I like the call name Pocket by the way Cute!.
I am finding that lots of people like his call name. He is a Quarter - Paint cross (a sorrel with only one white spot above his right front leg). My DH claims he came up with the name, but I pretty sure I did. He was given to us by my sister-in-law. She once sold him to someone she knew, but found out that he was neglected. She took him back 150 pounds underweight and a mess. She couldn't afford him and asked if we would take him. We were very very green at the time, but she kept on saying that would be good for us. We agreed, but he was a handful. He was probably abused and not fed (he was still 75 pounds underweight when we got him), head shy and wasn't ridden in two years. Training? Some, but not lots of experience. Nice fit for some greenhorns. We spent 6 months just feeding, lounging and walking him around the ranch. He turned out to be a gorgeous horse. He is is very intelligent, athletic, and tries so hard to do what you ask. An unusual combination and I am lucky to have him.
I wanted to call him "Pocket" because my sister-in-law insisted he was a "pocket" horse. Funny, huh? Well he is on his to becoming a "Pocket" horse. We are sending him to be trained by Richard Winters in Ojai.
They have the Budweiser horses stabled at Sea World in San Diego. The public can see them all in their stalls and, one at time, can pet and take a photo with one of the horses attended by one of the handlers...if Sea World can figure it out, you'd think D'Land could do so too - especially since the D'Land horses are much more used to being around mobs of guests every day!
I would imagine that there isn't any room for the public to visit. Circle D Ranch is only 5 acres, which is very small for 28 draft horses. There has to be room for round pens, tack rooms, and wash racks at the very least. Not to mention the liability. Horses are horses and even the well trained and well conditioned horses have their moments.
At WDW, guests can walk into a small area of the stables and take a look. You can also book a horseback ride. Of course, Tri Circle Ranch is a lot bigger than DL's Circle D ranch and is in Florida where the liability laws are different.
