Making the DVC Rounds...A March '11 PTR: TR link added p. 30

Hello everybody! Well, it's almost been another week and I haven't had a chance to post the next Quote of the Week! :scared1: And the one I have for this week is a good one, atleast to me! So for a minute let's pretend your on a wonderful Disney bus. You pick the park. ;)

A few years back I remember reading how Disney was adding audio to the buses, like the spiels on the monorails. I have to say, now those bus spiels are one of the best things about Disney. Are you still imagining you're on a bus? Now imagine that you're just a few minutes away from the park. The guy comes on and starts talking about the park and offers you some "inside tips". I don't know what it is about those spiels but it always gets me pumped. Maybe it's the way they describe the parks and all the attractions. Or maybe it's the park music that serves as the background. You can't help but get excited for your day! :yay::yay::yay: So...

my quote of the week is...

"It's all waiting for you today at the Magic Kingdom*. We'll be there soon!"

*or insert your park of choice ;)

I even found some videos on youtube of the Epcot and MGM spiels (yes, it is MGM...the videos are now outdated, LOL!). Ahh I love it! Really makes me want to be there now! Enjoy!

I love your quote of the week! Listening to those bus spiels makes me want to go back again so bad! Especially since we are getting more snow here tomorrow after the 20 inches we got 2 weeks ago, lol.

I know, right?! I'm going to go listen to them again right now. I just love them! Can't wait to hear them in person though. haha

I can hear it!! I love that!!

There is something about those bus spiels, I agree!! Just thinking about that made me all :hyper: for our trip. I always think, when I hear that for the first time, "I'M HERE!!!"

LOL. I know, when I found the video on youtube I was like I want to be there right now!!! Almost 2 months...

I love the Disneyland flashback. I am with you, what I love about going to Disneyland is the things that set it apart from Disney World. Man, the castle is small though. I think you don't realize it until you see the WDW castle and the DLR castle in a short span of time.

We were stuck on IASW before, because they were having problems with the boats back in the day when they would bottom out in the trough. We had to grab the edges of the trough and pull the boat through. LOL.

Gosh, I wish I could be on a bus to the MK right now! I have to admit, on our last bus ride of the trip, I do get sad about missing the "bus guy".

Love your quote! I can totally hear that voice in my head! Now I have to go watch the You Tube videos! :goodvibes

Cinderella Castle is just much more impressive than Sleeping Beauty Castle. I remember hearing someone say at Disneyland, "the castle in Disney World owns this castle!" hehe

haha, that is too funny. :rotfl:

Me too, especially with the snow. Is it spring break yet?

Hope you were able to watch the videos...love that they actually had something on youtube! :thumbsup2

69 days to go!! Or something like that, I don't really know the exact number. LOL. All I know is that it's almost down to 2 months. Woo hoo! :woohoo:

The other day I made a maybe trip purchase. The new Vera Bradley colors came out for the spring so of course I couldn't resist and had to go get another one. :rolleyes1 I ended up getting this bag:

And I am in love with it. Soo colorful and springy. Now I have to decide if I want to use it or just use one of my old ones when we go. Such tough decisions. haha!

It's been snowing here all day, so what better thing to do than reminisce about old Disney trips? We even had to watch some of our old home videos the other night after hearing from our cousin about their trip for the marathon. It's been a while since I did a flashback and I'm determined to get through them in this TR. I left off with my second trip to Disneyland so the next trip takes us back to Disney World!

Disney World Trip #12: Dec. 2007-Jan. 2008
Now that I think about it, this was the last trip that my family took when it was all five of us. We were looking forward to staying at a 2-bedroom villa at Saratoga Springs and a few of us were also going to be heading to another bowl game since Michigan was playing in Orlando. As usual, our flight was scheduled to leave nice and early in the morning. The one thing that always worries me about winter trips is that there's always the possibility of snow here in Wisconsin. You never know when it could screw you over. The good news was that there was no snow in the forecast so everything was looking good.

The flight board at the airport...

(note: this is where I became superstitious about taking pictures at the airport and is why I will NEVER do it again!)

