Whoo-hoo! Got a rezzie for 1900 Park Fare, 8:25 pm, Saturday night.

So, what I'm thinking ... we had already planned on doing Sea World that day. So I'm thinking early up, go to Sea World, come home, have naps, then dinner with Cinderella. What do y'all think?

I know that Fantasmic is a very popular show. Does the GKTW button allow for priority seating for this show? I hear it is something we should definitely see, but asking Sam (wish kid) to wait 60 minutes for something would probably make the show not worth it...if you know what I mean...
Also, does staying at GKTW allow for the "Extra Magic Hours" or is that only for resort guests??
Mary Anne

Welcome to the Dis Merneric. We had to miss Fantasmic when we were there, so I can't help you out. If you don't get priority seating, then maybe you and DH can tag team to keep your kids occupied. GKTW guests do not get the extra magic hours, only resort guests do. That is usually when the crowds are the worst though, so it is not a bad thing. Your GKTW button and the GAC (Guest Assistance Card) you will get from GKTW will get you extra assistance at all the attractions (rides and shows) and that will help expedite things for your family so you really don't need the EMH.

If you want to do a character meal at Universal, I highly recommed the Spiderman/Cat in the Hat breakfast. It is not as expensive as the Disney Character meals ($15 a person instead of $45 a person) and there was a very nice spread for breakfast. They don't have it every day though. When we were there 2 years ago it was Thursday - Sunday. The actor who played Spiderman was awesome. He was very interactive with the kids and spent a lot of time with my wish kid.

When is your trip? The time of year that you go will help the others here give you more tips.

Thanks for the welcome. We leave home June 22 and return June 28. I didn't realize that there were character breakfasts at Universal. That sounds great! Sam is our wish kid and LOVES Spiderman and ALL Dr. Seuss. My girls are out of the princess stage anyway. And Sam prefers super heroes above all. That sounds right up our alley.
We are very excited about this trip. I am just nervous because I am SUCH a last minute person, I don't plan anything. I think it comes with the territory of having a kid who is perfectly fine one minute and having seizures the next. It seems like any time we plan anything that is when the seizures strike...
But I do know that we could get a lot more out of this trip if we don't fly by the seat of our pants. So I really am going to try!

First of all, WELCOME!!!!!! :)

When we went, it was a light season and they were still showing it every night, so it was not a big deal for us to just head up there - there were still seats.

Here is what I would do...Find a CM while you are already at the park...one that seems particularly helpful or notices the button, etc...and ask them if they can somehow reserve a seat for you guys. I would bet that they can arrange that. Or have one person in your party go grab a seat - if you had to! I think your kids are of a good age to see it.

I have tried to PM you, but I guess I am too much of a newbie...
We have a wish trip planned for June 22-28. I am a nervous wreck. As much as I would love to be a planner, I am just not. Any tips on things I should do at this point would be much appreciated. We would like to do a nice meal or 2. We have never done a character meal, but think it sounds like fun. I was thinking Chef Mickey's? We would really like to be able to see Fantasmic. I don't want to miss the Christmas Party at GKTW and we would really like to do Universal Studios at least one day.
I can't believe how overwhelming the planning part is...
Thanks,

We can certainly help you plan!!! First...you have lots of time...so you don't have to worry too much.

I think the first thing is to figure out if you want to eat anywhere special.

We did Chef Mickey's and it was good...but I also highly recommend Crystal Palace...from reviews I have seen there. Sorta depends on which characters you want to interact with! You could do both...depending on your budget.

GKTW, of course, serves breakfast and dinner...and I understand you can now order lunch things, too! :)

I have to run, because I am leaving work...but I will touch base back with you on this ASAP...and you will be able to PM me once you have posted 10 times. :)

And you should definitely be able to fit in Fantasmic! :)

Your plans are totally doable!!

We got to come home today!!!! 13 days away was to loooooooooong! Okay, 29 days until Disneyland and Legoland. Not a clue where to start...A good night sleep in my own bed and snuggles with all my love ones! I'm glad to see that there has been lots of good news this week!

HOME! Gosh...more good news! Fantastic!

I am sorry that I am completely clueless about Disneyland.

You will have to come home and tell us all about it so that we can help the next family, too!! :)

It is my understanding that you would not know anything about those character meals! :) lol

(How many did you go to on your trip? lol)

7 in 7 days. Although we didn't do a character lunch?:confused3

Mental note for next time!!! LOL

I did see your username and it did sound a bit wierd at first, the curse word way(btw....did not bother me because knew it wasnt intentional :goodvibes), but mostly I see your username as someone cally becky who is always crying/sobbing :rotfl::rotfl::lmao::lmao::rotfl::rotfl::rolleyes:

Hi everyone. We are headed to GKTW on May 5- May 11th. We are very excited! :woohoo::woohoo: Ok my youngest daughter Elise, 4 yrs, got her wish granted by MAW. My kids and I live with my parents plus my 12 yr old nephew. MAW is paying for me and my 3 kids, and since i'm a single mother they are also paying for my mother to go too. I have been looking for a vacation package that is the same that GKTW gives that is affordable for my dad and nephew so that they can enjoy everything that we get to. So i haven't any luck. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks

Hi! This is my first post so please be gentle with me!:goodvibes

My 16 year old daughter is a devoted disboarder...and her favorite post is the wish tripper's one. She (RWROCKSME) follows y'all religiously...and celebrates each time anyone tells a lovely story about their wish kid or family wish trip. She often recounts the stories to me -- and is sooooo excited by details of children singing "when you wish upon a star" and first sightings of Cinderella that make her go "bippitty boppetty boo hoo".

