making of me overview?

We're going in January and I would appreciate a very detailed desciption of Making of Me, so we can decide if our 5 1/2, 9 and 10 1/2 boys can handle or appreciate it.

I don't know how detailed a description you are looking for, but there are lots of web sites and guidebooks that go over it.
It's 14 minutes long and stars Martin Short who essentially "travels back in time" to check out how he was born. So you've got the somewhat geeky parents who fall in love, marry, get romantic with each other, get pregnant, and eventually give birth - as traditional as you can get. The film is mostly live action with a small cartoon segment that shows the actual process of conception, if I remember correctly, as a funny sort of race to the egg.
I don't think there's anything that kids of any age could't handle - it's a cute little flick, not a porn But if you're concerned, you might want to check it out by yourself first.

DH and I were on a "no kids" trip in July and saw this (since it was a sit down show in a cool theater). The last time we saw it was soon after it opened.
The cartoon segment is cute and wdwguide remebered right about the race. The egg is at the end of a long tunnel and the sperm are in a race to be first to get there. It shows some of them going down dead ends and some tiring out before one wins.
They don't show and kind of vaguely describe how the 2 get into the same place for the race to occur (to put it real delicately). It talks more about romance, love and marriage than about the actual process. It does show some actual in utero pictures. Expect that seeing it it may bring up some questions.

We saw this for the first time when my dd was just 6. She had no problem with it what-so-ever. Her favorite t.v. show became 'A Baby Story'. Then we saw it again, with friends that we were traveling with. The other dad is not very open to anything that might show his dd to be growing up in any way. I watched him the whole time and thought he was going to have a heart attack! The dd, when the show was over said...'that was pretty gross!'. Evidently she had never seen a new born baby. They do show the baby being born, but very discreetly. On our last visit in August we had to see it yet again. My dh, who is basically a prude, has no problem with it at all. It is quite tasteful. The cartoon showing the race to the egg is really funny. That's my favorite part. I guess it all depends on how your family handles 'the facts of life' issue. My dd, at 9, finally asked how it all starts. You know, how the little spermies get there. Now, that was an interesting conversation!!!!! But, thanks to Disney, she had a good basis.

I found it to be very tasteful. It may be that your children could ask question later, but then again, sooner or later your children are going to be asking questions. Nothing is shown of a private nature. It is done in the setting of marriage. As I recall, Martin Short explains that Mom and Dad love each other and want to be close. He ends up on the roof, because what his parents are doing is private. And from there, it goes into the cartoon sequence. There are some funny moments. Again, if you are concerned, have one of you preview it first.

I was wondering the same thing. We did not allow DD to watch itthis year, because we were not sure. It sounds like next year she will get to see it.