Right around the time we were supposed to be boarding our plane, an announcement was made. I thought they were going to say that they were going to be beginning the boarding process, but no. Instead they told us that our flight was cancelled. :scared1: So we had to rush downstairs to see if we could somehow get on another flight later in the day. Luckily, we were able to get something scheduled to leave later that evening (maybe around 7 or 8:00, I don't exactly remember). Even though we got something, I was still freaking out, probably on the verge of tears. I remember asking the attendant if she was sure the second flight was going to leave.

Since we had a few hours to spare, we ended up coming home so we didn't have to sit around the airport all day (thank goodness we only live about half an hour from the airport!). Another random fact from that day, I remember that the Packers were playing the Lions in their last game of the season. haha

Then it was take 2...off to the airport again. I remember sitting at the gate being so nervous something was going to happen to that flight and we'd be stuck. I really do think I started crying then because I just wanted to go to Disney World!

Well...obviously everything worked out the second time around and we finally arrived at Saratoga Springs around midnight. It took us a while to get there though because not too many people take the Magical Express at that hour of the night! But it was good to be "home."

Another bad thing about being delayed was that we missed out on a half day of activities. I can't remember for sure if we were going to go to a park but we wanted to do something! So much for that. But even on just a couple hours of sleep we still wanted to wake up early for 7:00 am EMH at the Magic Kingdom!

Yep, still dark...kind of like this past April when Dad and I went.

Gotta love the Christmas decorations!
n20305212_32942612_9264.jpg

And it was our first time getting to see the dream lights. Just amazing!
n20305212_32942613_9564.jpg

We spent the morning at the park and capped it off by seeing the Christmas parade. We then decided it was time for a break because this is what the crowd looked like:
n20305212_32942637_8102.jpg

I must be crazy for wanting to put up with that again this coming December. I just have to go back to see the decorations!

Later in the evening we went to Epcot for a bit. I miss these.
n20305212_32942724_2279.jpg

That was probably the only warm day we had that trip...after that Florida had one of its rare cold snaps!

The next day was New Year's Day, aka Capital One Bowl day! We made a quick trip to the Animal Kingdom in the morning before Dad, Emma, and I made the drive to the game.

n20305212_32942730_3876.jpg

It was a pretty successful morning...we got to do a safari, Expedition Everest, and Dinosaur. I remember this was when they had the Year of A Million Dreams celebration going on and at Dinosaur, we won VIP seating fo the parade! Sadly we wouldn't be able to use them since we were going to the game but Claire and Mom stuck around to use them.

A couple random shots from the football game:

My sister and I liked this sign...
n20305212_32942909_6291.jpg

You can't really tell but I was wearing my VIP badge they gave us for the AK parade. I felt too special to take it off.

n20305212_32942929_1733.jpg

It was a high-scoring game, but in the end Michigan ended up beating Florida...woo hoo! Third time's a charm. We finally got to see a bowl victory. We enjoyed visiting the Magic Kingdom that night wearing our Michigan clothes and having people ask us who won. Most people (a lot of SEC fans) were glad to hear that Florida lost. hehe We capped off that night with Spectromagic and Wishes.

n20305212_32942781_8605.jpg

Like I said, after that it started to get really cold. We had to bundle up in jeans, jackets, even mittens. I swear when we got home it was warmer than it was in Florida (and of course that's also when it started to warm up in FL).
n20305212_32942802_3875.jpg

But even with the massive holiday crowds, we were still able to accomplish everything we wanted to plus see plenty of the decorations. Definitely one of the best parts of going over the holidays!

n20305212_32942831_1205.jpg

We did have another magical moment that trip. We were back at the Animal Kingdom on my last full day there (mom and I were coming home a day early so I could go to a friend's wedding). We were planning on going to see FOTLK so we were hanging around in Camp Minnie Mickey. All of a sudden a cast member came up to me and started talking. She ended up asking us if we wanted to be in the parade! We couldn't turn down that offer so we scratched our plan to see FOTLK. After all, how many times do you get asked to ride in the parade? We got to go to a backstage area, get our "costumes" and hop on our float. We got to ride in the last car with Mickey Mouse!!! Definitely one of my most memorable Disney moments. We had so much fun riding along and waving to all the guests. :goodvibes

