Make-up in August

I can understand why people don't wear make-up in August. However, I'm in my 40's and my skin has aged...it has uneven tone and dark circles. I love the photopass pics and have always prepurchased it. I hope to find a good concealer and nice foundation/sunblock. Then I'll be good with maybe a little mascara and lip gloss. Is that reasonable? We plan to go back to CBR most afternoons to recharge.

Sounds reasonable to me! I only wear mascara and lip balm in Disney. I can't even wear make up when I go in November. I have such oily skin, it would make me break out like crazy. So I never wear makeup, even when I'm not in Disney. Mascara is a must for me though! And a little bit of eye liner sometimes. I will never use waterproof mascara again. I have very long and thick lashes.. taking waterproof mascara off is torture for me lol. I have never had melt thankfully, so I just use mu regular mascara.

I tend to just use mascara and an spf lip balm that's tinted (jack of al trades at bare minerals). I skip everything else. It just is not worth it

I don't ever wear foundation or mascara, but I do wear eyeliner and shadow. I used to have trouble with both of those running or wearing away, especially in the heat, but I started using Urban Decay primer potion (I think the color I use is called sin - it's kind of a very light gold) and didn't have any problems last May (even on days when the heat index was over 100°). No creasing of my shadow, no worn away or "melting" shadow or eyeliner.

I know my bff uses Lancôme primer under her mascara. I think there are also products you can spray on after your foundation to keep it in place?

We can only go in August, the last five years during the day I skip the make up. But after our afternoon break and shower I use concealer from Ulta is really good, it cosmetics BB or CC+ cream. Still stays on great even after sweating a lot

Tinted sunscreen (the one from Coola is the only one that does't break me out), lip balm with SPF, and a pair of sunglasses and I am good to go!

It's hard to wear anything when it's so darn hot. My H thought it was really silly of me to try to wear some on our August trip, but I was determined to look good in pictures. I didn't wear much, maybe some BB cream or or a powder foundation with a little liner, lip gloss and wp mascara. The best thing I found was this and since I get hot, I use it all the time (shut my eyes and spray):

Yes, waterproof mascara is a must, any recommendations?

I do like Lancôme products, so I will look into that :)

I'm using Mary Kay right now and I don't really like it

Try bare minerals and use it in reverse. That is, put the mineral veil on first to absorb sweat, then the color. I also like Tarte Bb cream. You could try badger sunscreen, but it's filled with zinc so it's quite white!

I love baby lips in the purpley color (forgot who makes it!)

Also, instead of mascara, try just curling your lashes. I find it works well.

We were there in October, but it was 95 the whole week. I wore make-up the whole trip and had no issues. Not even on the drenching rain days. I use Urban Decay primer potion for my eyeshadow, along with their eyeshadow and mascara. For blush I use Nars. Foundation I use Benefit "some kind of wonderful", which isn't actually a foundation, it's lighter and E.L.F face primer and the only time I even had to retouch my make-up was aftet getting drenched.

I would go for a good BB or CC cream with SPF. It's not as heavy as foundation but will still provide some coverage and sun protection. Plus, no need to moisturize before wearing. My favorites are Garnier, Neutrogena, and It Cosmetics.

I'm a drugstore makeup kind of gal, lol.
I use waterproof CoverGirl mascara and waterproof Almay liquid liner; love them! Stay put all day.

Wow! Lots of great suggestions, and I love to do research :) haha! It looks like I may really like a BB or CC Cream. And I'm really interested in the setting spray for my dance recitals (I only perform in the finale, but it would be great to not have to touch up)

It feels so weird to me, I never had any problems using drug store cosmetics and hair products. But the older I get, I'm finding myself not happy with my hair, skin, muscle tone....sigh. I'm definitely the type of person that values the inside more than the outside, but I still like to look my best!

I'm going in August as well. My daily routine will be sunscreen (also works as a primer), BB Cream with a 50+ SPF, concealer, waterproof mascara, lip tint, and lip gloss. I'll carry around a pressed powder compact for oil control and touchups. I prefer not to bring any stick products (lipstick, cheek sticks) in my purse due to the possibility of melting. For nicer dinners, I'll probably go back to my hotel mid-afternoon to apply proper eye and cheek color.

Oh honey, I'm the same way! I've determined that I will stay 36, since that's a reasonable age!

You might want to consult a dermatologist. I have terrible rosacia, and finacia works wonders for me. Also, CeraVe cleanser + neutrogena hydrobost pre makeup works too. But, yeah, ageing sucks.

Hm. Okay, well I know I said in the other thread that I don't wear makeup in August when I'm in Florida, and that's true. I'm 45 and have the same issues you mention, with the dark circles and the uneven skin tone. One thing that has done wonders with the uneven tone is Clinique's even better dark spot corrector. There are a number of companies that make a product for dark spots, but that's the one that's worked best for me. It's pricey, for sure, but great if you can swing it. Mascara, I'd probably do. Mostly because even though I have dark hair, my eye lashes are light. And I swear mine are thinning. But I've never had trouble with mascara in the heat that I can remember. Eye liner tends to smear even in winter.

Use primer and a setting spray and you will be set all day. I have Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray, I highly recommend it.
