It worked! I called, a lovely CM checked and I had a 40% off deluxe code. I totally splurged--theme park view. Oh my! I'm so excited. Now I just have to convince DH that the view room is worth it. He's already suggested going down a level.

Hootch, are you saying that you did receive a PIN that had a discount for the 19th - 27th of June?? Is there anything available for a value resort? This really gives me hope! Thanks

has expired by now. It came out in October and had to be used within a week of receiving it. The Value offer was the same as the Mods at 20% room only. The available dates were 2/17/11–4/16/11 and 5/1/11–9/29/11. There were similar offers at that time for 30%/40%. (I just looked and the offer expired October 11.)

Are you a teacher? I ask that based on your handle. If so look at the Swan or Dolphin. They usually have good rates for teachers.

Just called and there is nothing associated with our name for our dates - March 18-25......will keep watching and calling.....
 
Hootch, I am a teacher and I would definitely be interested in the Swan or Dolphin however, we are traveling with MANY other groups and they would have to pay the premium rates. We will probably look into it for our next trip as a family. Thanks!

sure anyone outside of small groups of people in Disney Marketing know the answer to your question. There are, however, a few actions that appear to have correlation with getting a pin. It may be a small correlation but they're not much work.

1) Go to the Disney website and register. You will have to put in some data about when you would like to go and how many times you have been. It shows Disney that you're interested and gives them the information to contact you.
2) Go online and order a Disney planning video and the free Disney maps.
3) Scope out a couple of possible vacations around the time you want to go. Make sure that you are logged on under the ID you used for registration.

There should be a thread for March discounts. Subscribe to that. On the right side of the banner on this site there is a link to discounts. Disney also has a page for Special Offers. It can be reached from the drop down menu under Tickets and Packages.

It looks like the last couple of years March offers have come out for the general public in December and January.
 
I am going Feb 26-Mar 5 with free dining.. so there should be that during your dates.. I can't remember what the last day for free dining is, but if it is like 3/3 can you go a day earlier to take advantage of that?
 
Free dining ends the end of February. I will be at a conference at the Coronado from February 26- March 4. So unfortuantely, I can't go any earlier. February 20-26 is sold out for free dining at ALL resorts. Uggh.:confused3
 
I called and I don't have one. The CM asked what she could do for me and I said to give me a PIN for 40% off values :rotfl2: She laughed and then mentioned free dining. Unfortunately, that just won't work for us. I'll keep trying...

It's not sold out - it's just not available then. From Disney's website -

I was told it was "random" when they give out pin codes. So, as of now, nothing for me:sad1: I'm trying for next October, so I think there's some time.:)
 
I just called, and there's a PIN in my name... that expires 6 weeks before I want to go. Crud.

This is correct. Some people receive pins that have never registered online. And you don't need to call to see if you have one. Check your email, if not in inbox check spam folder. Check snail mail. Some come as mailers.

Others have posted similar experiences but maybe this will be helpful to someone. On two occasions, I've called to check for a pin and was told that I had one available. Neither time were the pins sent to me via email or snail mail. Both times I've had trips booked at the time I checked. The first time the pin was good for the dates of travel. This week I called to see if I had a pin for June and was told about a pin good through 12/25 - not what I wanted at all. The fact that I've never received one prior to calling makes me think that they can be offered on a discretionary basis by the CMs.

I was thinking the same thing. When I called I asked if there were any discounts for May I never asked about a pin. She asked me where I wanted to stay and started asking me what kind of room I wanted. I had to interupt her to ask her if there was any discount. She then told me it was 40% off the room I wanted. I have never recieved any pin from wdw in the past. I did cancel a room I had booked in July so maybe that triggered something.

The he said "Thank youfor calling Disney and have a magical day"-kinda sarcastically or maybe I just took it that way. I then hung up on him. The first call I got another very abrupt CM. Don't like it... Where's the disney magic??? When I call to book, I always get such nice friendly CMs. Doubt I will make a third call.:sad2:

Sorry to hear that you didn't have a PIN and that the CM's weren't very nice. I received that same type of treatment when I called (on 2 or 3 different occasions). I don't think that I will be calling again either.
