I would be happy to give you very specific advice about your trip including theme park days, packing and shopping.

What is the age and gender of the Wish Child?

What are the ages and genders of any other kids going?

Will you be staying at Give Kids the World Village, a Disney Resort or elsewhere?

How far/ long will you be travelling and when are you scheduled to arrive at and depart from Oralando?

Bill

Oh... and another thing that is important to factor in: What health, mobility, or disability issues are there that would affect any of the people going on the trip?

Thanks,

Bill

Sorry...another question for those of you who have already been on a trip:

If you could pick only one extra activity or meal--one you have to pay for--what would it be??

I'm wondering because I don't think we will have much spending money at all, so I'm trying to prioritize. It seems like our chapter of MAW might be hurting and is trying to cut back a lot--that's the impression I get anyway from my correspondence in regards to length of trips, rental cars, etc. Also, they've said the only spending money will be for lunches. So...I'm thinking if we pack our lunches and don't spend anything in the parks, we might have enough for one cool meal or activity.

Oh, and Melia is three, and she isn't really into the princesses. I was contemplating the Seaworld lunch or the Pooh character lunch, or?? Any suggestions?

I dunno that I would pay extra for a special lunch at Seaworld - there is just so much to see. And you're going to see plenty of characters anyway, without doing a lunch, thanks to your MAW button. The kids hardly eat at them because they're so busy watching what's going on. But I'm at a loss to suggest what WOULD be special, not knowing your family.

If it was ME, I'd be buying photographs in an effort to preserve the memories and take them away with me - but that's me and some people don't care about them. I guess I'd hold off deciding until I saw what Melia's really *wild* about and then go with that.

and Pl5s - don't over plan! You're NOT going to be able to do "Everything". Pick out your top 5 must dos and make sure they get done, but other than that - be open to the experience. It's really hard to plan for the unexpected -

Sheldon is 8 (boy) (the wish child) and with him he is taking his brothers: Spencer (20) and Sterling(11) and sisters: Shelby(17), Sheila (15) and Bekkah(4) and of course he invited mom and dad (mom always 21 and dad 34). Sheldon is the only one with disabilities he has a heart condition, severe asthma, has had 2 back surgeries (in 9 months timeframe) and lots of allergies. We are getting a wheelchair for while we are down there to help him since he can not walk for too long of a period. We are staying at GKTW and very excited about it. I also know that we are going to the Mickeys-Not-So-Scary Halloween (although Sheldon and kids do not know this MAW arranged that). We are traveling from PA by plane and leaving here on September 21st with us arriving in Orlando at 2:45 pm our trip will end on the 27th our plane leaves Orlando at 12:40. (as of right now unless things change) I imagine that we will meet with our MAW team within the next few weks for last minute details.I do not believe we are doing any character meals as that we do not have any money to do this. I know we can not do everything and we believe at some point some of the olderr kids will want to ride on some of the things Sheldon and Bekkah can not. So any suggestions for all of us, older kids or even the two little ones that are "don't miss" please feel free to advise. Just want everyone to have a good time and get the most out of it. I am a stay at home mom who has never been able to do this for my children due to all the medical and now that it is here I want everyone to have the time of their lives! Thank you so much for all your help. People on here are so nice and seem to have so much kindness.

I know I should not try to fit too much in...but there are so many kool things.Thank you for reminding me to take time and enjoy the wish!! Sometimes I get so wrapped up that I forget to enjoy it!

Hey everyone....

I'm sure some of you have noticed that Maroo hasn't been around for the last few days. She has been sick and not feeling well. This has been taken from one of her TR's posted late last night.

First off, I want to tell you all, I just got off the phone with maroo!! Guys!!! She is really sick. Her tummy hurts, she has a fever (not high), and her white count is elevated. Here's the upshot...

She feels very "blah" and unmotivated for her trip!!! :scared1: She really does NOT want to go if she if feeling like this AT ALL! Seriously, she even said they will do another CBC tomorrow, and if it is higher, they are going to look more closely at what's going on, and she even mentioned an appendicitis!!!!

She says she HAS to go to work tomorrow, or she won't be able to go to WDW in Dec.

So she isn't feeling well. All7OfUs has spoken to Maroo today and Mary is at work feeling a little better but still nauseous.

Please think of her and hopefully she will be back to her old self in no time!

