The "Celebrity makeup" thread brought to mind my own personal problem...WRINKLES!:scared1:

I am 42 and I recently lost alot of weight (80 lbs :woohoo:) and now my face is alot thinner, but my skin has lost alot of its elasticity and is just really showing its age :sad2: My undereye area has alot more wrinkles than it used to and I do not have a clue what to do about it. The rest of my face is not wrinkled yet; however, my skin is alot drier than it used to be.

I did start using a high end moisturizer/cleaners (Kinerase), but after 2 months I cannot tell any difference. I have noticed that my current makeup is really making the wrinkles around my eyes more pronounced, but I do not know what I should be using. I currently use a creme to powder foundation (I like the one step), but wonder if maybe a liquid foundation with powder would be better.

I hate to have to start botox or something similar and wanted to try other options before I start doing that. Does anyone have any suggestions???

Hi - 43 here, and in addition to growing older I also moved from Texas (humidity) to Colorado (sun and the driest air ever!). I also have had to change my makeup in the last few years.

My experience is that yes, liquid foundation does seem to work better, and then set with a loose powder (if you really need powder) rather than a compact powder. That said, right now I am using a drug store creme-to-powder, Maybelline Age Rewind, and it's working great! (I'm a sucker for the one-step as well, and all other ones make me look dry and cakey - I must have tried every one on the market!)

Moisturizers, you just have to keep trying until you find what works for your face. I have gone through many expensive ones, and actually the ones I like best are Avon. Reasonably priced and very effective. Read carefully about each one to see which one suits your skin best.

You will be surprised that not always the expensive products work the best. Alot has to do with your individual skin and the way it responds.

43 here too, and you are voicing some pretty big fears of mine (my decade as a fat lady is pretty much over and I've been steadily losing weight. About time. My "baby" is 12, lol.) Honestly, when I'm in your position, I'm going to assess the situation and get whatever surgery I think I need to put myself in the position I would have been in if I hadn't gained the weight. I don't want to look younger; just my age and healthy. Don't know if that's an option for you, but it's an idea.

OP here~

Thanks for the suggestions, I think I will try the Maybelline Age Rewind and see how I like it. I did have some liquid makeup and tried it today. I had not used liquid since before I started my diet and it really did make a difference around the eye area. Not a cure all by no means, but the wrinkles were less noticible to me.

I may look into getting a dermatologist to see if there is anything they can do to help. Not ready for plastic surgery yet. I do have alot of loose skin other places due to my large weight loss, but I do not have the funds for that. Going to Disney for our anniversary next month and that seems more important than my vanity at this point. If it gets worse in the next year or so, I might see what can be done :cutie:

Mary Kay has an AWESOME product for the eye wrinkles!!! It is TimeWise Firming Eye Cream. I swear by this stuff! I went a week without using it and felt like Jamie Lee Curtis in Feaky Friday..."I'm the CRYPT KEEPER!" :rotfl2:

They have a whole line of anti-aging products that I use, but if you just need the eye help, I recommend this stuff 1000%! And any make-up you put on will make lines worse. It fills in the creases and just makes them look more pronounced, so the lightest application is the best. Good luck!

I have been using CoverGirl Simply Ageless with Olay. I really like it as I have many fine lines around my eyes which are quite visible. With the CoverGirl makeup, it makes the wrinkles less noticeable. I like the added Olay in the makeup. I had received the makeup through Bzzagent and was skeptical as a lot of products I have tried just didn't really make a difference except to my wallet.

Whatever you decide, congratulation on your great weight loss. It is awesome.

I like the Maybelline Ageless rewind whatever also, lol. The one with the applicator attached. For some reason, I love that liquid makeup. I alternate between that and BE mineral make-up. In FL heat, nothing but BE. Liquid would slide off!

I have to wear at least a little bit of makeup even in FL because I have undereye circle that would make someone call the police on DH! :(

I'm sorry I don't have any advice to offer, but I just had to reply to DisneyBamaFan. You remind me of my DH; I love him dearly and consider myself a lucky girl :goodvibes .

Don't use the liquid around your eyes, only a bit of concealer under eyes and not to much.

The liquid settles into the lines and makes the lines more pronounced.

Makeupalley.com is an amazing site. free to join, THOUSANDS of reviews. I don't buy any beauty products without doing research on this site.

Great message boards, I would check there, there are seperate ones for skin care and makeup . These ladies really really know what they are talking about. Lots of professional makeup artists on this site.
