Maintenance issues passed to Owners?

This is a question for all owners. I recently spent a week and a day at the BCV. These units are only 4 months old. There was one thing that bothered me. The shower knobs kept falling off and needed to be tightened almost every day. I know this is an issue for maintenance, but I also spent one day in a studio where the knob was missing completely. You can still use the shower; it is the decorative part that was missing.

I can see this being a problem in all the rooms with all of the knobs. The sinks were loose but none were missing yet.

In my humble opinion, DVC management made a bad choice when they picked the fixtures for the resort that would allow this to happen. Now I own at OKW so I don’t have to pay the maintenance fees at BCV, but having to replace missing knobs all the time in that many units, can add up to some cost. I am sure that cost is passed on to the owners. I think that is totally unfair and should be addressed somehow.

What are your opinions?

I share your concern.
It is possible that is is some sort of warranty from the manufacturer of the shower.

don't see any reason to get excited about it, no matter how it works out...life's too short. for one thing, it's premature to make a decision on the subject when it is not known how it will be addressed. number two, the cost has to be nominal and will amount to rounding on the mtce. costs. number three, not all my decisions have been perfect, so I have some sympathy for those with the same experience.

If it's a defect, DVC will probably work something out with the supplier. They didn't pass the cost of the defective siding on BWV on to the owners. They came to an agreement with the contractor.

It is good to know the about the siding on the BWV. It was a concern. I didn't want to see a building defect be passed on as a problem to the members.


I understand that our dues go to alot of things but replacing defective materials should not be one of them.
