Making Her Wishes Come True: Surprise Proposal Trip!

I like the letter idea, but you can have it from your parents and get it "delivered" to your room monday morning, that way she knows it wasnt free but thinks its a surprise for both of you. I love to plan but id go pretty crazy if i was in your shoes

I like this idea. You could even order a gift basket to be waiting in the room with the "gift certificate" inside the basket. I think it would be so exciting for her to see the basket waiting for you guys in the room.

I like this idea a lot. That way you don't have to give away that you are going to Disney World before the trip. You can get a welcome arrangement from your parents with the trek as a gift. But you have got to be able to act surprised too. If she thinks you were in on it with your parents then that could be suspicious.

I also want to say that even if something goes wrong and she guesses what it is you are up to, it will still be perfect. Because all the guess and suspecting in the world is not going to compare to actually getting such an amazingly romantic proposal. It will be overwhelming and perfect even if she begins to get suspicious.

I like the latest plan also. It avoids a lot of potential pitfalls, but also takes away the possibility that she'll think "This is the moment." A great plan!

True! She's gonna love it! You might want to start planning now for those landmark anniversaries (10th, 25th, 50th), you are setting yourself up for some serious challenges if you ever want to outdo your proposal. :scared: :lmao: I kid, I kid. :upsidedow

The gift idea is definitely a good solution! :yay:

And this is so true-- even if she does start to suspect something, in the actual moment, she'll be so surprised that it's actually happening and into the moment that it'll still be surprising and perfect! :goodvibes

:yay: This is soooo exciting!!!! And everyone helping and sharing ideas!!! This is beautiful!! She's a lucky princess!!princess:

Alright everyone, I've talked it over with my parents and we're going to be able to do the whole 'gift' thing from them. I'm going to write up a letter like it's from them for them to give us when we leave and have them say "Don't open till you get there"

Oh, my goodness! I cannot believe that I didn't keep up! I just read through about 8 pages...but now I am back on track :)

Everything looks amazing! Just a hint- when you put the letter in the envelope, put some heavy card stock just inside the envelope on both sides of the letter. She's going to want to figure out that surprise in the worst way and I wouldn't put it past her to hold it up to the light! I've had to do that with a few surprises of my own...it really saves the day!

Including pictures in your PTR was an awesome idea. I might steal it ;)

ANIMAL KINGDOM / O’HANA and WISHES

I had to split this up into two parts. I didn’t want to have a post be forever long and have you guys get bored reading it. Plus, what’s wrong with trying to stretch out this little series a little longer? I’m just trying to kill time before the trip so I need to stretch this as long as I can.

After I propose I’m sure there will be much hoopla and excitement. They are going to have “Just Engaged” buttons on standby for us and I’m considering having them bring us some champagne to celebrate with as well but I’m not 100% sold on the idea yet. Either way though we will only have 30/45 minutes on that platform before the next excursion arrives so hopefully that will help move our plans along. I’m sure there will be many texts/calls/facebook status updates to be made before we move on with the rest of our day though. This is why I chose the 8:45a time for the Trek. It allows us to get in Everest before the park gets busy and still allows us to finish the Trek before the rest of the park gets over crowded.

Having taken care of lunch on the Trek we shouldn’t have to stop for food other than a light snack before dinner. I’m not sure if we’re going to want to do Kilamanjaro Safari after going on the Wild Africa Trek but I have a feeling we won’t especially considering we still have the Maharajah Jungle Trek and the Pagani Forest Expedition Trail to explore. We will have to decide how we want to tackle this so that we don’t have to wait in too many lines yet also not walk too much as the Trek will have already had us walk a fair distance. I have a feeling that we will tackle the Jungle Trek and Forest Trail first so that we don’t have to walk across the park and then walk back.

Maharajah%20Junge%20Trek%2002.jpg

This trek is one of my favorite parts of Animal Kingdom. I love being this close to Bengal tigers and Disney does such a great job at portraying a theme it’s almost like you’re in India and not at a zoo in Florida.

After we get done with those it’ll be time to head over to Dino-Land to more than likely get fastpasses for Dinosaur as the line will more than likely be longer than I would like. As we wait for our fastpasses to come due we will probably either head back to the center of the park to watch “It’s Tough to be a Bug” or ride Primeval Whirl. If the line for Primeval Whirl isn’t too long we’ll probably ride that first and then decide if we have time to hit up the show before our fastpasses become due. Either way doing these three before we double back to do Everest again will be the priority. We got to ride Everest two or three times our last trip so not riding it multiple times will not be a big deal.

