Making WDW special for Grandma's 60th b-day

Hi!

Nine of us are going to WDW for a week to celebrate my mom's 60th birthday. We're staying at an OKW GV for 5 nights, then WL concierge for 2 nights. 11/26-12/3. Me DH and DDs 2 and 7; my brother, his wife, and their 1 yo son, and my mom and her brother.

I'd like to do some special things for my mom while we're there - this is a belated b-day celebration so the usual birthday button, etc. isn't exactly what I'm looking for. What are some of your favorite "special occasion" things to do/see/arrange, etc.?

I'm thinking we'll order her a b-day cake one night anyway (how do I do that?) and I'd like to take her on a tour, too (Keys to the Kingdom?) Candlelight Processional is a must...what else? Obviously I don't mind paying for the extras, but I am not at all opposed to low/no-cost pixie-dust kind of treats, too - like your favorite spot to see fireworks, etc.

Thanks, Jackie

You could have a flower or gift basket delivered. You could do one of the wishes or illumination cruises. I think they'll even do cake on the boat. Keys to the Kingdom was a great tour and it is only about 2 and a 1/2 miles of walking. You can order a birthday cake at any of the TS restruants.

We took my mom, at the time 65, and these were her fav's...

Christmas Party
Dinner at Liberty Tree
Riding Soarin
Dinner at Boma
Comedy Club at Pleasure Island
Candlelight Processional

Just some thoughts.

I would agree. Two of the coolest things that we've ever done/that have been done to me are: Illuminations/Wishes Cruise. But be forewarned. Getting these is difficult. You have to call exactly 90 days in advance actually starting a few minutes before 7:00 to have a chance. I've called a few days prior to 90 days to get the phone menu system down so I can just punch buttons without waiting for the recorded message and still sometimes don't get a ressie.

Second, my wife and I just went to WDW for our 21st anniversary and she arranged a gift basket to be delivered to our room which was delivered a few minutes after we checked in. It was the coolest thing ever for someone to show up at our door with a gift basket for "me".

Sounds like a great time. Enjoy!

Are the Illuminations/Wishes cruises for grand gatherings only, or can anyone do them? We're technically 9 people but 2 of those are under 3 yo so they don't "count"...

Since we're staying concierge for 2 of the days, maybe they can help with that reservation and have more luck than I would!

ANy particular places you've gotten gift baskets from that you've bene pleased with? I thin I've seen the gifts of a lifetime site (is that the name?) but don't know any others.

Thanks guys, Jackie

Even if it is a belated birthday celebration, I'd still get your mother some sort of button to wear everyday. Maybe fashion some sort of silk corsage (if she likes that kind of thing). Cast Members really pick up on that sort of thing.