She herself, though older than most of the wish kids we seem to find on this board, is on the heart/lung transplant list at the University of Florida. She sometimes talks about being blue (when wheelchair and "looking different" topics arise) but I don't think she has ever mentioned her illness on the board.

She doesn't have much energy or physical strength so she doesn't get out much and spends most of her time on the computer -- her only connection real connection to the outside world. She is an only child, goes to virtual high school and her most communicative friend at present is a Disney "pin"pal from California she has never met.

She was offered a wish trip a couple of years ago and was even asked to speak (She is a great advocate for all kids and once raised 52,000 dollars for Paul Newman's Hole in the Wall Gang camps when she spoke on their behalf!) at a recent wish fundraiser at our medical school. She just couldn't decide what she wanted her wish to be. Well, after enjoying all of your stories vicariously and thinking about it she finally asked for a DisneyLAND wish!

She was sooooo excited when she got the word that it went through an we can probably go in the fall (she can't handle extremes of temperatures and summer would be too hot for her). So she posted...and no one replied. She was heart broken...and her heart IS broken.

I know it probably isn't often that a "teen" wish kid posts it probably just slips by most of you. But, as a mom who goes through what most you do (I was told she wouldn't live through the night she was born...and that was just the FIRST time), I know we usually just feel helpless when it comes to helping ease their pain.

But this is one time I CAN do something! Please, if you read my blue fairy's post please congratulate her. It would make her day! She wants to be included and she is a far better surf "boarder" than her mom ever hopes to be. And, as you all know, "when the baby is happy -- the mama is happy!!!"

THANK YOU :worship:THANK YOU :worship:THANK YOU :worship:

Awww! I love that! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes It's so cool that they are so happy just thinking about it. Can you spell M-A-G-I-C?

Anyway, MY Wish Trip got approved today!!! :woohoo: I am going to do an Adventures By Disney trip to California to see the Jim Henson Studios, the Walt Disney Studios, and Disneyland. I also get to meet Donna, my "Disney friend" for the first time. I am so excited!!!! This is a year and a half in the making, ( ) so I am happy to be getting this show on the road!

Congratulations! That sounds like a really fun trip, I have been to Disneyland before but getting to do the Jim Henson and Disney Studios sounds really cool. From your signature I see you are heading on a cruise soon. I hope you have a great time. I'm sorry we missed you before, I think since you were the last post on the page it just got missed. Every Wish is special and every Wish kid (or teen) is special too. I look forward to hearing all about your planning and your trip.

YAH!!!:goodvibes:cool1::rotfl2::woohoo::yay: I have finally made it to the end of this thread. Now I can start working on all the pre-trip reports and trip reports.

Has anyone used Earplanes for yourself or kids on the plane?? I heard they help with pressure in the ears while taking off and landing.
Yes, they help! IF the kids will keep 'em on.

I looked at the Disney store for princess dresses no luck on her size. I think I will look on ebay otherwise I will get her a nice shirt or t-shirt with a princess or princesses on them. princess:

Is it true that there is a makeover type spa for kids at GKTW?? If so I may think of cancelling the one at Downtown Disney.

It just opened and is named for a 'my little pony' character. Certainly would be hugely less expensive than the bibbyty bobbity on Disney. :goodvibes

Where is the best place to get inexpensive souveniors? or where is your favorite place for souveniors???
There's a walmart right at the end of the street that GKTW is on that has great souvenirs and post cards for less. You'll also pass several "tacky tourist" type souvenir shops on your way to the world, where your money will go much further. You'll also be given some things at GKTW, so don't forget to pack an empty bag to get the stuff home.

Is the Big Give a random thing?? or does everyone get this??
Totally random - depending on how much available time and funding the ladies have - they are big hearted volunteers:lovestruc

PS Supsarap, so sorry I missed your daughters post - and still can't find it (ancient eyes here) Please ask her to post again!

Maroo, is there any way your could reference twinmom's beautiful post about 'acceptance' on the first page? I have a feeling we'll be visiting that question again in the future. (BTW, THANKS for all that you do here! You are indeed, an angel.)

Oh my!!! Where did she post? Do you know? Gosh, I hope it was not on this thread??? I really, really try to address every single post. :( That would make me very sad to think we missed one.

I am so sorry that your DD is so sick.

But I am glad she is going to get her wish granted!! :) That is fantastic!

There is a DisneyLAND wish trip on post one...of this thread...that involved 2 teenagers and they give some details about their trip that may help you guys.

I am going to go search for your DD's post and answer it...and find that link for you...I will be back...
