit in December. We've gone a few times prior and it was much better. I had the flatbread pizza like I've had before and the toppings were quite skimpy this time. Of course, it could have depended on who was cooking it. DD's kid pizza was also very skimpy on the toppings (which was sauce and cheese)--how skimpy can you be on those?? I mean then it's just dough with a bit of sauce and cheese--and that's what it was. I had to get her something else to eat after because it wasn't enough. I don't remember it being like this before as I remember never being able to finish my flatbread pizza because it was too much (not this time though:-()

The server was in a somewhat "irriated" mood from a few not so easy tables which left his mood a little to be desired (we were pretty nice). The mood shouldn't be carried over to a new table especially when we were pretty "easy" to serve.

Hopefully this was just a "fluke" visit. We'd probably go back again to determine whether it was just a "off" night. I heard a "rumor" that there may be changes for MM's coming?? As far as "GOOD" Italian goes at WDW, my VERY favorite ITALIAN is DEFINITELY Palio at the Swan. YUMMMMMM!!

This was one of our favorites. We will be making a point of dining there again.

We have ate here several times.

Once I asked for plain spaghetti and sauce. CM was back with my plate in less than 5 minutes. Great stuff. :thumbsup2

We were very disappointed with both the food and the service. Maybe it was an off day but it really wasnt good.

We made ADR's the night of EMH at 7 p.m. We get to the restaurant and they're closed! We were the last seating and there was only two other families eating and they were done with their dinners! So basically we had the place to ourselves. My dad didn't care for the food and the house salad is pathetic, but the chicken pasta dish was AMAZING! And Holly, our server, was too funny and sweet. By the end of the meal she was sitting with us showing us pictures of her niece (I think that's who they were, I was looking at the dessert menu ;) ). It was very relaxing. A great way to start out the night before walking around all of the Christmas lights.

We ate there with the FDP in January (2006) and really enjoyed it. We had really good service, very good food and enjoyed the atmosphere. We had eaten at H&V for the FDP in August 2005 and thought the food was awful. I would definitely go back to MM.

We really liked MM in June and have an ADR for August!!! I loved the caesar salad, the chicken flatbread and the chicken penne pasta dish, very tasty!!! :thumbsup2

I posted it was limited, if it had been any entree of the menu - it would have been much better but there just wasnt the selection to choose from. And what we could choose from, wasnt very appealing.
Perhaps they have changed it since Oct

I hope the menu isn't too limited - I LOVE all italian food but my friend is a picky eater (but better with Italian than any other kind of food!). I also hope there is a choice of dessert as I don't like tiramisu (coffee :crazy2: )

I've also booked for August - the 10th which is a Saturday, it's our only MGM day and I know it's going to be busy but at least through booking the Fantasmic package we stand a good chance of getting a seat and won't have to waste so much time in line.

Actually, the only complaint I do have is that the menu didn't have alot to choose from (which I should've checked before going, but it was still yummy). I guess I was expecting it to be like alot of italian type restaurants at home that have several pages on their menu instead of one or two with just a few things.

Looking at restaurant photos and menus, I think it would be better value paying cash rather than dining plan. IMHO I would rather pay $few more and get a delicious flatbread here than a greasy burger and fries at ABC! :goodvibes

We really liked Mama Melrose (we had lunch), the calamari was some of the best I've ever had, my son had a tuna steak that he said was cooked perfectly, to me it was raw :crazy2:, my daughter and I shared a flat bread and her kids meal (chicken parm), she doesn't like pasta :confused3, I can't remember what my husband had. Everything was great, my son was disappointed that I hadn't booked an ADR there for August, I wanted to try Prime Time this trip.