A couple shots I took riding on the car:

n20305212_32942865_731.jpg

On the last day we went back to the Magic Kingdom to squeeze in another ride on some of our favorite attractions before it was time for me and mom to leave.
n20305212_32942868_1567.jpg

So despite the rough start and the cold weather it was still a fun and very memorable trip. The bad start though, did have one perk: a cancelled flight meant five free flight vouchers which meant more trips to Disney World! And guess who was lucky enough to go on both those extra trips??? That's right, ME!!!!!!!!!!! Stay tuned for those flashbacks and another new quote of the week...

I'm beginning to think Florida cold snaps are not so rare. It was cold last January when I went (in fact it snowed.) And it was cold during the trip I just got back from. Love all of the pictures. I hope to make it one year for Christmas.

great update!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE THAT NEW VB BAG!!!!!

I have not seen the spring colors and that is a good thing! I always tend to use the same few bags (VB backpack, Coach black/white purse, or coach side/hip bag) so I dunno but I could find SOMETHING in that pattern to buy I'm sure hehehehe!

Fun update!

You know, I have a suggestion about the bag situation. Just bring both! :lmao:

I have such a problem with that, but it's because I'm a little bit purse obsessed. I never know if I'm going to be indecisive, so I normally come with options. ;)

Ooh, it snowed? And not like Osborne Lights snow? ;) I just remember when we were there they had all the plants covered up because of the frost. Brrr.

Thanks! Isn't it cute? Actually, all of the new spring colors are adorable. You can always find something to buy in VB! LOL.

Both? What makes you think I only have ONE other VB to bring along? :rotfl:;) Seriously, I have a problem.

Well, once again I've fallen behind on my countdown game. :sad2: I meant to do it yesterday but then I realized my trip flashback got kind of long-winded. But now it's time to get back on track. :thumbsup2

The next Quote of the Week is going to be in honor of the new season of American Idol starting tomorrow. Yes, I may be the only one watching now that Simon is gone. But oh well, I'm actually still pretty excited about it (and public service announcement, if you plan to watch AI, watch it next Wednesday because that's when they're going to be showing the Milwaukee auditions!!). Anyway...any guesses as to where the next quote comes from?

If you said the American Idol Experience, you'd be in the right park but the wrong attraction. It does have to do with music though!

So the Quote of the Week is...

"OK folks, look, the show is all the way across town. But I got you a really fast car!!"

Yep, good old Rock 'N Roller Coaster! Such a cool preshow. And to think I used to be terrified of that ride. One of the other fun parts is when someone suggests that everyone gets backstage passes and Stven Tyler says that he loves that idea. Get the Idol connection now? Yes, Steven Tyler is going to be one of the new judges. And whenever I think of Steven Tyler, I think of Aerosmith, which obviously makes me think of Rock 'N Roller Coaster. ROCK ON. :rockband::hippie:

Wanna listen to the preshow? Here you go! Rock 'n Roller Coaster preshow

Ahh, this part of the line always brings butterflies to my stomach! Especially when she says she got us a fast car and its out in the alley, then the door opens for us to move to the loading area. I swear everytime I watch people take off, I think to myself "What am I doing getting on this?!" Haha

I have a serious purse problem, so maybe we should start Purse Lovers Anonymous? :lmao:

I'll totally be watching AI. Can't judge it until I see it.

I'll be watching AI tonight! Even though Simon's gone I can't resist taking a peek. I've been watching that show since the beginning so I wanna see how it is now with just Randy. Do you know when the X-Factor starts to air?

I used to be so scared of RnR for the longest. I remember watching so many YouTube videos of it but when I'd go to MGM I just couldn't get on line. But now that I've been on it it's not even that bad! i think I read in one of my guide books that after the launch & first couple of turns it slows down to around 35 mph.
