We are thinking of trying Mama Melrose on our MGM day. Its the only restaurant in MGM we haven't tried. How is it? Has anyone eaten there lately?

We LOVE it. The food is excellent, and the service is always friendly. It's also not as loud as some other restaurants at Disney. I would recommend an early dinner seating, as the place is usually empty for the first hour or so. Have fun! :cheer2:

The food was pretty good but not traditional - no plain spagetti. You can see a menu on allearsnet.com.

We enjoyed it! I really like the atmosphere ... a little darker and quieter.

DDs enjoyed their food (pizza and chicken ... LOL!) We really liked the bruschetta appetizers and desserts were yummy. I had a chicken artichoke pasta with peas. It was good but kind of bland. My DH had a pasta with sausage that he really enjoyed. The service was terrific. Our CM spent a lot of time talking to us and making sure we were enjoying the experience.

We had avoided Mama's because of what we had read on these boards in the past, but decided to try it on our last visit. We were very pleasantly surprised by one of the best meals of our trip.

Our party of two adults and two (very fussy) teens all loved it, particularly the appetizers, which were out of this world.

We may have just been there on an off-night :confused3 , but in 7 days this was the only place where the food ranged from barely okay to inedible. I enjoyed my CS desserts but DH & I couldn't even eat the chocolate cake here. The only exception was my Calamri appetizer was very good but my DH's bruschetta were truly awful - dry, bland, etc. The service was fine but nothing special and I wouldn't go back.

Thanks guys for the positived review :thumbsup2

I have booked 2 adults for the Fantasmic! Dinner Package at MM in August so am enthused by the positive comments.

Just wanted to say that we love Mama Melrose. I think it has improved a lot over the past year or two. The menu is good and the service has always been good when we are there. They have some type of crostini and cheese appetizer that was just awesome and we also enjoyed the penne vodka and chicken parm. Enjoy!

We have always loved Mama Melrose's and never understood why it doesn't get better reviews here.
Like lisadisney says, not traditional, plain Italian -- a little different, but certainly not exotic or weird. Good solid food.
And what we always like is that it is un-Disney. It provides a little escape -- like a nice, neighborhood Italian restaurant -- when you need an hour or two break from the "Mouse craziness!"
This should get you to menu:

Have fun!

I've heard that the MM menu is different for those doing the Fantasmic! Dinner Package - could anyone confirm this for me? If so, what is the separate menu?

Hi! DF and I just did the Fantasmic package at MM in Feb. The menu was nice! You get salad, choice of flatbread pizza (yum!), choice of entree and choice of dessert. I found plenty of options and didn't feel limited at all. Interesting that others said it was quiet...we found it somewhat noisy! But we were comparing to Brown Derby, so maybe that is not fair! Overall we were pleased with the place and will consider it again for our next trip.

The food was great and so was the service. The steaks were so tender you can cut them with a fork. :goodvibes

we went in October on the fantasmic package. Orignally we booked on the dining plan but then switched to the Fantasmic Package when we could use the dining plan as well. We didnt realize that the menu was different if you booked under the Fantasmic Package. There was limited choices and we found it bery difficult to find anything that we would eat. I am picky but DH is not and he hated what he was served. The food was awful. BUT I can say the service was very good.

We would never go back their again even if someone was buying us dinner.

The food is Very good..my brother hated it till we ate there a second time

We had a surprisingly good meal there 12/05. DH wanted plain old spaghetti & the server got it for him even tho it wasn't on the menu.

I do like MM but do find they use a lot of herbs in their dishes. I find some things have an overpowering herb taste.

We have a FDP for Mama Melrose's too.

I've read mixed reviews on the food, but I'm sure the kids & I will find something we can "pick" at. And DH will eat just about anything. The only thing I care about is whether or not I can get tiramisu for dessert w/ the FDP.

So, w/ the FDP, is tiramisu one of the desserts you can order? Please say I can! :teeth:

I tried it for the first time my last visit.

I thought it was ok....food was average, service was average.....I cannot say with enthusiasm you have to try this restaurant although I know there are some who love it.

We like Mama Melrose. I've done the Fantasmic Dinner package once and it was great. You got to choose between 2 salads, any entree off the menu and any dessert off the menu.
Last summer we ate there twice. The second time we had the pizza's. Much better than having pizza's at Pizza Planet.

We enjoyed it. I loved the Oven Baked Caprino Cheese in a tomato basil sauce and rosemary garlic crostini $6.19 and the veal. Dh had the Mozz and tomatoes and really liked it, he said his salmon was ok ( I am against restuarant fish, never seems to be to my liking) DD had the 4 cheese pasta and gelato for dessert that she loved! WE really had a great meal and the choice fit for our family. We arent into Sci-fi, or 50's prime time, had the dining plan so didnt chose Brown Derby and wasnt into another buffet like hollywood and vine. We will be going back this Dec as it is the best MGM choice for our family.