There aren’t really any live shows that are a must-hit in Animal Kingdom for me. I’ve heard great things about Lion King but I’ve never really had any interest in seeing it and Nemo I felt was a waste of time the last time I saw it. There is a good chance we will have this park done fairly early even with the Trek taking up a lot of time. I’ll make sure we take our time doing the walk-throughs and re-ride the things we can afford the time to. We will probably need to leave the park by 5pm at the latest though to get to our dinner reservations.
‘OHana!

OHANA_1_998.jpg

This is probably the meal I’m most looking forward to on this trip outside of Via Napoli. We have reservations for 6:35p and I plan on having us park in the Magic Kingdom lot and riding the monorail over simply because I love the monorail. The plan, as always, is to be their early so that hopefully we can be seated asap. Neither of us have eaten here before so I’m excited to see how much we like it. I do know for sure we will be getting a Lapu Lapu to share:

Basically it’s a mix of delicious rum and fruit juices all inside a hollowed out pineapple. After dinner the plan is to head out to the Poly beach with possibly an alcoholic beverage and relax and wait for Wishes to start. I haven’t seen the ‘regular’ form of Wishes for a few years as my last two trips have been during the Holiday season so I’m looking forward to a seeing a ‘new’ show. I don’t think there could be a better end to our day either:

Love the plans for the rest of the day!

I know you said you aren't interested in the shows and I agree with you about Finding Nemo not being my favorite, but if you can fit it in, I definitely recommend seeing FOTLK!

We're planning on doing Ohana and Wishes from the Poly beach also this trip! So excited. And that's a spectacular way to end your engagment day!! You'll get to experience a Wild Africa Trek and a Hawaiian beach and get engaged all in the same day! :goodvibes

I've heard a lot of good things about FOTLK and in fact one of our mutual friends that works at Disney used to work at the show and sings it's praises all the time. I guess we will just have to see how the timing works out with the Trek and everything else we will want to get done that day.

On our last trip we were going to do the fireworks from inside Magic Kingdom but it got way too crowded for her, so luckily I remembered what a friend of mine had said about the Poly beach and the fireworks and we went over there, had a beverage, and watched them and it was awesome. It's probably my favorite way to view the fireworks now. Nothing is better than relaxing on the beach and sipping a beverage and watching the fireworks.

That sounds like a great plan.

I'm glad you like it. My parents really like the idea too and are more than willing to help. :thumbsup2 I'm probably going to start drafting the letter today during lunch/downtime at work to keep me busy and not thinking about how many days I have left. Especially since my Photopass+ packet arrived today and the T-Shirts I ordered are due here Monday

OH can I help with this? I would love to write up the letter and put some cool graphics on it! I am still learning photoshop and not nearly as good as the people on Dis boards! But i would love to try!

Go for it! But remember to write it from my parents perspective. Also, see if you can include a place for my confirmation number. I want to put it on there so that I will have it in case I need it.

The Poly is an amazing resort and really nice and relaxing to walk around and enjoy the sights and sounds. It's probably one of my favorite ways to end a night as it's just so much more relaxing than having to worry about crowds before and after the show.

Day two will be posted Monday, stay tuned!

Really enjoying all your plans. Can't wait to see the next update. Have a great weekend!

EPCOT/MAGIC KINGDOM/BE OUR GUEST

600-spaceship-earth.jpg

We will probably be in bed by 11pm after a long first day the night before so waking up early to get to EMH for Epcot shouldn’t be that big a deal. EMH begin at 8a and we should probably be pulling into the parking lot around 8:30a. Like I’ve said before, on our last trip the sheer amount of things we were able to do during EMH and right after really convinced Hannah that getting up early to take advantage was well worth it. She is definitely not a crowds person, so EMH helps a lot.

