I fell in love with the Rainforest on the Wonder and was planning on doing it this Dec. on the Magic. Then after reading some posts on how poorly kept up the Spa was kept up on the Magic in particular the Rainforest, I'm having doubts about doing anything at the spa. Is it really as bad as it sounds? I would rather waste my money on something else if it is. Thanks!

Great topic. I was wondering the same thing for our December cruise. DH and I were going to do the Suriel bath. Doesn't sound very good from what I have been reading lately.

Hubby and I did the rainforest and the surial bath while we were on the 9/13 magic. We had no problems with the rainforest at all...everything was working and it was excellent...we visited everyday, sometimes twice.

As far as the surial bath...wouldn't do it again.

..and notice that there are serious problems with the Surial Bath? I can not believe they would let it become run down. (or whatever terms were used) It doesn't sound like Disney. Why isn't Disney fixing those problems? Anyone complain to DCL? I will voice my comments when we cruise during Thanksgiving. We would like to do the Surial Bath but it just doesn't sound very nice from all the comments heard on the forum.

Keoni

We did the Surial Bath Chamber on the Magic in August and didn't run into any problems at all. In fact, neither Travis nor myself really are "spa" people and we have both decided that we would like to try it again.

Everything was in working order, the staff was friendly and competent, and it was quite enjoyable and more relaxing than I would have thought that it could be.

The only thing that didn't go as I thought it would was the fact that we were actually in the chamber for almost an hour and thirty minutes! I don't know if they forgot about us or if they were just giving us extra time in the chamber because no one had booked or showed for the slot after ours but no one knocked at the 50-minute mark like the hostess said. We ended up leaving on our own!

I was just about to post this same question. I was so looking forward to the rainforest room and the surial bath, then heard that they were dirty and broken. My husband finds it hard to believe that with everything Disney stands for they would let their spa become so run down.
It sounds as if we'll do the rainforest on our Thanksgiving Cruise, but I might need to hear more about the surial before we try it.

Hey Suz if I can get Jay to try it I will psot when we get home since we are going right before you. (that is IF I get off the ship- I have informed my family I plan to run the preschool program on the ship and although I will miss them at least I will be happy ;) )

THat's fine with me Ann if you stay on board. You can always join my party for dinner. I'm looking at doing the Rainforest, b/c the from what I heard the Surial wouldn't be any fun without a SO.

well maybe it is time for BD to book your cruise!!??

We purchased the week long Rainforest pass - and spent most of our days there - BUT there are still major problems and apparently, no amount of time in dry dock can seem to get them to regulate the temperatures of the saunas. For example, most of the time the "dry sauna" was cold, not even warm - the smaller moist sauna (eucalyptus) was warm and had so much water around it, you felt like you were in a foot bath - and the larger moist sauna (chamomile) was so hot that regardless of how much cold water you put on the seats or how many towels you used, the seats were still too hot to sit on.

Sports massage was wonderful, as was chakra capsule and foot massage.

Just remember days at sea are always crowded there but days at port find the spa pretty empty.

I can't believe they didn't fix and clean the place up when they had the time. I'll never go back in there. It was broken and in my opnion, kind of yucky!:scared1:

nothing really to add but WELCOME HOME RAE ;)

Hi Ann -

Yes, I was VERY disappointed that the Spa continues to be a source of frustration for most of the cruisers - I could not believe that the new manager actually tried to tell my Mom (Rainforest Queen) that the dry sauna is supposed to be cool and that the chamomile (larger wet sauna) is supposed to be so hot that no one could sit on the seats..... yeah, like my Mother would believe, accept or allow that to go by her without correcting it. (Read "chip of the old block" here!)

I think Steiner needs to have some DISNEY trained people there and run their area like the rest of the ship rather than continue with their substandard service and facilities.

And yes, Disney management does read our boards - so this may be corrected if enough people make it known that they are dissatisfied both here and on the survey forms.

Now my question is why don't they have this problem on the Wonder which is an older ship than the Magic.

How very dissappointing. I was so looking forward to the Suriel Bath. Will not be doing that on this cruise. Should I still get a message? I was also looking forward to a facial. Any suggestions as to what I should do?

The Absolute Elemis Facial and Massage is awesome. Barb has a detailed account on her website.

Obviously different equipment used on the Wonder than on the Magic - when the engineer tells both the Spa Director and my Mom that there is a problem....well, let's take his word that something is wrong.......

Yes, I have sailed twice on the Wonder - no problems with the Spa there and five times with the Magic and always a problem with the Magic's Vista Spa.

Go figure.

I guess I'll just have to stay away from the spa on this Magic trip. Will need to book a Wonder trip then to go to the spa. Thanks Rae!

Mom says that we will come along with you when you go - we are always ready to hit the Spa!!!!!!

Have a wonderful evening!!
