I thought it would be fun if we shared creative ideas for making the waiting to leave time pass faster. I know different ideas have been mentioned on the PTR's, but I thought it would be fun to gather them here.
Here are some of our ideas -
Disney Dollar Days - We are having one of these days today! I have lots of lesson planning to do for the upcoming school year. (Probably should get off these boards and get to work!) I need my children to be cooperative and somewhat independent today, so I am giving them an opportunity to earn Disney Dollars. If they do what is expected of them, they can each earn 5 Disney Dollars. It's motivating, and I know they won't spend it all on Rolos and gum!
Notecards for autographs - Make a notecard for each character whose autograph you hope to get. If you make one each day, it gives you something to look forward to and is easy to keep up with. I found an expandable index card file at KMart. It has 13 sections, so I can organize the cards alphabetically. There is a bigger front section to put completed cards into. We don't always do one a day, so we do a few on our Disney Family Fun nights to fit with the movie we watch.
Disney Family Fun Nights - I was inspired by Corrines PTR and stole her idea of a movie themed dinner once a week. It's been a hit! My kids take turns helping me prepare the meal.
Family Trip Journal - I am just starting our family journal. The idea is to have one place where I gather the thoughts, ideas, and feelings of each family member as we plan and enjoy our trip. They can write or draw in it. We will add photos and planning details. Each entry is dated, so we can look back and remember this once in a lifetime wish trip.
Special Treats - As we get closer to leaving, I want to use the Disney candy wrappers I found on the Creative section of this forum to leave bedtime "kisses" and morning treats for the kids. I think we will start that a week to ten days before we leave.
On another note, Michael's in my area has a great clearance sale going on lots of Disney things. I got playing cards, lanyards, bouncy calls, crayons, markers, diaries, and more all for a dollar each! I am going to put them in the children's carry-ons to use on the plane.
Can't wait to hear more of your creative ideas!