Epcot+Soarin010.jpg

First up will be Soarin’. This has to be Hannah’s favorite ride in all of Disney, she just loves it. After we ride that we may grab a fastpass depending on when the return window is. Re-riding isn’t the biggest goal during EMH for us, it’s getting through everything at least once so we can wait later if we need to for re-rides. We will probably head over to Test Track to grab a fastpass as I’m guessing the line will be too long not to. If it’s short we may just skip the fastpass and ride stand-by though. After grabbing our fastpass we will head over to Mission Space to ride to kill time before our FP window opens. If everything works out the way I’m guessing it should here we will be done with the BIG 3 in Epcot before EMH ends. This will allow us to hit up Ellen’s Energy Adventure, The Living Seas (yes with Nemo), Turtle Talk with Crush, Journey Into Imagination, and Spaceship Earth all before the park gets overly crowded. We will probably leave Spaceship Earth for last as it always seems to get overcrowded at the beginning of the day as people are coming in. If FPs and ride times work in our favor then we probably should be done with Epcot around lunch time. There will be no need to stress about hitting every single ride on this trip into Epcot because we will be coming back on a slower projected day later in the trip.

Sometime around 11a-12p the plan is to hop on the monorail and head to the slowest projected park that day: MAGIC KINGDOM!

Magic-Kingdom-Entrance.jpg

After lunch we will be spending the rest of the day in this park. It’s projected to be pretty slow and I hope this projection holds up. To be honest I have no idea where we will eat since there are so many quick service options in this park. I personally am hoping for Tortuga Tavern for a burrito as we had these on our last trip and they were amazing. This is a pretty good guess too considering typically I like to go around the park from Adventureland  Fronteirland  Fantasyland  Tomorrowland.

The plan for Magic Kingdom on this day will be to hit all of the small things that will have little to no line when we show up. However, I do plan on having us FP some of the bigger rides if we can and I will not turn down riding a bigger ride if the wait is 20-30min or so. Rides/Attractions on my for sure list for this day include: The Tiki Room, Pirates (if we can), It’s a Small World, Philharmagic (if we can), Under the Sea (if we can), Teacups, Tomorrowland Speedway, People Mover, Astro Orbitor (if we can), Buzz (if we can), and the Laugh Floor.

Depending on when we get to the park we will have 6-7 hours inside Magic Kingdom so we will have plenty of time to get through rides. I feel like that list is doable depending on what we are able to FP and how busy the park turns out to be. I doubt we will hit everything on there and a couple of big rides will probably be added when we FP them, but I think this is a good place to start. Just like with Epcot, we will be back to Magic Kingdom another day so there will be no reason to stress about what we hit or don’t hit.

Be-Our-Guest-Bridge-Entrance.jpg

Dinner will be at 6:30p at Be Our Guest. I’m still a little disappointed that California Grill is going to be closed during our trip. At least that’s the way it looks right now as they aren’t even giving tentative dates that it could be open by on the website. I check probably once a week to see if it will let me make a reservation. If I can at some point I may switch from Be Our Guest to California Grill but at this point I think I’m sticking with Be Our Guest.

That all being said, I am excited to eat here, I’ve been looking forward to a chance at eating here ever since I first saw the concept and videos of the construction. I’m really hoping that they bring us out some of the ‘grey stuff’ to try since we will be celebrating but of course there is no way to know for sure if they will. I’ll probably stay away from the French style cuisine as we will be eating at Chefs de France later in the trip though. Since our reservations are at 6:30p and the park closes at 7p for MNSSHP it should be interesting to walk back through the park with that going on. After dinner we will hop back on the monorail and head back to Epcot to retrieve the car. I don’t plan on going back into Epcot, but there is a chance if we’re not too tired of going back into the park and hitting a ride and grabbing a good spot for Illuminations.

If you want california grill you might try calling. I thought I remembered hearing somewhere that for now they are only taking reservations that way.

Besides you never know. You might get an extra nice CM who is touched on why you'll be there and manages to sprinkle a bit of pixie dust in just the right place.

These plans sound awesome! We are also going to be in epcot that day :cool1: Maybe we will run into each other because i know we will probably hit soarin and test track right off!

We are eating at BOG monday night and we are so excite about it! I told my boyfriend that we should pretend to be celebrating something so there is hope for "the grey stuff".

Will you be doing the online check in at 60 days?

I cannot do the online check in because my cousin got us the room at a discount so he has to confirm the room for us at the hotel 10 days beforehand and then we have to do regular check-in once we get there. But hey 69 days left!! :cool1:

That's exciting that you guys are eating at BOG the night before we do. I know we will have our "Just Engaged" buttons on the rest of the trip and all of our reservations also say that we will be celebrating so I'm really hoping we get it.

Should be interesting to see if we run into anyone from here while we're down there!

Your Epcot and Magic Kingdom plans definitely seem doable!

I hope you guys get the Grey stuff! If there's ever an appropriate occasion, this is it! :goodvibes
