mail from Castaway Cay

I know this has been asked & answered in the past but without the search.... I have to ask again. (I'm kicking myself now for not printing out everything as I went :~(

My docs say only Bahamian stamped mail accepted at CC. Do you get postage on the ship? How much for postcards? It's wording left me with the assumption that I couldn't buy postage there at the post office.

Can someone give the details of buying postage and mailing from CC?

You can purchase postage at the little post office when you disembark on Castaway Cay. Be sure to bring cash with you as they do not accept other forms of payment.

Also, check the closing time as the post office will not be open the entire time that the ship is docked. Be aware that mail from Castaway Cay will take upwards of two weeks or more to arrive at its destination. Not the speediest way to mail, but kinda neat to have the postmark from CC.

Postcards to the U.S. will require either $0.55 or $0.65 depending on the size of the card.

I mailed two postcards from CC and neither one ever arrived....
Maybe it was my handwriting after a day of sun and beverage!

We mailed four postcards from CC - 1 to Florida and 3 to NY. Post office is supposed to open at 9:00 am. We got there around 9:15 and it was not open yet. I believe it closes around 2:30 so we made it back there before boarding the ship. The mail took approximately 2 weeks but it was well worth it. We wrote the cards out and addressed them before we got off the ship. They give you free postcards in your cabin of the ship with Peter Pan characters flying above ship. We used these postcards.

In Aug. 2000 we posted 3 postcards from Castaway Cay.

2 postcards were delivered to Canada in 2 weeks, but the last postcard took 6 weeks to make it to Virginia...

Our family began to joke that perhaps the mail was posted in bottles and the last postcard got carried away in a current (lol)
