I had read on another thread that if you actually paid for this meal (didn't use the meal plan), you have to spend a certain amount of money per person.

Does anyone know if this is true? If so, what is the price?

Depending on what you like to eat, it can be a very good deal. We just did the FDP a couple weeks ago. For some of us it was a great deal and for others not so much but we did it for the special seating so saving money wasn't really what we were looking at. It's a fixed price meal where you get appetizer, entree and dessert. Anyway, here's what we ordered just to give you an idea of whether or not it can be a good deal or not.

me
$10.99 Clams Oreganatta
$21.99 Seafood Cioppino
$05.99 (it's chef's choice but desserts are almost all $5.99)
$02.99 soft drink
=====
$41.96

DH
$07.99 Fresh Mozzerella and Vine-Ripened Tomatoes
$28.99 Charred Strip Steak
$05.99 (it's chef's choice but desserts are almost all $5.99)
$02.99 soft drink
=====
$45.96

DD14
$07.50 Mama's Anitpasto for Two (she split it with her sister)
$21.99 Wood Grilled Tuna
$05.99 (it's chef's choice but desserts are almost all $5.99)
$02.99 juice (I think that's what they cost if I remember correctly)
=====
$38.47

DD12
$07.49 Mama's Anitpasto for Two (she split it with her sister)
$12.99 Carne D'Italia Flatbread
$05.99 (it's chef's choice but desserts are almost all $5.99)
$02.99 juice (I think that's what they cost if I remember correctly)
=====
$29.46

DD12's BFF
$07.99 Fresh Mozzerella and Vine-Ripened Tomatoes
$17.99 Oven Baked Chicken alla Parmigiana
$05.99 (it's chef's choice but desserts are almost all $5.99)
$02.99 soft drink
=====
$34.96

So, you can see that if everybody ordered all of their allotments then it can easily be worth getting the package as long as you're not ordering the flatbread. We just ordered what we wanted and didn't worry about getting our money's worth but as it turns out, overall we did well financially by getting the package. If you don't want all of those courses or the drinks then it becomes less attractive.

clanmcculloch: how did you like the food? I've been reading such bad reviews that I finally eliminated it as an option. But the menu looked so good to me and I loved the idea of the Fantasmic! package.... did you have a good experience there? (more importantly, would you go back?) :goodvibes

We really enjoyed our meal. Two of the 5 of us ordered off the regular menu and 3 of us have laundry lists of allergies meaning the chef had to customize our meals. All of us agreed that the food was delicious. I had read all sorts of reviews indicating long waits to be seated but we were seated within 5 minutes of checking in for our 12:25 ADR (lunch works better for us than an early dinner as we need to have a break before evening entertainment). The chef made our meals as close as she could to the original menu items but I'm sure that the originals are even tastier than what we got (I couldn't have the calamari and sauces would have been richer with butter for instance, plus the flatbread would have been more authentic rather than frozen crust but we loved our food and we were happy that it was actually all safe). DH's steak was perfectly cooked and his sides were tasty and DD12's BFF enjoyed her food though she's actually quite an adventurous eater who will eat just about anything so I'm not surprised she liked it (she liked just about everything she ate the whole trip). Their food looked and smelled very good as well.

Our meals were very slow but that's to be expected with allergies. We were at our table for just over 2 hours. Other guests who are getting the FDP (I could tell from what the server was saying to them plus they got the shared dessert platter) arrived, ate, paid and left in the time we were there so I know it doesn't take most guests that long.

We'll be back, though we also really like 50s PTC and Sci Fi Dine-In and we usually only go to DHS once per trip so DHS days are getting even harder to choose where to eat now that we know we also like MM. Choices are tough! When we want the FDP we'll definitely choose MM as we liked it a lot more than HBD, especially for the price difference and the one time we at at H&V it was just mediocre so MM will be our FDP go-to ADR. We'll probably choose one of the other two on trips where we don't want the FDP just because we'll want to alternate, not because it's not as good.

OH! Price...

our MM meal was $278.85 on May 28, 2012.

6 Adults... I may have added to the gratuity?... but I felt this meal worth every penny.

Hugs,
Mary