:rolleyes1 Tired of waiting for test results...We go back to the dostor on tuesday for them

Has anyone heard from Blue Fairy? I wanted to talk with her about DisneyLand.

I will try to work on Devon's trip report again. I still have 4 more days to put on it.

Unfortunatly MaW is not through us a going away party. So I have decided to through a little party myself. I thought it would be cool to take the family to Chucky Chees on the friday before our trip. Or should I do it earlier so I don't wear everyone out. It would just be me, the kids, my mom, my brother (if he can make it) and Mia's aunt and grandma.

What does everyone think? Any input would be great?

Thank you so much for posting this. I do believe God answers prayers and I truly feel better today. Thank you so much for that post!

I have actually been trying to do some research to find the blue fairy...She just sorta stop posting. And she is not posting on any other boards either. I am hoping she is just busy, but I fear the worst. I hope I am wrong. I just wonder if something happened. She seemed really sick by her posts.

I think it is a good idea to throw one! And I think the earlier the better...more time to pack and plan last minute stuff without feeling too stressed.

You could always do it when you get BACK...that way he can share about his trip and have something to look forward to...if we could do it all over again, we would do it when we got home...

I agree with Maroo I believe alittle earlier maybe good. I am a week away I am feeling the crunch. We had ours Thursday night. It was just the MAW volunteers and our son's grandparents. We did not really have much time to visit with anyone there because they were going over our paperwork and everything for the trip. So we have decided to have party when we get back to show everyone our pictures from the trip. I thought that might help keep the magic going alittle longer. I have pictures and everything but just have not had the time to post those yet. They will be coming this weekend.

The more I think about it, the more I think that some time this next week will be better. Maybe thursday or friday. I am still waiting on the volenteers telling me when they are coming to drop off the itinerary. I don't know how long that will take (I am starting to think it will take longer than I thought) but i do know that it has to be worked around Iris's school. I am going to try to email her in a minute.

Maroo, I loved your idea so much about an after WDW party that I have already talked to the people I wanted to invite about one the day after we get back. Just a simple bar-b-que where we can tell stories and show off our pics.:lovestruc

I have a question about flying. Do we need a photo ID for a young child? At what age are they required? Karen

We just had our meeting with our MAW volunteers to get all of our information and our tickets, etc. In our packet that we received it had a copy of our boys birth certificates just in case we needed an ID. They told us that should be enough.

I was thinking the same thing. I have PMed her, but haven't heard anything back. Saying lots of prayers.

I am so glad!! Just a simple party like that - low cost, even - is such a good idea when you return!

And have a good friend meet you at the airport to "see you home" is a good idea, too...especially if there was any fanfare when you left.

I have a question about flying. Do we need a photo ID for a young child? At what age are they required? Karen

No, you should not need an ID for a young child flying. Just adults. You should call your airlines to confirm...but I don't even think they require a birth certificate.

I was thinking the same thing. I have PMed her, but haven't heard anything back. Saying lots of prayers.

I have PM'd her several times over the past 2 months and never gotten an answer back. I even PM'd her Mom. :( I am hoping they are just busy. But she was a regular poster until May.

Okay, I started a pre-trip report...I think...hopefully. ;) I don't know what I'm doing. Perhaps this is the link to it:

(Nevermind. It won't let me post a link until I post more!)

It's called: Melia's Make A Wish Trip -- Bring on the Pooh

Okay, We got the call last night Make a Wish approved our trip to Disney World. Since I had already started to buy little things, it's a good thing. We have decided not to go until March, so I have 6 months to drive my husband crazy. Does anyone know if March is a good time to go to Disney? Is it warm enough to swim?
I think it is to early to start a pre-trip report, since I won't have anything to report until it gets closer. I will do another post to introduce the family a little later. Right now I have a frustrated 4 year old.

Congratulations on dates!!!!!

We have been in March the last two years and we are going again this March!!!! You can hit cold/hot spells in March but over all it is very comfortable weather especially coming from the North East!!! Here is a link to last years March temps and weather ...http://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/KORL/2009/3/1/MonthlyHistory.html

We have swam both years.. Some days a little too chilly but other days in the mid-80's.

The earlier you go in March the less crowded it will be. The 2nd weekend on is considered 'spring break' time and the parks start getting a little bit busier. If you have any other March questions let me know!:goodvibes
