Make a Wish (and other organizations!) - Wish Trippers...UNITE!! Volume 2!

Okay, We got the call last night Make a Wish approved our trip to Disney World. Since I had already started to buy little things, it's a good thing. We have decided not to go until March, so I have 6 months to drive my husband crazy. Does anyone know if March is a good time to go to Disney? Is it warm enough to swim?
I think it is to early to start a pre-trip report, since I won't have anything to report until it gets closer. I will do another post to introduce the family a little later. Right now I have a frustrated 4 year old.

:welcome: to the Wish Trippers thread!!! :)

 on driving your husband crazy!!

Feel free to start a pre-trip anytime you would like! You don't have to post to it often, but we would love to "meet" your family and you would have a place to post about your plans, etc. You can also post on this thread, too, though!

We have a pre-trippie that has been going for months now and our trip is not until September of 2010! :rotfl2:

Welcome! Feel free to post any questions, stories, etc! We are glad you are here! :)

The more I think about it, the more I think that some time this next week will be better. Maybe thursday or friday. I am still waiting on the volenteers telling me when they are coming to drop off the itinerary. I don't know how long that will take (I am starting to think it will take longer than I thought) but i do know that it has to be worked around Iris's school. I am going to try to email her in a minute.

Maroo, I loved your idea so much about an after WDW party that I have already talked to the people I wanted to invite about one the day after we get back. Just a simple bar-b-que where we can tell stories and show off our pics.:lovestruc

If planning a post-trip, or welcome home party, consider this in your planning: You will all be VERY tired, physically and emotionally (in a GOOD way of course). Our daughter needed some serious, quiet alone time when we got back. If you do plan an event, it may be wise to limit the time, and have it set up so that kids can duck out and allow adults to view the pictures.

Maroo,

You have become quite an amazing ambassador for Wish Trippers. It is great to see the doors that you have opened. Keep up the good work. Don't hesitate to ask for help if you need it. I keep in touch with Wendygrace, as well.

I have a question for those of you who have already gone on their wish trips. We are extending our dates 3 days past our stay at GKTW and likely staying with my BIL in Orlando. If we don't use the park tickets given to us by GKTW during our stay at the village, will they still be valid after we check out? We would like to rest a day or two at GKTW but don't want to waste the tickets and would like to go to a park on a day after we check out. Thank you ahead of time!!!!!

Thank you, Bill! It is truly a pleasure! I sometimes have a little trouble keeping up - but for the most part have been able to, which has been more of a blessing to me, honestly!

Your Disney tickets are good for 14 days after their first use.

Your Sea World ticket is only one day...and I bet it is similar...

Not sure about Universal...but Universal is so great with Wish Kids that I bet they would let you use it.

You could also check with GKTW...they have tickets to other attractions, too...so you may be able to get some tickets to some others - if you have time and are "bored" - which I highly doubt!

I think Noah's family sorta did that... spent a lot of time at GKTW while they were there that week and then used the tickets they had the following week.

Also...once you have been to GKTW, you are welcome back anytime...you just can't sleep there again. But if you wanted to come back after you left, you are able to do that. To have a meal. Or go to a party you missed or go to a party again! That is totally allowed!!

I have a tickets question too:

Are the tickets given by GKTW assigned to a specific person? In other words, if we weren't going to use all of them would my parents and brother (who will be joining us for a couple of days) be able to use any of them. I'm assuming not, but I want to make sure before they try to buy tickets.

Also, is there a place on these boards where people might sell tickets they can't use (if they have to cancel a trip or something)?

I just started looking at the ticket prices and am in sticker shock. I guess it's been a very long time since any of us has been to a theme park...

Thank you Maroo! You're so quick to answer and full of useful information. The park hours for December are FINALLY out so I'm trying to figure out which parks to hit on what days. It's so difficult with all the activities I want to attend at GKTW, but I'm trying my best.

Any advice on this one? Ciara's trip is in a little over 3months from now. We have been notified that we are being considered to adopt two 6yr olds who would move in before then. Do we cancel? Beg MAW to send them too? There is no way I could just leave them with someone while we go to WDW.
HELP!!!!!!!! Karen

 Congrats, on the possible new family members! Adoptive parents are special people! I would talk to the wish coor. Maybe there is a way for everyone to go. We will keep this new and exciting "kink" in our prayers!

:welcome: to the DISboards!!!

I am not sure how much information you want. I could literally fill up this page with information! :)

I have a few hints...

* No matter what anyone tells you - don't wait in a character line. :thumbsup2 Ask a Cast Member and show them your special button and they will get you to the right place and you should not have to wait long.

* Always have a camera out and ready...you never know when you are going to wish you had it. :)

* Have FUN! Soak it all up.

And I have about 100 more hints.... How many ya want? :)

Also praying for Hannah!! :)

Would love as much advice as possible! Also I have read many of the trips and have seen a shirt that I would like to try to make for our family......Can I try to copy a shirt design and is there any dierections anywhere regarding how to make the "wish 2009" shirts?

Also hope Hannah is doing well! Would love an update!

We can not believe it!! We will be leaving in 3 days!!!!:banana: Any last words of wisdom or advice? I just can not believe it is finally here. It just seemed like yesterday when we first started our PTR and here we are ready to leave.:woohoo::woohoo::yay::yay:

The tickets are listed as "comp" tickets and they are 3 day Park Hoppers (the Disney tickets) - once they are used by a person, they can't be transferred, they actually use a fingerprint scan to make sure they are not transferred.

It really is expensive to have them join you for a few days...because the longer you stay in Disney - the less you pay - so the first day or so is pretty darn expensive!

I believe you can buy a 7 day pass to Universal for only $99 - if you guys wanted to spend a couple of days with them there...but I am sure they would want to go to Disney. :confused3

I agree with tastycollector - I would talk to your wish coordinator. Tinytreasures may also know...although it is probably similar in each state...she was able to bring one of her adoptees on their trip!

Congrats on the possible adoption!

Tomorrow is our 90 day mark!! :dance3::yay::woohoo::cool1: I'm hoping to make reservations for dining and other events tomorrow morning. Before I do, there are several questions that I have about the process. If you have a moment, could anyone with knowledge of reservation making take a peek at some questions I posted on my PRT? I would greatly appreciate any input! Thank you!

PS. I also recently updated with yesterday's Disney Family Night as well as first day of school pictures!

Today, I went to the Ronald MacDonald house near Cardinal Glennon Hospital and donated a 3 foot teddy Bear (took two of us to hold him up!) in honor of our own Michael Jaggard. WendyGrace and Danae have stayed there many times and are remembered by the staff with great fondness. It's a beautiful place and I'm sure blesses many lives.

The lady on the left is "Mary" who works at the house.

I have been MIA for several days and probably will be for the next week or so. Deyki is going in for a brain MRI on Wednesday, and he has a blood transfusion Monday. Then I have been busy starting up our homeschool and planning for a ministry I volunteer with at our church. It's a whirlwind of activity around here!

Only 10 left to go and the trip seems to falling into place. MaW volunteers came by today and dropped off the airline tickets and MNSSHP tickets.:banana::banana:

Also wanted to let everyone know that we have recieved several wonderful big give packages this last week so feel free to come on over to our PTR and take a look.:cloud9:

Our last DMFN will be tuesday. We will see Mulan, and yes I am going easy, we are having chinese take out.:thumbsup2
